The Husband She Erased Chapter 1

My wife's first love crashes his car into me at 75 miles per hour, throwing my body over 65 feet across the road. As I am moments away from drawing my last breath, I use the remainder of my energy to call my wife. Focused on helping him cover up his crimes, she brushes me off before hanging up.

"I'm busy—stop bothering me," she spits.

Little does she know, the man who was just killed… is me.

I had died.

I lay alone on the empty street as my blood stained the ground beneath me. After I drew my last breath, my spirit drifted to my wife and watched as she embraced her first love with a frantic expression.

"Calm down, Gabriel. Don't worry. I'll help you and make sure that you stay out of prison," said my wife, Sarah Lloyd.

Her first love, Gabriel Scott, was curled up in her arms.

With a horrified look on his face, he said in a trembling voice, "You're the only person who can help me, Sarah. I only had a few drinks. I didn't mean to hit him. You're a lawyer—you know how to get me out of this, right?"

She stared at him in a sympathetic manner while she repeatedly promised that nothing would happen to him. Subsequently, she pulled out her phone to call me. But before she could place the call, he agitatedly snatched the device away from her.

"What are you doing, Gabriel?" she asked quizzically. "I was going to call Alex so he could come over and get rid of your car for us. Leaving the car with you will raise suspicions."

Gabriel averted his gaze. "Let's not tell Alex, Sarah. What if he calls the police?"

Sarah's expression instantly turned cold.

She clicked her tongue in disdain and said, "He wouldn't dare. He literally just called me minutes ago. He must've wanted to ask me to hurry home. If I tell him I'll return after he moves the car, he'll definitely show up."

Then, she added in a condescending manner, "He hasn't acted like a real man in years. He does whatever I tell him to do. You have no idea how weak and cowardly he is, Gabriel. He's worse than a sniveling mutt."

Gabriel was Sarah's first love. However, her family didn't approve of their relationship. She'd planned to run away to another country with him, but she couldn't get in touch with him during the most crucial moment.

She ended up marrying me out of spite, but she didn't love me. She felt that I was unworthy, weak, and nothing like a real man. So, she'd always looked at me with contempt. In her eyes, I should be grateful that I was able to marry her in the first place.

In truth, I only obeyed all of her wishes because I wanted to do right by her and make amends. I didn't think she'd think so lowly of me because of how I'd been acting.

Gabriel had only returned a month ago, yet Sarah's entire world was already revolving around him. Even as a spirit, I could still feel my heart ache. She was solely focused on asking me to help him destroy evidence; it had never occurred to her that doing so might make me look like a suspect too.

Still, her decision no longer had anything to do with me. I was dead. I was killed by Gabriel, her childhood friend, in a hit-and-run incident. I was afraid she hadn't realized that the blood on his car actually belonged to me.
