The crystal chandelier above the Obsidian Pack’s grand ballroom cast a fractured light over the crowd, but it couldn't hide the cracks in my marriage. I stood in my floor-length silver gown, the fabric shimmering like the moonlight my birth pack, Moonstone, was named for. I was Daleyza Morgan, daughter of one of the most powerful bloodlines in the country, and yet, here I was, watching my mate make a fool of me. It was Alpha Bradley’s birthday. As his Luna, I should have been the one standing at his right hand during the toast. Instead, I was relegated to the periphery while Kelly, his "childhood best friend," clung to his bicep like a burr I couldn't brush off. "To Alpha Bradley!" a visiting dignitary shouted, raising his glass. Bradley beamed, his handsome face flushed with drink and adoration. But before he could thank his guests, Kelly giggled. It was a sound that grated on my nerves like claws on a chalkboard.

When My Alpha Let His Mistress Rule Our Pack Chapter 1

She smoothed her dress, feigning shyness, though her voice carried purposefully to the back of the room.

"Oh, Brad!" she squealed, looking up at him through her lashes. "You didn't tell them about my birthday present! Bradley promised to take me to the coast next week. Just the two of us, to unwind."

The room went stiff. The murmured conversations died instantly.

I stepped forward, my posture rigid. "That is impossible," I said, my voice calm but carrying the weight of my station. "Next week is the Council of Elders meeting. The Alpha is required to be there to renew our territory treaties."

Kelly didn't even look at me. She just smirked at Bradley, tracing a finger down his lapel. "Oh, Luna Daleyza, don't worry about his schedule. Brad says he needs to check with me before making any plans... even bedroom ones. He doesn't want me to feel left out of the decision-making."

A collective gasp sucked the air out of the room. The disrespect was palpable, a physical slap to my face. She wasn't just claiming his time; she was claiming dominion over his intimacy, over the sacred bond between mates. I looked at Bradley, waiting for the roar of his Alpha nature. I waited for him to push her away, to defend his Luna, to restore order.

Bradley looked down at his shoes, his face turning a mottled red. "Now, Daleyza," he muttered, his voice weak and devoid of command. "Kelly is just... sensitive. She didn't mean it like that."

He didn't mean it. He wasn't going to fix it.

Something inside me snapped. It wasn't the sound of a heart breaking; it was the sound of a chain breaking. My wolf, Selene, who had been pacing in the cage of my ribs for years, threw her head back and howled for blood.

*Show them,* Selene snarled. *Show them what a true Alpha looks like.*

I didn't cry. Tears were for the weak, and I was a Morgan. I walked into the center of the circle, the crowd parting for me like the Red Sea. I didn't look at Bradley. I looked straight at Kelly, who was still smirking, thinking she had won.

I didn't yell. I didn't scream. I simply let the leash go.

A wave of pure, unadulterated power exploded from my body. It wasn't the warm, protective aura of a Luna; it was the crushing, suffocating dominance of an Alpha. The air in the room grew heavy, gravity intensifying until the floorboards groaned.

Wolves around us stumbled, clutching their chests. Kelly’s eyes went wide, her smirk vanishing as the pressure hit her like a physical blow. Her knees buckled.

I infused my voice with the Alpha Command, a tone that vibrated in the marrow of every wolf present.

"Kneel, Omega."

It wasn't a request. Kelly collapsed to the floor, gasping for air, her hands scrabbling against the polished wood as if trying to crawl away from the weight of my presence. She whimpered, her fragility no longer an act.

"Daleyza!" Bradley shouted, stepping toward me. "Stop it! You're hurting her!"

He tried to push back against my aura, but his power was thin, diluted by his own cowardice. His voice cracked, squeaking like a pup's. He couldn't even stand fully upright in the face of my rage.

I turned my gaze to him. The love I had once held for him was rapidly cooling into ice. "If you cannot control your pet, Bradley," I said, my voice lethal and low, "I will."

I held his gaze until he looked away, defeated in his own home. Silence reigned supreme, broken only by Kelly’s pathetic sobs.

I turned on my heel and walked out of the ballroom, the train of my silver dress sweeping over the floor where my marriage had just died.

I didn't stop until I reached the sanctuary of my private quarters. I locked the heavy oak door and leaned against it, my chest heaving. The adrenaline was fading, leaving behind a cold, hollow ache. I walked to the balcony doors, staring up at the full moon.

My hand found a crystal water glass on the side table. I gripped it, the image of Kelly’s hand on Bradley’s chest burning in my mind. I squeezed. The crystal shattered with a wet crunch. Shards bit deep into my palm, and blood welled up, dripping onto the pristine carpet. I didn't feel the pain. I welcomed it. It was better than the numbness.

I walked to the hidden safe in my closet, ignoring the blood dripping from my fingers, and pulled out a burner phone. I hadn't touched it in three years. My hands shook as I dialed the number I had memorized a lifetime ago.

It rang once.

"Daleyza?" The voice was deep, steady, and familiar. Like coming home.

"I need you, Finn," I whispered, my voice finally breaking.

There was no hesitation. No questions about why I was calling or what had happened. Just the roar of an engine in the background and the unwavering loyalty of the only male who had never let me down.

"I know," Alpha Finn replied, his tone dark with a promise of retribution. "I'm already in the air. ETA one hour."
