The Tokyo investors' faces stared back at me from the boardroom's massive screen, their expressions a mixture of skepticism and interest. I kept my voice steady, my back straight, as I guided them through Sterling Enterprises' expansion proposal. This deal would cement our presence in the Asian market—a goal I'd been working toward for the past eighteen months. "As you can see from the projections, gentlemen, our partnership would yield a fifteen percent increase in market share by the end of the fiscal year," I said, tapping my Mont Blanc pen rhythmically against my leather portfolio—a habit that surfaced whenever I was deep in strategic thought. Mr. Tanaka, the lead investor, leaned forward. "Ms. Sterling, these numbers are impressive, but we have concerns about—" My phone buzzed silently on the table. I glanced down, expecting to see my assistant's message about the quarterly reports I'd requested. Instead, a video notification from an unknown number lit up my screen.

When His Affair Exposed My Billion-Dollar Secret Chapter 1

"Ms. Sterling, these numbers are impressive, but we have concerns about—"

My phone buzzed silently on the table. I glanced down, expecting to see my assistant's message about the quarterly reports I'd requested. Instead, a video notification from an unknown number lit up my screen.

I frowned slightly but maintained my professional smile. "Excuse me one moment, gentlemen."

I discreetly opened the message under the table, keeping my expression neutral as I held Mr. Tanaka's gaze. The video began to play, and my world tilted on its axis.

Ryan—my husband—was in his SoHo studio, the late afternoon sun casting golden light across his bare shoulders. And he wasn't alone. Isabella Rodriguez, his model, was wrapped around him, her dark hair cascading over both their naked bodies as they entangled on the vintage leather couch I'd purchased for his workspace last Christmas.

"Victoria's in L.A. until Thursday," Ryan's voice, casual and dismissive, floated through my earbuds. "She's too busy with her precious business empire to notice anything anyway."

Isabella's laugh was light, teasing. "What if she finds out?"

"She won't." His confidence cut through me like a blade. "And even if she did, what's she going to do? Have one of her little stress meltdowns and threaten divorce for the hundredth time?"

My fingers tightened around the phone, but my face remained a perfect mask of professional attentiveness.

"Besides," Ryan continued, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper that nonetheless came through crystal clear, "she thinks she's pregnant. As if I need that complication in my life right now."

The air left my lungs. My pregnancy—my secret joy, the news I'd been saving to share with him at his exhibition next week—was nothing but an inconvenience to him. A "complication."

Isabella's response faded into background noise as a strange calm settled over me. It wasn't shock or denial—it was something colder, more focused. In that moment, watching my husband betray not just our marriage but the future I thought we were building together, something crystallized within me.

"Ms. Sterling?" Mr. Tanaka's voice pulled me back to the boardroom. "Is everything alright?"

I looked up, my smile perfectly in place, though it felt like my face might crack from the effort. "Yes, Mr. Tanaka. Just a minor issue that requires my attention."

I pressed the intercom. "Sarah, could you come in, please?"

My assistant appeared immediately, clipboard in hand.

"I need you to take over this presentation," I said quietly. "Family emergency."

The concern in her eyes was genuine, but she nodded professionally. "Of course, Ms. Sterling."

I turned back to the screen. "Gentlemen, I apologize, but I must attend to an urgent matter. My assistant Sarah will continue the presentation. She's fully briefed on all aspects of the proposal."

I gathered my things with deliberate calm, even as my mind raced through calculations and strategies that had nothing to do with business.

Once in my private office, I locked the door and sank into my chair. I replayed the video once more, each word cutting deeper than before. Then I picked up my phone and dialed a number I'd hoped never to need.

"Eleanor Vance's office," came the crisp response.

"This is Victoria Sterling. I need to speak with Eleanor immediately."

"One moment, Ms. Sterling."

Eleanor's voice was warm but professional. "Victoria, this is unexpected. How can I help?"

"I need you to prepare divorce documents," I said, my voice steady despite the earthquake happening inside me. "And I need you to gather every detail of my husband's financial entanglements with my accounts. Don't file anything yet—just have it ready."

There was a brief pause. "I understand. When would you like to meet?"

"Tomorrow. I'm booking a flight to New York now."

As I ended the call, I opened my laptop and booked a seat on the next private jet to New York. Ryan thought he knew me—my reactions, my weaknesses. He was about to discover how wrong he was.

The woman flying back to New York wasn't the supportive wife he'd taken for granted. She was the CEO who had built an empire from nothing, who closed deals that made grown men sweat, who never, ever lost.

And she was carrying precious cargo that deserved better than a father who saw it as a "complication."

The pack run had been Marcelo's idea. He'd announced it three days prior at the weekly council meeting, his Alpha tone leaving no room for debate. A show of unity, he'd called it. A reminder that the Black Moon Pack moved as one body, one purpose. I'd watched him from my seat at the far end of the table—the Luna's chair, though I'd stopped feeling like a Luna months ago—and said nothing. Petra Voss had nodded approvingly. The other council members had murmured their agreement. Rosalina, seated closer to Marcelo than protocol allowed, had smiled that soft, adoring smile she always wore around him. I should have known then. The territory's northern river was swollen from early spring melt, the current fast and mean.

The Plaza Hotel's bridal suite was bathed in soft morning light as I stood before the ornate mirror. My reflection stared back at me—eyes bright with anticipation, cheeks flushed with excitement. Today was supposed to be the beginning of forever. "You look beautiful," my makeup artist had whispered just moments ago. "Caspian won't know what hit him." I smiled, touching the delicate lace of my custom Vera Wang gown. Ten years of love, of building a life together, all culminating in this perfect day. My fingers trembled slightly as I adjusted my veil. "I'm just nervous," I whispered to my reflection, trying to calm the flutter in my stomach. The lights above me flickered once, twice. I frowned, glancing upward.
