The Moon Goddess Gathering was supposed to be my crowning moment. Six years of sacrifice, of pouring my heart and soul into the Crescent West Pack, all leading up to this night when Maddox would finally claim me as his Luna. My Alpha Rejected Me for My Enemy Omega Chapter 1

The Moon Goddess Gathering was supposed to be my crowning moment. Six years of sacrifice, of pouring my heart and soul into the Crescent West Pack, all leading up to this night when Maddox would finally claim me as his Luna.

I stood beside him on the ceremonial platform, my fingers trembling slightly as I smoothed down the silver silk of my gown. The entire werewolf council watched with expectant eyes, the moonlight bathing the clearing in an ethereal glow.

"Tonight," Elder Patricia announced, her voice carrying across the hushed gathering, "we witness the union of two great bloodlines."

My heart pounded against my ribs. After years of waiting, of doing the work of a Luna without the title, I would finally have my place secured.

Maddox stepped forward, his broad shoulders squared beneath his ceremonial cloak. I took a deep breath, preparing for the words I'd longed to hear.

But something in his eyes made my wolf stir uneasily.

"I have an announcement," Maddox declared, his voice ringing with the unmistakable power of an Alpha tone.

The air around us seemed to thicken, pressing against my skin like a physical weight.

"I, Alpha Maddox Lane, reject you, Lyra West."

The words hit me like a physical blow. Gasps rippled through the crowd as I staggered back, my wolf howling in confusion.

"I reject our betrothal," he continued, each word slicing through me. "The Moon Goddess has shown me my true path."

Before I could process what was happening, Maddox reached into the shadows behind the platform. A slender hand emerged, followed by a woman whose smirk cut deeper than any claw.

Rosalie Carpenter stepped into the moonlight, her Omega scent mingling with Maddox's as she pressed herself against his side.

"This is my true love," Maddox announced, his arm snaking around her waist. "Rosalie will be my Luna."

I waited for the searing pain of our bond breaking, the agony that should accompany such a rejection. Instead, I felt something strangely hollow—like a string snapping that had never been properly tied.

"The ceremony will take place next month," Maddox continued, not even looking at me. "All packs are invited to witness our union."

I stood frozen as whispers erupted around me. My father's face had gone ashen in the front row. Lexi, my Beta and closest friend, was already moving toward me, her eyes blazing with protective fury.

---

"Lyra, my daughter." My father's voice cracked as I entered his tent. "I'm so sorry."

I kept my spine straight, refusing to let my shoulders slump despite the weight crushing my chest.

"The pack is in trouble," he continued, pacing the confines of our temporary shelter. "Without Maddox's alliance... the Northern packs are threatening our borders. Our finances are stretched thin after the drought last season."

"What does that have to do with me?" I asked, though I already knew.

Alpha Marcus stopped pacing and met my eyes. "Alpha Forrest Morgan of the Bloodmoon Pack has offered help."

"The Bloodmoon Pack?" I repeated. "They're rumored to be ruthless."

"They're offering financial backing, military support." My father's voice dropped to a whisper. "In exchange for a marriage alliance."

Understanding dawned cold and heavy. "With me."

Forrest Morgan was nearly sixty, a warlord who had expanded his territory through blood and intimidation. The thought of being his bride made my skin crawl.

"It's the only way to save the pack," my father said, his eyes pleading. "You've always put the pack first."

I closed my eyes, remembering the hollow feeling when Maddox rejected me. Was this my fate? To be traded from one Alpha to another?

"I'll do it," I said finally. "Better to be a strategic pawn than a rejected pity case."

---

I folded my ceremonial dress with steady hands, packing away the silver silk that would never see its intended purpose. My room in the pack house felt both suffocating and achingly familiar.

The door burst open without warning. Maddox strode in, his eyes gleaming with something that might have been regret if I didn't know him better.

"So you're off to New York," he said, leaning against the doorframe. "To marry that old man."

"Alpha Morgan is offering what you wouldn't," I replied evenly.

Maddox's gaze fell on the velvet box on my dresser. Before I could stop him, he snatched it up, flipping it open to reveal the Luna's ancestral amulet—a crescent moon pendant that had been promised to me since our betrothal began.

"This doesn't belong to you anymore," he said, pocketing the necklace. "It belongs to a real Luna."

"Give that back!" Lexi shouted, appearing behind him. "That's Lyra's by right!"

Maddox shoved her aside with a growl. "It belongs to Rosalie now."

As he turned to leave, I caught Lexi's arm. "I'll come back for you," I whispered. "I promise."

Then I straightened my spine and walked past Maddox without looking back, heading toward the waiting jet that would carry me to my new life.

The Inter-Pack Summit's grand hall glowed with ceremonial torches, casting dramatic shadows across the faces of the most powerful Alphas in the region. I stood at the entrance, my silver aura radiating outward in controlled waves—not a display of emotion, but a calculated reminder of the Silvermoon Pack's strength under my leadership. Marcus positioned himself precisely one step behind me and to my right, his presence a silent comfort through our private mind-link. *They're all watching for weakness,* he observed, his thoughts flowing into mine with familiar ease. *Then they'll find none,* I replied, scanning the room with measured indifference. Alpha Kaelen Blackwood approached first, his dark eyes evaluating me with the same predatory calculation I recognized in myself. "Alpha Victoria," he greeted, inclining his head just slightly enough to acknowledge my status without suggesting submission. "Your champion has brought considerable attention to the Silvermoon territory." "As intended," I replied coolly, the subtle tap of my index finger against my thigh the only outward sign of my strategic assessment. Ryan Mitchell had indeed brought attention—attention I had meticulously orchestrated over five years of investment. The rogue I'd salvaged from starvation had been molded into a weapon that now represented Silvermoon dominance in combat.

The bass from the karaoke bar pulsed through my chest like a second heartbeat, each thump making my temples throb. I watched Lucca laughing with his pack brothers, his arm slung casually over Delta Marcus's shoulder as they belted out some terrible rendition of an old pack anthem. The crowd was a sea of familiar faces from Silvermoon, all here to celebrate our territory's founding anniversary. I'd been smiling for two hours straight, playing the perfect Luna-to-be, but the noise was finally winning. 'I need some air,' I murmured to Mira, who nodded with understanding before turning back to her own conversation. The cool night air hit my face like a blessing as I slipped through the bar's side door. Silvermoon territory at night was beautiful—the trees rustled gently, and moonlight painted everything in silver and shadow. I took a deep breath, letting Selene, my wolf, stretch contentedly within me. For just a moment, I could pretend I was alone with the night sky. Then I heard Lucca's voice.

The day before the wedding, the extravagant custom-made Victorian-style dress my husband ordered finally arrived. I gently touched my slightly rounded belly and asked him for a divorce. Colton's secretary called, her voice trembling as she explained, "Mrs. Carpenter, this is all my fault. I misunderstood your preferences. Please, don't blame Mr. Thompson." After gathering my belongings, I was ready to leave, dragging my suitcase behind me, when I ran into Colton just coming home. He saw the suitcase in my hand and furrowed his brow, his voice cold and detached. "Mina, you're still upset?
