Betrayed By My Alpha Mate Novel Cover

Betrayed By My Alpha Mate

The night I was crowned the Luna of the Silver Moon Pack, I was dragged into a secluded forest clearing, attacked, and scarred. Acid was thrown on my face, leaving permanent marks that would forever remind me of my disgrace. The footage of the assault spread across the packs, and I became a pariah, stripped of my rank and burdened with debts I couldn’t hope to repay. Caleb Medina, my mate and Alpha of the Crimson Fang Pack, swore he would never abandon me. He promised to stand by my side, even as I worked tirelessly to repay the debts he claimed he couldn’t cover. I took on every task I could, from patrolling the borders to training the young warriors, desperate to prove my worth. Six months later, while patrolling the outskirts of our territory, I stumbled upon a conversation that shattered my world. Caleb’s voice, cold and calculating, carried through the trees as he spoke to one of his Betas. “Caleb, Maia’s been your mate for six years. You orchestrated her attack to benefit Indy Morrison, and you allowed her to be scarred.

Chapter 3

Six years ago, I was just an 18-year-old aspiring actress and a Delta in the Silver Moon Pack, looking for my big break when I met Caleb Medina at a private gathering hosted by the Crimson Fang Pack. The Alpha’s guests, high-ranking wolves with too much arrogance and too little respect, tried to corner me, their leering eyes and sharp words threatening to strip me of more than just my vintage-style dress. Caleb, then a rising Beta in his pack, stepped in, his alpha aura flaring just enough to silence them. He whisked me away from the nightmare, his presence a shield against their malice.

Afterward, he confided that he’d been demoted, stripped of his rank, and cast aside by his pack. He shrugged it off, saying he had nothing to lose as an orphan and could weather anything, but he couldn’t stand to see me treated that way. He said he was a fan of mine, claiming that even in supporting roles, I shone in his eyes. His words, his smile—they captured my heart entirely, and I vowed to become a star, never to be controlled by anyone again. For six years, he was by my side through countless days and nights as I worked tirelessly, taking every acting gig and attending every casting call. Whenever I felt drained and ready to give up, I’d look back and find him standing there, his presence my anchor.

But he was the source of all my nightmares.

When I opened my eyes again, two days had passed. I found myself lying in a hospital hallway, pack members passing by with scornful glances filled with mockery:

“If I were her, I’d rather be dead. Everyone must have seen her by now.”

“Her face is ruined; she looks like a ghost.”

“Goodness, wasn’t she a Delta once? How did she fall to this, unable to afford a room?”

My heart was numb when my phone suddenly rang. On the other end was Caleb’s voice, filled with false concern.

“Maia, I’m so glad you’re awake. I couldn’t get you a hospital room, so you’re in the hallway.”

“I’m working a part-time job right now and can’t visit you. Take care of yourself and ask the nurses for help if needed.”

“Caleb, honey…” came Indy’s sultry voice in the background.

The call abruptly ended.

Shortly after, Caleb sent me a series of apologetic texts.

“Maia, yesterday was my fault. I’m doing this part-time work to help pay off your debt, so you don’t have to struggle. I’m doing it for your own good, so please don’t be childish.”

“You should be grateful for Indy’s kindness. It’s rare to find someone who helps when you need it most.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at his messages.

Supposedly helping pay my debt by selling himself to a Delta from his own pack—Caleb’s performance was indeed worthy of tears.

In the past, I might have been moved and felt guilty.

After a while, when I didn’t reply, he sent me a cartoon emoji of a kiss.

I looked at the message, feeling a wave of nausea. This was the person I loved for six years, allowing him to manipulate and hurt me like a fool.

Soon after, Indy sent me a picture of Caleb kissing her, followed by a voice message dripping with provocation:

“Maia, you ugly witch, with a single word from me, everything you have will be mine!”

I ignored it, putting down my phone and preparing to leave the hospital.

Not long after, Indy, unwilling to let it go, sent me a video. I hesitated for a few seconds before opening it.

In the video, Indy moved seductively on Caleb:

“Caleb, do you love Maia?”

