Escape from Heartless Husband Chapter 1
My daughter and the son of my husband's first love were in a terrible car accident. As the attending physician, my husband immediately decided to allocate the rare AB negative blood to Jireh. I swallowed my pride and, in front of everyone, knelt to beg him. His response was cold and calculated: "Marianna's condition is stable compared to Jireh's critical state. I have to prioritize the most severe case."
At that moment, a few mysterious lines of text appeared before me:
[The blood in storage could have saved both, but the male lead was so worried it wouldn’t be enough that he used it all on someone else’s child.]
[After the daughter dies, the female lead soon ends her own life. Hang in there, everyone; there will be a time when this jerk will regret everything.]
Seeing my daughter in grave danger, I ignored the nurse's protests and burst into the operating room.
Trading two lives for genuine remorse was an ending I refused to accept.
Logan looked shocked when I barged in, sweat beginning to gather on his brow. Without hesitation, he hurried over and slapped me hard across the face.
“You’re being reckless! This is an operating room; it has to remain sterile! Thank goodness the surgery hadn't officially started, or you might have jeopardized my patient’s safety!”
His eyes flashed with anger, and the young nurse beside him trembled as she quickly explained:
“Dr. Ryan, I told Ms. Riley she couldn’t come in, but she wouldn’t listen. I... I couldn't stop her.”
“Enough! Get her out, and start preparing for surgery again.” With a mere glance from Logan, several assistants surrounded me, ready to escort me out.
“She’s acting crazy, disregarding everyone’s safety,” he muttered, ignoring the ire boiling within me.
“You’re the one ignoring lives!” I shouted, wrenching free and pointing to Jireh on the operating table. His injury was just a minor fracture in his lower arm, the blood loss was minimal compared to Marianna’s condition.
Not being able to differentiate between urgency and priority was one thing, but wasting the vital AB negative blood meant for Marianna was unforgivable.
“Jireh is injured but doesn’t need more than a pint.”
“You’ve used six pints already. What about Marianna? Does her life not matter?” My voice quivered with rage, and weakness threatened to knock me off my feet.
“Caroline, I'm warning you, stop this nonsense. Even if Jireh’s injuries aren’t critical, can you guarantee there won’t be complications?” Logan’s face was pale with restrained anger.
“As a doctor, I have to prepare for every potential emergency. What if more blood is needed? I can't take any chances.”
“Get out, or if lives are lost because of the delay, can you handle that guilt?”
His words made my head spin, and more lines appeared before me:
[I wish I could reach through the screen and smack him. How can someone who neglects his own daughter be trusted as a doctor?]
[Sigh, knowing that sweet little Marianna might soon be gone breaks my heart.]
[Logan Ryan will regret costing his daughter’s life and driving the lead to despair. I can’t wait to see his world collapse.]
Rubbing my eyes in confusion, I noticed that no one else could see these bizarre comments. They only tried to calm me, coaxing me to leave the operating room.
“I know you’re worried about Marianna, but she’s my daughter too. I won’t let her down, so stop worrying, okay?” Logan struggled to keep his temper in check as he tried to console me.
["Oh dear, the male lead lies effortlessly. As soon as the surgery ends, he’ll be off to see Theodora, ignoring Marianna’s well-being.]
[Hey, don't spoil it for those who haven’t caught up!]
The onslaught of comments exposed Logan’s true colors, sinking me deeper into despair. I realized that if I didn’t act fast, Marianna would truly be lost.
I steeled myself and, in the chaos, lunged toward the operating table, grabbing a scalpel from the tray and pointing it at Jireh, who lay unconscious...
