Rejected Mate Becomes Queen Novel Cover

Rejected Mate Becomes Queen

The powerful rumble of my motorcycle vibrated through my body as I pulled into the Moonstone Hotel's courtyard, the sleek black-and-silver machine gleaming under the morning sun. Behind me, Leo's small arms tightened around my waist, his excited giggles warming my heart even through the leather of my courier jacket. "Mom, that was awesome!" he exclaimed as I cut the engine. "Can we go faster next time?" I laughed, helping my five-year-old son dismount before swinging my leg over the bike. "Any faster and Alexander would have my head, little prince." Leo's eyes—so much like his father's—sparkled with mischief. "Dad says you're the fastest rider in the pack!" "And that's our little secret," I winked, adjusting the leather satchel containing the alliance documents Alexander had entrusted me to deliver. Today was "bring your pup to pack duties" day, and Leo had been bouncing with excitement all morning at the prospect of accompanying me. I straightened my courier outfit—practical black pants and a fitted jacket with the Royal Lycan Court insignia subtly embroidered on the sleeve. It wasn't the flowing gowns I typically wore at court, but I'd always preferred function over flash for actual work. As we approached the hotel entrance, I noticed the uniformed attendants exchanging glances.

Chapter 1

The powerful rumble of my motorcycle vibrated through my body as I pulled into the Moonstone Hotel's courtyard, the sleek black-and-silver machine gleaming under the morning sun. Behind me, Leo's small arms tightened around my waist, his excited giggles warming my heart even through the leather of my courier jacket.

"Mom, that was awesome!" he exclaimed as I cut the engine. "Can we go faster next time?"

I laughed, helping my five-year-old son dismount before swinging my leg over the bike. "Any faster and Alexander would have my head, little prince."

Leo's eyes—so much like his father's—sparkled with mischief. "Dad says you're the fastest rider in the pack!"

"And that's our little secret," I winked, adjusting the leather satchel containing the alliance documents Alexander had entrusted me to deliver.

One whispered to another, their eyes darting between my motorcycle and my attire with poorly disguised disdain.

"Excuse me," I said politely, Leo's small hand in mine. "I'm here for the pack duties event."

The taller attendant stepped forward, his nostrils flaring slightly as he attempted to catch my scent. His eyes narrowed at my practical attire, clearly mistaking me for something less than I was.

"The delivery entrance is around back," he said curtly, his tone dismissive. "This entrance is for pack members only."

"I am—" I began, but was cut off by the second attendant, who had moved to block Leo.

"Children aren't allowed in the service areas," she said, physically positioning herself between my son and the entrance. "If you're making a delivery, the child will need to wait outside."

I felt my inner wolf bristle at the woman touching my son, but before I could respond, a commotion at the entrance drew everyone's attention.

Time seemed to slow as a familiar figure strode through the hotel doors, his Alpha aura preceding him like a suffocating cloud. Brandon Hayes. His arm was wrapped possessively around a heavily pregnant woman draped in designer clothes that practically screamed "trying too hard."

Five years hadn't changed him much—still handsome in that conventional, forgettable way, still carrying himself with that inflated sense of importance that had once seemed so impressive to my younger self.

Our eyes locked, and I watched recognition dawn on his face—first confusion, then shock, and finally a cruel smile that twisted his features.

"Well, well," he drawled, his voice carrying across the courtyard. "If it isn't Aria Blackwood."

Beside him, Victoria Sterling—the woman he'd chosen over me—tightened her grip on his arm, her eyes narrowing as she recognized me.

Brandon's gaze traveled from my face to my courier outfit, then to the motorcycle behind me, and his smile widened with malicious delight.

"Deliveries now, Aria? How the mighty have fallen." He stepped closer, his Alpha tone emerging as he addressed the staff. "This one used to think she'd be Luna of the Shadowmere Pack. Now look at her—a rogue reduced to courier work."

The staff immediately stiffened at his Alpha tone, casting newly suspicious glances my way. Brandon's eyes then fell on Leo, who had instinctively moved closer to me, his small hand tightening around mine.

"And what's this?" Brandon's voice dropped dangerously as he studied my son's face. "Those eyes... that's Shadowmere blood." His expression darkened. "You were pregnant when you left."

I pulled Leo slightly behind me, my protective instincts flaring. "Brandon—"

"That's Alpha Brandon to you, rogue," he snapped, his Alpha tone washing over me like it once had the power to do. But things had changed in five years—more than he could possibly know. "Is this my son you've been hiding from me?"

The accusation hung in the air as Victoria stepped forward, her hand protectively over her swollen belly, her eyes gleaming with malicious triumph as she surveyed what she believed was my fall from grace.
