In my past life, my husband brought our daughter, who was down with a cold, to his father's hospital so she could see a doctor. Later, she was pronounced dead.

When I hurried to the hospital after hearing the news, he'd already transferred her organs to his true love's son's body.

I was jolted out of my reverie. I quickly checked with Rhonda Olsen, my mother-in-law. "Mom, Elias took Aria to see the doctor in the morning. They're still not back yet?"

Rhonda was irked when she heard those words. She pointed at me and snapped, "So what if they're not home yet? My son took that useless child to see the doctor. You're just staying home doing nothing, yet you dare nitpick about things?"

Upon hearing her response, I swiftly decided to head to the hospital. In my last life, it only took one day for those people to transfer my daughter, Aria Levy's organs into my husband's mistress' son.

I hoped I could still make it in time if I headed to the hospital now.

However, Rhonda grabbed hold of my hand when she saw that I was trying to leave. "Where are you going when you're supposed to start preparing dinner now?"

"Mom, I need to go and take care of something urgent. I won't be having dinner at home today."

Rhonda wouldn't let go of my hand. "You insolent wench, you're obviously trying to slack off! Don't even think about going anywhere today. Go and start cooking dinner in the kitchen now!"

She locked the front door from the inside right away. With the key in her hand, Rhonda trod toward her bedroom.

Without the key, it was impossible to leave the house once the front door was locked from the inside. Moreover, the only key was in Rhonda's possession.

I was really anxious and burst into tears.

"Mom, please let me out of the house now. I really have something urgent to take care of!" I stood outside Rhonda's bedroom and pleaded desperately.

Rhonda seemed intrigued when she saw how desperate I was. It even looked like I was ready to get on my knees and beg if she asked.

She waved the key in her hand and said contemptuously, "Aren't you always so smart and capable? I never thought there would come a day when you had to beg me for something."

"Mom, I'll agree to any of your requests if you just give me the key…"

Rhonda cast me a sideways glance. Then, she said nonchalantly, "Well, it's nothing much. I'm going on a trip with my friends next month. Those ladies will be wearing expensive jewelry during the trip, but I won't have anything to wear—"

"Mom, you want the set of gold jewelry I have, right?" I asked, cutting her off before she could finish. "I'll get it for you right now!"

My parents had given me a set of gold jewelry when I got married. Not only were they made with the finest craftsmanship, but each piece also weighed quite a lot.

Rhonda had been wanting to get her hands on this set of gold jewelry since the day I married into their family. She had tried all sorts of strange ways to hint at me, but I had not once agreed to give her the jewelry set.

This time, I didn't even try to argue as I handed Rhonda the jewelry set right away.

She was so happy that her eyes lit up as soon as she spotted the gold jewelry set. She quickly took the box from me.

Meanwhile, I took the key, unlocked the front door, and rushed to the hospital as fast as I could.

At the hospital, I swiftly spotted my husband, Elias Levy, who was standing at the other end of the corridor.

"Elias, stop right there!" I shouted and ran toward him.

Elias froze for a moment when he saw me, who was panting heavily because of all the running. Then, he glared impatiently at me.

"What were you rushing for? Didn't I tell you to just wait at home? Do you not trust my dad's medical skills?"

My father-in-law, Gabriel Levy, was the deputy director of this pediatric hospital. He was undeniably a skilled and experienced doctor. Still, that wouldn't change the fact that Gabriel was someone with a questionable moral sense.

I didn't want to waste time arguing with Elias. I just grabbed his wrist and asked, "Where's Aria? How is she doing? Take me to her right now!"

Elias yanked free from my grip. "What on earth are you doing showing up here and yelling at me like a madwoman? Dad and I will watch over Aria. You have nothing to worry about, so just go home now!"

I gripped Elias' arm tightly. "I'm not letting you go anywhere until you let me see Aria!"

"Get lost!" Elias kicked me so hard that I fell onto the floor. "You don't get to have a say in our family matters!"

Gabriel came out of his office just then. When he noticed how I was lying on the floor in pain, he frowned and looked at Elias. "Why did you let her come here?"

I tried to ignore the pain as I climbed to my feet and shouted aloud.

"Dad, where is Aria? I'll call the police if you don't let me see her now!"

Gabriel shot a glare at me. "What are you making a fuss for? I'll be frank with you. We didn't manage to revive Aria."

He added, "She had a case of myocarditis and had already stopped breathing. We're currently arranging to make her an organ donor…"