Sweating, caught up in his lust, he responded, “Silly girl, Maia is nothing. I’ve only ever loved you.”

“Caleb, you’ve been with her for six years for me, arranged for her to be ruined and scarred. Was it worth it?”

He paused briefly, then answered without hesitation:

“Destroying her to fulfill you was worth everything!”

I stared at the phone screen, tears streaming down as I laughed.

Six years of living in a dream—I should have woken up long ago.

I forwarded Indy’s video to a particular contact.

I quickly received a response marked with a “?”

“I want to see them fall.”

It wasn’t long before a reply came back:

“Okay!”

I should have knocked. That's the thought that keeps surfacing, even now, even as I stand in the doorway of the Alpha suite with my hand pressed flat against my belly. I should have knocked. But this is my home. He is my mate. The mark on my neck has been there for over a year. I stopped knocking on my own doors a long time ago. The scent hits me before anything else does. His musk — warm cedar and dark earth, the scent that once made my wolf press forward with hunger — tangled with something floral and sharp. Something I have known my whole life.

The scent of lavender and expensive champagne hit me the moment I stepped through the heavy oak doors of the Silver Moon Pack house. Streamers in obnoxiously bright pink draped from the chandeliers, and servants scurried back and forth carrying trays of hors d'oeuvres. It was chaos. It was loud. It was exactly the kind of spectacle Jonas hated—unless, of course, it was for Lacey. I set my suitcase down by the stairs, my shoulders aching from the three-hour drive back from the border negotiations. As the Luna, I had spent the last week smoothing over trade agreements with the neighboring pack, a job Jonas found “too tedious” for an Alpha. I expected a greeting, perhaps a nod of acknowledgment. Instead, I got silence. No one looked at me.

The air at Moonstone Territory crackled with anticipation as our convoy arrived. Three months pregnant, I felt a rare sense of peace, one hand resting protectively over my slightly rounded belly as I stepped from the car. My wolf, Victoria, purred contentedly within me, sharing my quiet joy. "Luna Victoria!" Several Silvermoon delegates rushed forward, bowing respectfully. "You're radiant today." I smiled, accepting their compliments with a graceful nod. My aura—stronger since my pregnancy—rippled around me in waves of silver light that even humans might have sensed had they been present. "Where is Alpha Michael?" I asked, scanning the gathering crowd. "Already at the ceremonial grounds, Luna," replied a young warrior, his eyes darting away too quickly. Something cold slithered down my spine. Victoria growled softly in my mind, suddenly alert.

I woke up with that familiar churning in my stomach, the third morning in a row. My inner wolf, Lily, stirred restlessly as I bolted to the bathroom, barely making it before emptying what little remained in my stomach from last night's dinner. '*This has to be it*,' I thought, pressing my palm against my still-flat abdomen. After three years as Ryan's Luna, the Moon Goddess had finally blessed us. I splashed cold water on my face and brushed my teeth, studying my reflection. My skin glowed despite the nausea, and my wolf seemed unusually protective, urging me to rest more, eat better. All the signs were there. "We need to be sure before we tell him," I whispered to Lily, who hummed in agreement. I padded back to our bedroom, noticing Ryan had left his laptop open on his desk. He'd rushed out before dawn for an emergency meeting with neighboring packs—at least that's what he'd said.

I smoothed down the silk fabric of my dress for the third time, my fingers trembling slightly. The grand hall of the Silver Moon Pack house buzzed with anticipation, every wolf dressed in their finest to welcome home our golden boy. My golden boy. Lennox had been gone for eight months on that European border mission, and every single day felt like an eternity. But tonight, he was finally coming home. Tonight, in front of our entire pack, he would formally propose our chosen mate ceremony. My father had hinted as much last week, that proud smile on his face when he'd squeezed my shoulder. "You look beautiful, Princess," my brother Marcus murmured beside me, his future-Alpha aura radiating calm confidence. Gabriel stood on my other side, arms crossed, scanning the crowd with his Gamma instincts already sharp. "He's late," I whispered, hating how my voice wavered.
