Going Live: Bank Robbery, Bestie Meltdown Chapter 1

Right after getting reborn, the first thing I do is start a livestream with the equipment I've brought to the main entrance of a bank.

There, I humiliate myself on purpose just to attract the viewers' attention. Immediately, tens of thousands of viewers flock to my channel.

After that, I take off my high heels on the spot and throw them at the armored truck that's carrying cash with all my might.

"Get down! Don't move!"

As I listen to the guards' stern warnings and watch as they aim their guns at me, I just spread my arms with a smile on my face.

"This is a robbery! Hand over the money!"

In my previous life, my business partner, Zachary Leed, and the finance director of my company, Yvette Sanders, had betrayed me.

They used the perks that came with their jobs to receive illegal loans while using my company as a collateral asset. In the end, they fled with the cash, leaving me with the shitty aftermath to deal with.

I was given a life sentence in jail in order to atone for the crimes Zachary and Yvette had pinned on me. My brother went all over the nation and spent all of his fortune just to seek justice for me, but he ended up dying from depression.

When I open my eyes again, I yell loudly to the viewers watching my livestream at the moment.

"Everyone, you shall witness the most historic moment ever! Come with me as I rob a bank right in front of your eyes on this livestream!"

The sirens of the police car grew louder as they loomed closer.

Two guards flanked me and clamped my wrists behind my back, yet the smile on my face never wavered.

The camera livestreaming this scene was pointed at me, and the view count had already surpassed 100,000.

The comments were scrolling by in a frenzy.

"This woman is insane, right? Robbing an armored truck? She's got to be the boldest criminal of the year!"

"She looks like an office worker. What made her snap like this?"

"I'll bet five bucks it's either heartbreak or bankruptcy. Well, she's got herself a one-way ticket to prison now."

The police quickly set up a perimeter and dispersed the onlookers. A middle-aged man, seemingly the police captain, walked up to me with his brows deeply furrowed.

"Name?" he asked.

"Wendy Sloan."

"Why did you do it?"

I looked up at him, and my smile widened as I retorted, "Isn't it obvious, officer? For the money, of course."

The captain was taken aback by my attitude. He waved his hand, and two other police officers stepped forward to place cold handcuffs on me.

As they escorted me into the police car, I spotted my so-called business partner, Zachary Leed, in the crowd. He was holding his phone, pale-faced.

Standing next to him was my best friend, Yvette Sanders, the company's finance director. She was covering her mouth, and her eyes were wide with shock. However, beneath that shock was poorly concealed glee.

Perfect. They were here.

In my past life, the two of them had used my name and the company's assets as collateral to get a 500-million-dollar loan from this very bank. Then, they vanished into thin air.

As the company's legal representative, I became the sole scapegoat. Multiple charges piled up—including illegal fundraising and financial fraud—and I was sentenced to life in prison.

In order to fight my conviction, my brother sold his house and begged everyone he could. The stress wore him down eventually, and he passed away.

The day I got the news in prison, I was heartbroken and cried until I exhausted all my tears. I had slammed my head against the wall, wanting nothing more than to follow him.

When I opened my eyes again, I had returned to 10:00 am on the day Zachary and Yevtte were scheduled to finalize the loan at the bank.

I knew that at 11:30 am, armed with my forged signature and the company seal, they would complete all the procedures.

Before that happened, I had to use the most extreme method possible to get myself blacklisted by every bank in the city. No bank would approve any loans for a "crazy woman" caught robbing an armored truck.

I closed my eyes as the police car started moving.

Zachary, Yvette, in this life, we would play by different rules.

…

I was taken to an interrogation room that had a cold metal chair and a single glaring light overhead.

I watched my husband, the most feared Capo in New York, sign away our marriage with the same cold indifference he usually reserved for ordering a hit. He thought he was signing routine shipping manifests for the family business. In reality, he was signing the "Dissolution of Union" papers I had hidden beneath the cover sheet. He was too distracted to check. His eyes were glued to his encrypted phone, frantically texting Sofia—the widow, the tragic beauty, the woman who had haunted our marriage for three years. "Done," he grunted, tossing the stack into his armored SUV without even glancing at me. "Business is concluded, Elena. We leave." Moments later, his phone rang with her special emergency tone. His demeanor shifted from cold boss to frantic protector instantly. "Driver, divert. She needs me," he roared. He looked at me with zero affection and ordered, "Get out, Elena. Luca will take you home." He kicked me out of the car into the pouring rain to rush to his mistress, completely unaware he had just legally granted me my freedom. I stood on the curb, shivering but smiling for the first time in years. By the time the Don realizes he just signed his own divorce, I will be a ghost in San Francisco. And he will have nothing left but his shipping logs and his regret.
