Betrayed By My Alpha Mate Novel Cover

Betrayed By My Alpha Mate

The night I was crowned the Luna of the Silver Moon Pack, I was dragged into a secluded forest clearing, attacked, and scarred. Acid was thrown on my face, leaving permanent marks that would forever remind me of my disgrace. The footage of the assault spread across the packs, and I became a pariah, stripped of my rank and burdened with debts I couldn’t hope to repay. Caleb Medina, my mate and Alpha of the Crimson Fang Pack, swore he would never abandon me. He promised to stand by my side, even as I worked tirelessly to repay the debts he claimed he couldn’t cover. I took on every task I could, from patrolling the borders to training the young warriors, desperate to prove my worth. Six months later, while patrolling the outskirts of our territory, I stumbled upon a conversation that shattered my world. Caleb’s voice, cold and calculating, carried through the trees as he spoke to one of his Betas. “Caleb, Maia’s been your mate for six years. You orchestrated her attack to benefit Indy Morrison, and you allowed her to be scarred.

Chapter 2

I hung up the phone and opened the Instagram app I hadn’t used in ages. “Maia Perry scandal” was still trending at the top.

"Anyone who hasn't seen it yet? $5, DM me!"

"I'm interested!" "Same here!" "Just sent a DM."

"Why'd she get involved with those rogues? Such a disgrace to werewolves everywhere—what Alpha would want her now?"

"Getting tangled with one of them on the street... Who knows which packs she’s betrayed over the years."

Reading through the comments was like experiencing social death. It couldn’t get much worse. Since the incident happened in rogue territory, the perpetrators were impossible to catch. The video of my violation was going viral on major platforms worldwide. “Silver Moon Pack’s Star in the Streets” was a headline that felt both glaring and painful.

The Crimson Fang Pack had already pulled their alliance, and my own Silver Moon Pack had stripped me of my Delta rank, branding me a disgrace. The agency I had always trusted didn’t manage the crisis but allowed the video to spread like wildfire. To make it worse, they sued me for breach of contract, demanding a huge penalty, claiming my scandal severely impacted their business. The contract, signed by Alpha Caleb Medina on my behalf back then, turned out to be his carefully laid trap—he owned the company all along.

I didn’t have the energy to continue my patrols. Exhausted, I dragged myself back to a run-down apartment on the outskirts of the pack territory. On my way, a torrential downpour started. The rain mixed with the sores on my face, stinging painfully. My head was spinning as I reached the door. Before I could open it, I heard unmistakable sounds of a passionate encounter from inside.

“Oh, Alpha Caleb, be gentle! The new lingerie you just got me today is already ripped…”

Caleb’s voice was filled with desire.

“You little tease, you’ve been driving me crazy. I’m going to make sure you’re satisfied today!”

“Stop it! I have a hunt tomorrow. But doing it on Maia’s bed is such a thrill!”

“You’ve kept giving her banned substances to keep her face from healing. Seeing her on patrol today nearly made me sick!”

My heart sank; no wonder my face was always sore and never healed properly. I thought about the so-called herbs Caleb had been giving me every night. It crushed me inside.

An hour passed before the door opened. Indy Morrison stood there, her neck marked with Caleb’s bite. She looked surprised to see me but then smirked.

“Maia, why are you back so late? I heard things are tough for you now, so I came by after the hunt to check on you.”

“Maia, you’re back!” Caleb was sitting on the couch. His pants were wrinkled, and his shirt was on backward. A wet stain marked the sofa beneath him. He got up to greet me, pretending to care.

“Why didn’t you call me when it started raining so hard? I could’ve come to pick you up. It hurts me to see you like this,” he said with feigned concern. Watching him pretend to care while openly cheating on me in my own home was chilling.

“Concern for me? Enough to sleep with my mate? How shameless can you be?” I retorted, glaring at them both.

“Why so harsh, Maia? You’ve got so much debt and a ruined face. How long will it take for you to pay it off doing Omegas’ work?” Indy chimed in, pulling a check from her pocket and tossing it at me.

