Reborn Bride: Four Extraordinary Fiancés Are Fighting Over Me Chapter 1

Growing up, Kylee Gordon was the daughter her family loved and valued the most.

Since she was young, her grandfather, Jerold Campbell, had already selected four outstanding men for her to choose from as her future husband.

When the time finally came for her to decide, she didn't go with any of the four. Instead, she picked Alexander Wallace, who was gentle and attentive.

Yet right after the wedding, he died in a car accident. From that day on, Kylee lived alone for thirty years, holding onto his memory.

Lying on her deathbed in the hospital, she saw him with her own eyes—Alexander, the man she'd believed dead for all those years, was still alive.

...

A harsh cough broke from Kylee's throat.

She lay on the hospital bed, her body weak as she struggled to breathe through the oxygen mask.

Late-stage lung cancer had drained her. The doctors had already said she didn't have much time left.

The door opened without warning.

Kylee slowly turned her head, and the moment she saw who had arrived, her dull eyes widened.

Five people stood at the entrance.

The man she had mourned for thirty years. A woman she knew well. And three unfamiliar young faces.

"Kylee." Alexander's voice sounded as soft as before, though faint lines now marked his face.

Kylee's lips trembled, fog forming against the mask. "You... you're alive?"

Dressed in a gray suit, Alexander looked no older than his forties.

His hand was tightly clasped with Cathy Gordon's.

Cathy, her half-sister, had always stayed in the background, acting weak and pitiful.

"I'm sorry, Kylee." Alexander stepped closer as he spoke, and the three younger people followed behind him. "I deceived you."

Kylee's gaze dropped to their intertwined hands.

Cathy lowered her head slightly and stepped forward. "Kylee, Alexander only married you because he was worried you'd make things hard for me if you found out about us. The truth is... he's always loved me."

Alexander continued, "Kylee, I know this isn't fair. But for thirty years, you've lived as the Gordon family's heiress and Mrs. Wallace. Everyone respected you. Cathy, on the other hand, has only had me."

Kylee's fingers tightened around the blanket until her nails pressed hard into her palm.

Even the sting couldn't calm the anger surging through her chest.

"We heard about your condition," Alexander continued, his tone carrying a trace of concern. "That's why we came back. We wanted to see you... and ask for your forgiveness."

Cathy reached out and lightly pulled at his sleeve before gesturing to the three behind her. "Kylee, these are our children. Our eldest, Zara Gordon. Our second, Briley Gordon. And our youngest, Nolan Gordon."

The three stepped forward, their gazes fixed on the frail figure lying on the bed, their expressions hard to read.

"I've already spoken to them," Cathy said, her voice trembling. "From now on, they'll look after you like their own mother. You never had children, and I hope this brings you some comfort."

Rage shook Kylee's body, and the pain in her chest grew so intense her vision dimmed.

How ridiculous.

The fact that she never had children was entirely Cathy and Alexander's fault.

While she mourned Alexander's supposed death, he had been with his lover, satisfied with deceiving everyone.

Kylee had been left behind, using her inheritance and the Gordon family's power to keep the failing Wallace family afloat.

She took care of his parents. She carried the company. She worked until her body gave out.

Even though Alexander's tragic death had nothing to do with her, the Wallace family still hated her—all while he had been living comfortably with Cathy, building a life and raising children.

Kylee's eyes locked onto the two of them, disgust rising as blood filled her throat.

"Get out... all of you!" With what little strength she had left, she pushed Cathy away. "I can't stand the sight of you."

Cathy lost her balance and fell to the floor.

Alexander rushed to help her up, then turned sharply toward Kylee. "That's enough! Cathy came here to apologize. She's carried this guilt for years. You're already at the end, so why can't you show any kindness? Why are you still treating her like this?"

Their children looked at Kylee with cold expressions. "No wonder Dad chose to leave everything behind for Mom. His first wife turned out to be so cruel."

