Chapter 5

Maya's POV

"Excuse you?" He ached an eyebrow, his eyes already glinting with anger.

I took a deep breath before releasing it. Not right now, arguing or bickering with him could get me fired and I can't really afford that right now.

I doubt I would be able to get another job that would pay this much with a place to stay.

I really don't want to go back and live with my so-called father.

"Nothing." I forced a smile on my face. "I was just asking you to tell me the subjects that are tough for you."

"I thought as much." He scoffed before he leaned back in his seat, pretending to think for a minute before speaking up. "All."

Of course, he would have difficulties with all subjects. He wasn't a dullard but he wasn't a scholar either.

How he manages to make it to the top three still shocks me, sometimes just ten percent away from pushing me to the third position.

"I will recommend we start with easier subjects. For quick assimilation." I walked closer to him, about to sit on the couch next to him but the look on his face told me I would regret it if I did.

I cleared my throat and sat on the floor beside his leg. "We can start with English if you want."

"Not English. Let's start with biology." He huffed out.

I glance up at him confused, does he even know what he is saying at all?

"But, you don't take biology classes." I muttered.

"What exactly are you being paid for, Maya?" He asked, glaring daggers at him.

I gulped down before opening my mouth to respond. "To tutor you and babysit your sister."

"And what's stopping you from tutoring me about biology?" He asked.

"Nothing." I forced a smile and grabbed my own biology. I made sure he was no longer holding his phone, who knows what kind of video he would make of me next.

I started summarizing and explaining everything I knew about biology to him. But he didn't even look the slightest bit interested in what I was saying.

He looked really bored, why would he ask me to tutor him in biology when he isn't even interested in it.

But I continued anyway and only stopped when he raised his hand for me to stop talking.

"That's enough for today." He said, already getting up from the chair.

"But, we have barely spent thirty minutes. Your class isn't supposed to end until the next hour and thirty minutes." I complained, standing to my feet.

"My homeworks are on the table. I expect them to be done and already on my table before six pm." He gestured to the books on the table.

"But..." I stopped talking as he walked away from me.

Well, I tried my best.

"Can't even do his own homework by himself." I grumbled, grabbing the books and heading back to my room.

I dropped the books on my bed, alongside my own homework before deciding I needed a snack. I have barely had anything to eat today, except coffee and a piece of cookie.

I got to the kitchen, shocked as I saw a woman. She was in a maids uniform, I don't remember having seen her around since I got here.

"Good evening." I greeted as I stepped further into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water from the refrigerator.

"Good evening." She bowed. "I'm guessing you must be the young master's girlfriend."

I spat out the water I was drinking, even almost choking at her words.

How could she think I was his girlfriend?

Didn't anyone tell her about me already?

"Sorry." She ran towards me, a look of concern on her face.

"Thank you, I'm fine." I smiled faintly at her. "And I'm not his girlfriend."

"Ohh, sorry I must have made a mistake. I have never seen you around and saw you in the living room with him earlier." She smiled awkwardly, scratching the back of her neck.

"It's okay. I'm Maya, his new tutor and sister's babysitter." I introduced myself with a smile.

"Rose, I just started here as the maid." She replied.

"Well, nice to meet you, Rose."

"It's nice to meet you too." She nodded and I returned with a smile before she went back to what she was doing.

I grabbed the snack I came to the kitchen with, taking the bottle water with me in case I needed to hydrate.

"Now, let's see what we have here." I opened Jaxson' books and started going over the questions.

Answering the ones I could and searching for the remaining answers in his textbooks. I got up the bed as I finished, stretching my limbs before grabbing the books and leaving my room.

I can't wait for his sister to come back, maybe then, he will realize I have to spend more time taking care of her and I don't have time to do his homework for him.

Instead of entering his room, I dropped the books by his door instead. I didn't want to take the risk of going inside and him making another video of me.

I was trying my best to stay away from him and his room. I want the only time I get to see him was during school hours and time for his tutoring sessions.

I went back to my room, finishing up my own homework before deciding I wanted to take a walk around the place.

I haven't taken a tour since I arrived here, courtesy of the one and only Jaxson.

I walked around the house, not opening any doors. I wouldn't want to get in trouble because I wanted to look around the house.

The house was even bigger than I thought. I knew it was big but I just didn't expect this many rooms to be in the house.

How rich are the Wynn's exactly?

Maybe the kind of rich that makes their name appear in the magazine almost every year.

Just as I was about to turn around and call it a day, soft music reached my ear.

My legs moved by themselves, taking me to where the music was coming from.

I peeked through the slightly opened door to see Jaxson playing the piano.

Wait, he plays the piano!!!

That's new, I never thought he was capable of doing something and especially playing these nice sounds.

"What are you doing there?" I snapped back to my senses as Jaxson turned to look at me.

"Shit!" I muttered, running away and not even bothering to look back.