“I’m just trying to help you. Alpha Caleb’s amazing in bed, makes me really happy! And you get money too. It’s a win-win, but you’re just too ungrateful!”

Noticing my gaze on Indy’s neck, Caleb awkwardly stepped in to block my view.

“Maia, I’m doing this for you! You work so hard to earn just a bit to pay off your debts. Now, just one night with Indy, and we get all this money. You should thank her!”

Their twisted sense of reality and utter shamelessness made me dizzy, as if I had traveled back to a time when rogues ruled the forests. Losing consciousness as I hit the floor, my last thought was, if I could go back six years, I’d never fall for Caleb Medina.

I should have knocked. That's the thought that keeps surfacing, even now, even as I stand in the doorway of the Alpha suite with my hand pressed flat against my belly. I should have knocked. But this is my home. He is my mate. The mark on my neck has been there for over a year. I stopped knocking on my own doors a long time ago. The scent hits me before anything else does. His musk — warm cedar and dark earth, the scent that once made my wolf press forward with hunger — tangled with something floral and sharp. Something I have known my whole life.

The scent of lavender and expensive champagne hit me the moment I stepped through the heavy oak doors of the Silver Moon Pack house. Streamers in obnoxiously bright pink draped from the chandeliers, and servants scurried back and forth carrying trays of hors d'oeuvres. It was chaos. It was loud. It was exactly the kind of spectacle Jonas hated—unless, of course, it was for Lacey. I set my suitcase down by the stairs, my shoulders aching from the three-hour drive back from the border negotiations. As the Luna, I had spent the last week smoothing over trade agreements with the neighboring pack, a job Jonas found “too tedious” for an Alpha. I expected a greeting, perhaps a nod of acknowledgment. Instead, I got silence. No one looked at me.

The air at Moonstone Territory crackled with anticipation as our convoy arrived. Three months pregnant, I felt a rare sense of peace, one hand resting protectively over my slightly rounded belly as I stepped from the car. My wolf, Victoria, purred contentedly within me, sharing my quiet joy. "Luna Victoria!" Several Silvermoon delegates rushed forward, bowing respectfully. "You're radiant today." I smiled, accepting their compliments with a graceful nod. My aura—stronger since my pregnancy—rippled around me in waves of silver light that even humans might have sensed had they been present. "Where is Alpha Michael?" I asked, scanning the gathering crowd. "Already at the ceremonial grounds, Luna," replied a young warrior, his eyes darting away too quickly. Something cold slithered down my spine. Victoria growled softly in my mind, suddenly alert.

I woke up with that familiar churning in my stomach, the third morning in a row. My inner wolf, Lily, stirred restlessly as I bolted to the bathroom, barely making it before emptying what little remained in my stomach from last night's dinner. '*This has to be it*,' I thought, pressing my palm against my still-flat abdomen. After three years as Ryan's Luna, the Moon Goddess had finally blessed us. I splashed cold water on my face and brushed my teeth, studying my reflection. My skin glowed despite the nausea, and my wolf seemed unusually protective, urging me to rest more, eat better. All the signs were there. "We need to be sure before we tell him," I whispered to Lily, who hummed in agreement. I padded back to our bedroom, noticing Ryan had left his laptop open on his desk. He'd rushed out before dawn for an emergency meeting with neighboring packs—at least that's what he'd said.

I smoothed down the silk fabric of my dress for the third time, my fingers trembling slightly. The grand hall of the Silver Moon Pack house buzzed with anticipation, every wolf dressed in their finest to welcome home our golden boy. My golden boy. Lennox had been gone for eight months on that European border mission, and every single day felt like an eternity. But tonight, he was finally coming home. Tonight, in front of our entire pack, he would formally propose our chosen mate ceremony. My father had hinted as much last week, that proud smile on his face when he'd squeezed my shoulder. "You look beautiful, Princess," my brother Marcus murmured beside me, his future-Alpha aura radiating calm confidence. Gabriel stood on my other side, arms crossed, scanning the crowd with his Gamma instincts already sharp. "He's late," I whispered, hating how my voice wavered.
