When My Mate Chose Her Over Me
When My Mate Chose Her Over Me Chapter 1
The day my mate decided to help his childhood friend with a terminal illness conceive a pup, I dissolved our bond and walked away.
Before leaving, I left a comment under their Instagram photo of interlaced fingers:
"Rejected. Wishing you both lasting happiness."
A minute later, he mind-linked me, his voice sharp and accusing. "Luna Aleena, how could I have bonded with someone as selfish as you? Are you heartless enough to deny her a chance to leave a legacy?"
With a cool chuckle, I replied, "You’re not my mate anymore. How is that my concern?" But he only seemed to get more agitated.
Signing the dissolution papers marked the end of everything. I wiped my face, feeling a newfound clarity, as if reassuring myself that I was finally done with Forest Peters, the Beta of the Silver Moon Pack and the man I had both loved and hated.
All the past bitterness and sadness slowly faded away after I dissolved our bond. Thinking of Forest, I suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of irony. Here I was, grieving, while Forest might already be in his den with his childhood friend, Sariyah Grant.
He had never truly cared for me, had he? After all these years, shouldn’t I have gotten used to it? Yet I couldn’t help but smirk sardonically. I wasn’t willing to let go completely just yet. Why should they do something so hurtful to me and remain unscathed?
With that thought, I couldn’t resist stirring up some trouble for Forest. I picked up my phone, opened his profile picture, and commented under their photo with interlaced fingers on Instagram:
"Rejected. Wishing you both lasting happiness."
"You and Sariyah wouldn’t have to go to great lengths to find excuses to be together."
Forest and I had been bonded for six years and knew countless pack members together. He didn’t show Sariyah’s face in the photo, so many still thought it was me being affectionate with him, even commenting on how sweet we looked.
Forest made no attempt to explain, leaving me as the shield for his affair with Sariyah. It made me feel sick. So, I bluntly clarified under the post, letting everyone see Forest’s true colors.
It wasn’t even a minute before Forest mind-linked me to demand an explanation.
"What nonsense are you spouting on Instagram? How do you think this makes me look in front of the pack?"
"I’ve explained it to you already, Sariyah doesn’t have much time left. Can’t you even fulfill her little wish?"
Perhaps sensing my silence, Forest’s tone grew increasingly cutting.
"Luna Aleena, how could I have bonded with someone as selfish as you? Are you heartless enough to deny her a chance to leave a legacy?"
Hearing his words filled me with disgust.
Forest, my mate, wanted to be with another she-wolf and have a pup, yet expected me to accept and even support it?
Besides, was Sariyah’s wish really just to sleep with Forest, losing her so-called innocence?
Ridiculous.
At that moment, any lingering feelings I might have had for this bond vanished completely upon hearing those words.
With a cold laugh, I told him, "You’re not my mate anymore. How is that my concern?"
"From now on, you and Sariyah can have ten pups for all I care. Oh wait, maybe you want me to help raise your spawn?"
"Ha, Beta Forest, I have never met a wolf as shameless as you."
After that, I severed the mind link, fighting the urge to howl. Even a second longer with him felt like bad luck.
As you can see, the reason for my bond dissolution was absurd: Forest wanted to help his childhood friend with a terminal illness fulfill her wish to conceive a pup as her legacy.
A week ago, Forest suddenly told me Sariyah was back.
Upon hearing those words, I instinctively gripped my phone, pretending not to care while asking why she had returned.
Because I knew too well how much Sariyah meant to Forest.
Forest pursed his lips, his eyes slightly reddened.
"She’s in the late stages of a terminal illness and wants to spend her last moments back home."
Initially, although I was bothered by their past, considering Sariyah had little time left, I reluctantly accepted Forest frequently visiting her.
But I never expected, two weeks later, Forest would suddenly approach me with hesitation, saying he had something to discuss.
I was confused, yet seeing his serious demeanor, a sense of foreboding rose within me.
Forest hesitated for a moment before firmly declaring, "I want to have a pup with Sariyah."
"What?"
Hearing this, my mind went completely blank. What did he mean by telling me he wanted to have a pup with another she-wolf?
