Dumped And Accidentally Married A Billionaire Chapter 1

Chapter One Dumped and married. I was already at the court where David and I would be getting married. It has been an hour and I haven't seen any sign of David yet. I wondered what must have been holding him back as I picked up my phone to call him. He didn't pick up after calling him several times. My whole body trembled with intense worry. Where did he keep his phone? Where was he at the moment? A thousand and one thoughts continue to run through my mind. I tried my best to remain composed although I was already losing my temper. The magistrate was already asking me to come in with my partner who is nowhere to be found when my phone rang. I sighed with relief ready to give David a piece of my mind for doing this to me. Today of all days. Our special day. The word he spoke next shattered my heart into a million pieces. “Diana…I can't be with you anymore…I have found someone else who I really love”, “Go home, I will come and meet you later”, he voiced out with little or no concern in his voice. I rolled my eyes in disbelief, very sure David was playing a prank on me and I wasn't in the mood to play. “Be fast..or we are going to be replaced”, I responded ignoring the word he spoke to me. “I am serious Diana..I am about to board a flight to Dubai..I am starting a new life there with Ophelia”, he added. “What do you mean by that?”I asked oblivious of the fact that I have been arguing in the courtyard for over ten minutes now. Today was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. David was supposed to meet me up at ten-thirty to have our wedding. “David…it's getting late please come”, my voice pleading. “Diana…it seemed like you don’t understand what I just said, I…I am not coming”, David said. I felt tears streamed down my eyes uncontrollably ruining the makeup in my eyes. “I…I don't think I love you so much to want to get married to you and live in the same house with you”, my heart sank. I have been suspecting David to be cheating on me but the love I had for him was so strong that I pretended and when he asked to marry him I couldn't deny the joy I felt to finally be chosen by him. “David…I love you so much…we can make this work just come let's get married… please…I am waiting for you”, I begged. He ended the call without giving me a warning leaving me wallowing in self-pity. He knew my dream of getting married and still chose to shatter them into pieces. I didn't know which hurt the most. David left me to be with another woman who happened to be my best friend. Foolish me!..I thought we were building a future together. What I didn't know was that David was pretending all along and stabbing me behind my back. I tightened my fists into a fury as I picked up my phone to call my bank manager to freeze our joint account. “I am so sorry Miss Diana..he has withdrew every single penny from the account”, My head is spinning round, and round. I wanted someone to wake me up from this bad dream I didn't sign up for. I dialed his number again and realised it wasn't going through again. David had blocked my line. I squatted right there in the courtyard. I didn't care if people were watching me. I just had my heart yanked out and broke into several tiny pieces. I cried my eyes out and couldn't help but overhear a conversation of a man that was standing less than a foot away from me. “Where is she?..I can't find any one here”, he voiced out “Sorry sir..let me get in contact with you here”, his assistant voiced out. “I don't have the whole day…I need the lady so I can get this over with”, he yelled. “I won't be here if my grandfather hasn't insisted that I get married or else he won't let me have company”, he cursed. “I am sorry sir”, someone spoke from the other end of the line. He sighed deeply, muttering a few inaudible words to himself. “I knew grandfather wanted to make sure the company was in safe hands before leaving this world but this disappointment wasn't what I signed up for”, I guess in a bid to make him proud he had gone through an agency and hired a random lady who was to get married to him. I sat down without saying anything. She was nowhere to be found after collecting part-payment “I thought you said she would be here on time”, he shouted at his assistant once more, getting impatient already. “I am sorry sir, let me try and reach her again”, Brian said, cutting off the call. “What a waste of my time”, he sighed out loud and annoyed. The phone rang again. He picked it up. “Her company is unable to get a hold of her”, his assistant responded. “She is currently unreachable, why don't you come back let's reschedule with the company they will send us someone else”, “I am not going to leave this place without a marriage certificate”, He replied. He was not intentionally putting pressure on his assistant. He just needed the result immediately. I stood up from where I was seated and was about to fall when the most handsome man I have ever seen in my life caught me in his arms. “Be careful and watch where you are going young lady”, he said, pulling me away. “I am sorry”, I whispered My name was called again and since I didn't have any reason to be here. I straightened myself properly and mustered the little courage in me. “I will marry you”, I said. “What?” I looked at him and saw that he was totally shocked to hear it from me. I barely knew this man and here I was agreeing to a marriage with him. “You need a wife don't you”, I asked again. “Yes I do” he replied and I could see that he felt that I was the answer to his long time prayers. “I was dumped on my wedding day and overheard you talking of how you need a wife”, I replied not wanting to bore him with too many questions. “Let's get married then”, he replied. “I am desperate in need of a wife and I don't want to be picky”, I excused myself as I found the nearest restroom and went in to quickly clean my make-up which had been destroyed. I have no tools to re-touch so wiping it off was the best thing for me to do. I returned to find him still standing, looking strikingly handsome in his perfectly tailored suit. My stomach fluttered with relief that I wasn't going to be marrying an eyesore. I couldn't deny the fact that he was such an extremely handsome and gorgeous man especially with his eagle-like piercing eyes. In fact I could tell he was far better-looking and richer than my ex. David. I followed him as we both sat down facing the judge. Who didn't waste time as the marriage ceremony began. The two witnesses stood behind us as the Judge was prepared to join us together. The process was shorter than expected and soon I was legally married to a stranger. “I now pronounce husband and wife”, he exclaimed. I blinked multiple times. I could not believe that I just got married. Under normal circumstances I was supposed to give my husband a big kiss on his lips. Looking beside me at the stranger I couldn't believe he was now my husband.

I thought the Burch family gave me a loving home when they took me out of the orphanage. But when the global deep freeze apocalypse hit, my adoptive parents mercilessly kicked me out of the bunker to freeze to death. As I lay dying in the snow, covered in horrific purple frostbite, my adoptive sister Kendal walked past me in a pristine designer jacket. Around her neck was my only childhood possession—an antique gold necklace my adoptive mother had ripped off my neck to give to her. Kendal gloated, bragging that my pendant held a magical space with infinite supplies and fresh food while the rest of the world starved. I realized I had spent years emptying my life savings to fund their luxury cars and fake medical emergencies. They had drained my bank accounts, stolen my bloodline's heirloom, and used my magical lifeline to live like royalty while leaving me to die. I took my last ragged breath in that blinding blizzard, consumed by a toxic hatred. Why was I so hopelessly weak? Why did I let them take everything from me? Opening my eyes again, the painful frostbite scars were gone. My skin was warm. I grabbed my phone. The screen lit up: November 12. It was exactly three days before the world ended. When my adoptive mother called, faking a tearful emergency to demand another thirty thousand dollars, I smiled coldly. "Just tell me where to send the money, Mom." This time, I'm taking my space back, and I'm going to drain them dry.

Later, when that same mistress shoved me down the stairs, shattering my knee and my dance career, Jax stepped over my broken body to comfort her. I overheard him telling his friends, "I’m just breaking her spirit. She needs to learn she’s property, not a partner. Once she’s desperate enough, she’ll be the perfect obedient wife."
