Loving the Wrong One Chapter 1

My husband, Finn Dawson, and I get into a car crash on our way home for the holidays.

When I open my eyes again, I find myself back to before Finn and I started dating.

In my past life, we were married for seven years. We got along well enough, yet he refused to give me a child. Only later did I find out it was because he was still hung up on his true love.

Now that I've been reborn, I decide to give him what he wants. He and I delete each other's numbers and keep our distance. We choose wholly different paths in this life.

Seven years later, Finn becomes one of the world's best traders. He and his true love, Yvonne Gray, make things official during a class reunion.

When he sees that I'm alone, he can't help but mock me. "I know I'm the one you love most, despite living two lives, Sylvia. You don't have to keep waiting around for me, though."

I ignore him and hold my son's hand. The blood drains from Finn's face when he sees this, and his eyes turn bloodshot. He snarls, "Didn't you say you would love me forever? Didn't you say you would only have my children?"

I met Finn Dawson again at our class reunion seven years later.

I had just completed several operations. I was so tired that I didn't feel like changing, so I walked straight into the banquet hall.

Finn stood in the middle of the crowd with his arm around Yvonne Gray's waist and enjoyed the praise that kept coming his way.

"Finn, you're incredible! After just a few years on Wallon Street in Harbor City, you've already become the most promising trader! You're the pride of Abgate High School!"

"Exactly! I heard that the big shots on Wallon Street even treated Finn to dinner. They paid him hundreds of thousands just in consulting fees. That's more than a whole year's salary for ordinary people like us!"

"Finn, I've been dabbling in stocks too. Could you share a few inside tips and help me make some money?"

Someone in the crowd grew curious and asked, "Finn, are you and Yvonne getting engaged?"

Finn looked down at Yvonne in his arms with gentle eyes. He said, "Yeah, we're getting engaged on December 20th."

More congratulations echoed around them.

An old classmate asked, "Finn, do you still keep in touch with Sylvia? Back then, you two were crazy in love. I heard that your first song was written for her!"

The moment my name came up, I noticed Finn's smile freeze. His eyes turned guarded.

Yvonne, standing beside him, offered a polite smile and answered, "Come on. Finn and I are about to get married. Teen hobbies don't last, and neither does teen love. He let go of Sylvia long ago."

The crowd laughed and went on to compliment how well Finn and Yvonne looked together. But I knew that song was the one Finn wrote when he confessed to me.

In my previous life, Finn and I had been a couple. We fell for each other at first sight. He once looked at me with complete sincerity and said, "Sylvia, look into my eyes. I like you. The eyes never lie."

I believed him. Unfortunately, in that life, he still lied.

I kept a calm expression and walked farther into the hall. A sharp-eyed classmate from the past spotted me and said, "Sylvia! Why are you so late?"

"Why did you come in casual clothes? You should have changed into something formal."

"Did you just get off work? Where are you working now? We have plenty of successful classmates here. They can help you find a better job!"

Several people scoffed at my outfit. However, I didn't mind. I just smiled and remained polite.

From the moment I stepped inside, Finn's gaze never left me. I greeted him politely, "Long time no see."

Finn paused, his eyes unreadable. Then, he sneered. "Sylvia, you haven't changed after all these years. You're still just as unambitious."

Yvonne shot me a resentful look. She hugged Finn's arm tighter like she wanted to stake her claim. She cooed softly, "Finn, how can you talk to an old classmate like that? She's had a hard life. We shouldn't kick her when she's down. Sylvia's been through enough."

She looked me over and smirked. "But Sylvia, what are you wearing? It seems very strange. You're not that young anymore. You should take better care of yourself. Otherwise, you won't even find someone to marry.

"What man would want a woman who looks unkempt? Would you like me to lend you some makeup?"

As soon as she finished speaking, their old classmates couldn't help but burst into laughter.
