Call Me Daddy. Chapter 1

Amelia's POV

I can't believe my father finally won our little bet. I was so sure I would win, and I was actually leading.

I still want to believe he did something behind closed doors because how did I manage to emerge as the best graduating business and finance student in my year?

Just how? I was so pissed because I remember doing everything to sabotage my grades.

Well, now I'm back in New York, and I absolutely hate it here. Cleveland was so peaceful, staying with Mom and Mindy, her cat who clearly hated me.

Don't let me bore you with their divorce. Let's go back to how Dad is about to force me to work for him since winning our bet. He has one of the biggest tech companies in the whole of the United States, so he is famous and rich.

I knew his company staff hated me. I was spoiled and I never failed to show it, but I was kind at heart if that counted? I used to stroll into his office like I owned the place until college, now I was done and back to base.

Dad pulled me into a suffocating bear hug when I arrived. He loved his daughter way too much, and I loved that he always had time for me.

Maybe that's why I preferred him to mom even though I'm the best at hiding it.

"Amelia, my cute little princess!" His eyes lit up, staring at me, scanning me to check if I lost weight. I rolled my eyes.

"I'm not little anymore dad. I'm a solid twenty three year old. I can take care of myself."

"You'll always be my princess. Let's get inside." He was overexcited, and it made me feel special. I couldn't help but spread a smile across my cheeks. Home was warm.

Upon walking in, we met a blonde woman setting the dining table for lunch. She looked like she was in her early thirties.

"Amelia! You're here. Your dad told me all about you!" She chirped excitedly, pulling me in for another heart stopping hug.

When we pulled away, I faced my dad. I needed an explanation. He soon got the message and after clearing his throat, he told me who she was.

His girlfriend. My dad had a girlfriend. Wow, just wow.

"Meet Brittany, my girlfriend. Brittany, my daughter."

I forced a smile, unsure of how to take in what I was hearing. She seemed nice though, but she was nothing like mum.

I dragged my dad across the living room, all the way to the long corridors.

"You have a girlfriend now? And you didn't tell me?" Surprisingly, I wasn't that mad. I wasn't mad at all. I liked her already, plus it's been an awful long time since they divorced. I even thought he would never find women attractive again so I am glad, but I heard mum divorced him. So, it must've been because he did something.

His grin was wide, heavily mischievous too like he knew something.

"You didn't tell me about your boyfriend either, Amelia. I hope he hasn't touched you?"

What the hell? I gagged, disgusted.

"You've been spying on me? Do you realize how creepy that is? Why would you even do that?"

"Because you're so stubborn and I need to keep you safe. Go to your room and freshen up, we're expecting a visitor. You know, concerning the bet I won?"

He was gloating so I glared at him.

"Someone I know?"

"You'll see."

.....

Brittany had the table set already by the time I was done. A hearty dinner. My heart danced in my chest as I stared at what I was looking at. Mom barely cooked and damn, I missed home made meals.

"Sweetie, come have a seat." She beckoned me, and smiled wide. I don't know, but I suddenly had a feeling that I'll really like daddy's girlfriend. Dad walked in too, but with the said visitor.

A visitor I knew quite well. Uncle Dane.

For sure, I remembered him. One of Dad's younger associates, in his early thirties. He had this terrifying aura to him since I last remembered and yeah, it followed him right to dinner.

He looked...hot. Okay, I take that back, even though it's true. He shouldn't look hot to me. Dad was chatting with him as they both slid into their seats and he reintroduced us like I didn't know who he was.

"You know my daughter, the one I was talking about earlier, the best graduating student..."

Then Uncle Dane's gaze shifted to me, and he just stared at me as Dad spoke. I paused, still, like it was an order from him. I couldn't help but stare back, at his face, his suit and I just continued the cycle of staring back.

"Nice to meet you again, Amelia."

He gave me a curt smile right after but I, on the other hand, was getting uncomfortable.

He acted strangely. My dad made small talk as we ate and anytime I would face my plate and take a spoonful of food, I would feel his eyes on me, electric, heavy. He was staring at me.

But he was trying to make me look crazy because when I raised my head up, he would look away and pretend to listen to dad. It soon became a game for us, a silent one.

I finally caught him, and when our eyes locked, his darkened. His jaw ticked and I noticed tension across his shoulders.

He didn't shy away this time. Instead, he tried to intimidate me with his stares, he dared me to keep staring back.

Heat crept up my thighs, and it suddenly felt too hot to breathe. No this can't be happening. I immediately thought of Coby.

There we go. I'm hot and bothered because I'm thinking about my boyfriend, not this scary man sitting across from me, there.

His eyes eventually dipped, stared hard at my throat before looking away. For the rest of dinner, he didn't look in my direction.

I can't believe it made me disappointed.

Uncle Dane is hot, and he seemed to be in the age range with Brittany.

Dad dragged us both to the living room after the meal for a meeting, and I just kept my eyes on Dane for some reason. He intrigued me now.

I was fascinated with the way he talked, the way he handled things to perfection, his well tailored suit, his rather scary walking steps that made him feel invincible.

He seemed to be a very cool guy that any woman would want to have. Except me though, I'm in a committed relationship and last I checked, Uncle Dane has this woman he parades around.

When we sat down, I watched him this time around. Hell, I couldn't even take my eyes off him, and then his eyes slowly found mine. I felt so intimidated but I couldn't look away as our eyes were locked on each other. His didn't linger, it dipped, again.

I wasn't dressed inappropriately, but he kept staring at my chest and my throat ever so shamelessly. I hated how aware he was making me. Eventually he spoke to me after Dad told him a couple of things, like how I was looking into a one year internship.

"Amelia, what do you know about financing?" The way he called my name was so teasing. I've never felt this type of way about this man until today.

"I'm not obligated to answer such questions." I wanted to stand up and run away, I was getting bothered and suffocated with him for even riling me up at all.

"Why? Because you don't call me daddy?"

I swallowed. What the hell?

"You only listen to your daddy?" He continued.

I glared at him. Again, his eyes darkened to a perfect black. I understood the double meaning quite well.

"Yes, I only listen to my father."

"Millie, behave." Dad warned sternly, so oblivious to the crazy situation going on right in front of him. This man wanted something but I certainly don't have it, or maybe I was just imagining things?

Well, that meeting ended great. Whatever.
