Chapter 6

Maya's POV

I shifted more closer to the car door, leaving a huge space between Jaxson and I.

I was going to school with him today, for two reasons actually. One, I almost passed out when I woke up this morning.

My legs hurt so bad from walking a long distance and two, Jaxson had asked me to get in the car himself.

More like threatened. He said he was going to report to his father that I wasn't teaching him anything and that would have caused my pay to be slashed in half and I really can't afford that right now.

And also, he has been acting weird since yesterday evening when he caught me watching him play the piano and I ran away.

I thought he was going to chase after me but, surprisingly, he didn't. I saw him during dinner but all he said was I shouldn't say a word to anyone about him playing the piano.

Else, he would make my already miserable life, even a bigger mess.

"You are getting off, here." Jaxson announced as the car came to a stop, not bothering to spare me a glance.

Of course, he wouldn't want to be seen with me coming down from his car at school.

And truthfully, I wouldn't want that either.

"Thank you." I smiled even if he didn't see it and got out of the car.

Thankfully, he had the conscience to ask me to drop me just a minute walk away from the school. I gripped my bag tighter, as I walked towards the school.

Preparing myself mentally for the day ahead of me.

Tiffany clung to Jaxson’s side all day, not that it bothered me but she wouldn’t stop mentioning my name.

I don’t know what they are saying about me but, I know whatever it is wasn’t good.

I avoided them all day, only seeing them when we had classes together and even then, I made sure to avoid them like a plague.

“Ms. Grey,” the teacher called out and I instantly stood up, looking at Mr Whelan confused and wondering what I did wrong.

“Can you help me hand out these results back to the class?” Mr Whelan asked.

“Yes, Sir.” I nodded and went up to his desks, taking the results from him and giving it back to the students, according to their names.

I heard snickers as I was passing the papers around but I paid no mind to it.

I took in a deep great as I got back to my seat, focusing on the ongoing class and not the students, making fun of my plus size and how I almost bumped into desks.

The class ended and I waited for everyone to leave before grabbing my backpack, bidding bye to Mr Whelan before leaving the class.

I went straight to the restroom, splashing water on my face and staring at myself through the mirror.

“You are holding up, pretty well, Maya.” I mumbled under my breath. “Just two more hours and I will be back in my little comfort zone.”

I groaned as I remembered my comfort zone wasn’t so comfortable, it had the devil’s reincarnate in it.

Jaxson Wynn.

“What are you doing here?” I heard the least voice, I had expected to hear speak to me today, talk.

I didn’t respond to her. Maybe if I keep quiet, she will get the clue and leave me alone.

“Are you deaf?” She asked again.

“What do you want from me, Tiffany?” I demanded. “I have done my best to make sure I don’t get in anything that concerns you today.”

“Are you talking back to me?” She grabbed me by the shoulder forcefully to face her. “I hope you still remember all that I have done and can still do to you.”

“That’s why I made sure to stay out of your way.” I deadpanned. “You are the one that sought me out.”

“Please.” She laughed bitterly, turning the faucet on and washing her hands.

“You must be insane to think I came here because of you.” She continued.

“Then, I guess I can take my leave now.” I said.

I know I could just walk out on her but I didn’t want to risk her tripping me and making me fall face down on the restroom floor.

“You will only leave after I do.” She said, her tone sharp a reminder that i should keep my mouth shut and not try to upset her.

“Do one thing for me…” she paused, turning to look at me before she continued. “Stay the fuck away from Jaxson. I don't even want you breathing in the same air as him.”

“How am I supposed to do that when he is always the one in my space. I’m his prey, remember, and very soon, he will come looking for me to carry his books back to the library.” I questioned.

“I don’t care about how you do it but stay away from him.” She hissed, pointing a finger to my chest.

“And don’t think I have forgotten that you forcefully kissed him. I will get you back real soon.” She continued.

“Ouch!” I screamed as she pushed me, making me land on my butt.

“That small push and you fell to the ground, such a shame.” She shook her head slowly. “You can come meet me for tips though.”

She didn’t need to expatiate, I already knew the tips she was referring to.

“Thank you, but I will not be needing your tips. You might need mine for your nose though.” I snickered as I got off the floor.

A gasp left her mouth as she looked at me shocked. “You did not just say that to me.”

“I just did.” I affirmed.

We heard footsteps approaching us and before I knew it, Tiffany cried out as she tripped herself and fell on the floor.

Slapping herself hard across the face. “Maya!”

“What’s going on here?” Sophia, one of her minions asked as she stepped into the bathroom.

“…can you believe what this wretched girl did to me?” Tiffany cried out. “She slapped and pushed me.”

“No I did not.” I was quick to defend myself.

“And why is she on the floor, if you didn’t?”
