Chapter 1

Prologue

( 19 years old Dana and Adria)

“ My heart is for him.”Adria said cheerily.“ I mean the way he looks at me each time is just so…” She placed her palm on her chest, heaving a dramatic sigh.

“ What about Damon?.” Dana questioned, altering Adria’s stance.

“ Tsk.. I’m not into him anymore. ” Adria said, scrunching her nose in disgust.

“ I thought you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him,” Dana said twitching her lips sideways, raising her brows.

“ That was then … when I was blind in love, Now I can see that my heart is for Alden, soon-to-be the Alpha.” Adria smiled, a dreamy look on her face.

Dana’s heart flinched a bit, what if she told her Alden’s Heart was for someone else? Alden had told her they were meant for each other and yet here is Adria, her best friend believing Alden is hers. Is something wrong somewhere? Could it be that she was mistaken?

Well, Alden had told me he loves and I love him too, I can’t give up my heart for my friend, she thought.

“What if his heart is for someone else… you know you can’t force fate.” Dana shrugged.

“ Fate?.” Adria scoffed.

“I know you care about me Dana, but don’t worry this is my destiny and I will do anything to fulfill it,” Adria said with so much confidence.

Dana tried not to laugh“ You’re just being delusional.” she rolled her eyes.

Adria stopped walking and stared at Dana“What do you mean? don’t be a hater.” She said, frowning.

Dana raised her hands in mock surrender“Okay… I’m sorry, I’m not hating.”

Adria returned to smiling, clasping her hands together“I can’t wait for the moonlight feast. Alden will be there and he’s going to look at me in my pretty dress.. that will be perfect.” She giggled

She turned to look at Dana “ Who knows if the moon goddess might give us a sign.”

Dana rolled her eyes“The feast isn’t about that. The moon goddess doesn’t give mating signs at the feast Adria.”

Adria scrunched her nose.

“ I can’t wait for when we will be mated and we will become couples.” Adria giggled as she clasped her hands together spinning around like a girl in a fairy tale.

“ You know that’s for the moon goddess to decide right?.” Dana said.

“ I don’t care about what the moon goddess decides, Alden is mine and mine alone and I won’t let anyone take him away from me,” Adria said, her voice dropping lower, her tone cold and sharp.

“Well… let’s see then.”Dana shrugged trying to keep her voice calm but her mind was racing.

There was awkward silence between them for a moment, before Adria’s voice broke the silence, maintaining a cheerful tone again.

“ Come on…let’s head back, we shouldn’t be late for the Moonlight feast, we need to go dress up fast.” She said, dragging Dana’s hand away.

“ Alden needs to see in my pretty dress.” She giggled.

The pain ripped through me like lightning, each contraction more violent than the last. I gripped the edges of the birthing bed, my knuckles white as another wave crashed over me. Outside, thunder shook the windows of the Luna's chambers, rain lashing against the glass like angry fists. "Breathe, Luna Ashlyn," the midwife urged, her face a blur above me. "The baby is crowning." I bore down with all my strength, feeling as though my body was being torn apart. Through sweat-soaked strands of hair, I caught sight of Reina Gomez standing near the fireplace, her eyes gleaming with something that made my wolf whimper. "The Moon Goddess watches," she whispered, tossing something into the flames. The fire flared green, then purple, filling the room with sweet-smelling smoke that made my head spin. "Aiden!" I gasped as another contraction seized me. "Aiden, please!" My mate stood at the foot of the bed, his face impassive as stone.

In my previous life, Alpha Johan spent eight long years in the countryside before returning to our pack’s territory. When he came back, he sighed over how his health had deteriorated during those trying years. My heart went out to him, and we began living together in what resembled a cordial but somewhat distant partnership. However, things changed when my mother-in-law, an Omega in our pack, brought a "relative" from a rival pack into our home. This relative, Noemi King, arrived with her two young pups in tow. Touched by their situation, I often gave them clothes and food. Yet, every time I tried to help, she would glance at Alpha Johan with a pained, defiant look, tears nearly spilling from her eyes. This made him look at me with growing frustration. "Who do you think you're insulting by always giving them your old clothes?" he snapped, his Alpha tone cutting through the room like a whip. After that, Noemi seemed to dress better than I did, and her pups turned into little terrors, spitting at me daily.

The ache in my left wrist always flared right before a storm, a deep, throbbing reminder of what I had lost. I stood on the expansive wrap-around porch of the Silvercrest Pack House, my fingers unconsciously tracing the jagged, ugly scar hidden beneath the sleeve of my cashmere sweater. Ten years ago, that scar had been a silver-laced blade meant for a starving rogue boy's heart. Today, that boy was coming home as Alpha. "He's late," Elias murmured from the shadows behind me. As the pack's Gamma and my adopted brother, he was the only one who didn't look at me with pity. "Alpha business," I said, keeping my voice steady. "Diplomacy takes time." But as the sleek black SUV finally crunched up the gravel driveway, the knot in my stomach tightened. The pack members who had gathered on the lawn went silent, their heads bowing in instinctual submission. I straightened my spine.

I lay paralyzed on stiff white sheets, a prisoner in my own skin, listening to the rain lash against the window like nails on a coffin. My father, Elmore Franco, didn't even look at my face as he checked his clipboard. He just listened to the steady, monotonous beep of the heart monitor-the only thing proving I was still alive. Without a hint of remorse, he pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the Do Not Resuscitate order. My stepmother, Ophelia, stepped out from behind him, wearing my favorite pearl necklace and smelling of cloying perfume. She leaned close to my ear to whisper the truth that turned my blood to ice. "It was the tea, darling. Just like your mother. A slow, tasteless poison." She chuckled as she revealed that my fiancé, Bryce, had a two-year-old son with my sister, Daniela. My inheritance had been funding their secret life for years, and now that the money was secure, I was an inconvenience they were finally scrubbing away. As my father yanked the power cord from the wall, the beeping died, and the darkness swallowed me whole. I was being murdered by my own flesh and blood, used as a bank account until I was no longer needed. I died in that sterile room, drowning in the realization that every person I ever loved was a monster who had been waiting for me to take my last breath. Then, I gasped. I woke up in a luxury hotel suite surrounded by silk sheets, five years in the past-the very morning of my wedding. Next to me lay Basile Delgado, the "Wolf of Wall Street" and my family's most dangerous enemy. In my first life, I ran from this room in a panic and lost everything. This time, I looked at the man who would eventually destroy my father's empire and decided to join him. "I'm not leaving, Basile. Marry me. Right now. Today."