Some of the younger Wallace relatives nearby added quietly, "Kylee, now that Uncle Alexander is back, you should let go of the past. Things weren't easy for him either. If you hadn't insisted on marrying him, none of this would've happened..."

Kylee stared at Alexander and his family, her eyes burning red with fury.

After all she'd given, they dared to call her cruel? Unbelievable!

Pain tore through her chest again. She tried to speak, wanting to curse them with everything she had left.

But her body had no strength left to give.

Darkness closed in.

Her awareness slipped further away, yet one thought stayed clear.

If she were ever given another chance, she would never choose that bastard again.

...

"Kylee, have you made your choice?"

Jerold's familiar voice reached her ears, filled with concern. "I know you've always favored Alexander, but..." He let out a heavy sigh. "I still don't think he's right for you. You're already of age. If you keep dragging your feet on marriage, your father will step in. I'm afraid you'll be the one who suffers. Why not meet the others first? Any of them is better than him..."

Hearing that voice again left Kylee stunned. She lowered her gaze in disbelief and realized she was lying in a luxurious bed.

Flames flickered inside the marble fireplace. Paintings she had created over the years covered the walls.

A framed photo rested beside the bed, showing her mother holding her as a baby.

This was her room in Jerold's estate.

Could it be... she had returned?

Had she gone back to the moment before her marriage was decided?

Mistaking her silence, Jerold sighed once more, "Alright. I'll contact the Wallace family."

"No, Grandpa! I won't marry Alexander!" Kylee grabbed his hand, her own trembling. "I'll listen to you. I want to meet all of them before I decide."

Jerold looked at her in surprise. "Are you serious? Weren't you set on marrying Alexander?"

Kylee slowly tightened her fists.

In her previous life, she must have been blind to cling to him so stubbornly.

The four men her grandfather had chosen were all remarkable.

A pianist known worldwide.

The successor of a powerful financial empire.

An actor who had already reached the peak of his field at a young age.

And a renowned surgeon respected even by royalty.

Each one far surpassed Alexander.

Now that she had been given another chance, she would choose the best among them.

Relief appeared on Jerold's face.

"Good! I'll make the arrangements right away. We'll host a grand gathering so you can meet them. There's a charity auction tonight. Go enjoy yourself and pick any jewelry you like. You'll be dressed to the nines and steal the show at the party."

Kylee gave a small nod.

The moment her car stopped at the auction venue, her eyes landed on Alexander and Cathy walking toward the entrance together, their hands linked.

As soon as he noticed her, Alexander let go of Cathy's hand without thinking. "Why are you here?"

Before Kylee could answer, Cathy quickly moved behind him, shrinking back.

"Kylee, don't get the wrong idea. I just ran into him by chance."

That weak act only made Kylee feel more disgusted.

"My business has nothing to do with you." Her gaze turned cold. "Move aside."

Cathy froze in surprise.

Based on how Kylee usually behaved, she should've reacted with jealousy.

So why was she so indifferent now?

Lowering her head, Cathy softened her voice even more. "Kylee, please don't take this out on Alexander because of me. If my presence bothers you, I'll leave right now. You should stay with her, Alexander. I don't want to cause problems between you."

Alexander's expression hardened. He stepped forward and seized Kylee's wrist.

"Kylee, I know you resent your father and stepmother, but Cathy has done nothing wrong. She didn't choose her birth. For years, she's carried the burden of being an illegitimate daughter and endured how you've treated her. Isn't that enough?"

His gaze turned sharp, his tone firm. "I brought her here because her birthday is coming up. I wanted to get her a gift. I don't care how you found out, but you're going to apologize to her right now. Do that, and I'll let you come inside with us."

A faint, mocking smile appeared on Kylee's lips. She lifted her hand and struck him across the face.

"Why should I apologize, Alexander?" she said coldly. "I didn't even do anything to her. And yet you two just had to walk up to me and wreck my mood. I don't want to go to the auction with you. Now get out of my way."
