Chapter 3

By morning, everyone knew.

I woke in the guest quarters Killian had arranged on Bloodmoon territory—a room three times the size of my Omega housing, with windows that faced the forest instead of the training grounds. The bed was soft. The silence was unfamiliar. I lay there for a long moment, feeling Seraph's presence in my chest like a second heartbeat, and tried to process the fact that twenty-four hours ago I'd been invisible.

Now the entire pack was talking about me.

I could feel it even from here—the ripple of shock and gossip spreading through Silverfang like wildfire. The scentless Omega who'd exploded into a silver-white Alpha-blood wolf. The rejected mate who'd walked out of the ceremony hall and straight into an alliance with a Lycan Prince.

I dressed in the training clothes someone had left folded on the chair. Plain black, no pack insignia. When I stepped into the corridor, I found Killian waiting.

"Sleep well?" he asked.

"No," I said honestly.

He nodded like he'd expected that. "Come with me."

We walked through Bloodmoon's main hall—wolves turned to look as we passed, their gazes sharp and assessing, but no one approached. Killian's presence was a wall around me. I noticed the way they watched him. The deference that wasn't performance. The Lycan Prince wasn't just a title here. It was a fact everyone lived with.

We stopped at the entrance to the Silverfang grounds. Killian turned to me.

"I'm requesting access to your old pack's training grounds," he said. "For your use. It's within Lycan protocol—any visiting royal can requisition shared territory resources."

"You're doing this to provoke Dallas," I said.

Killian's lips curved slightly. "I'm doing this because you need space to train, and the message it sends is a convenient side effect."

I looked at him. At the calm, deliberate way he was dismantling Dallas's authority one protocol request at a time. It was surgical. Precise. The kind of strategy that didn't announce itself but left marks everywhere.

"What else?" I asked.

His smile widened. "I'll be taking meals at the Alpha's table. Addressing the Gamma directly on security matters. Standard diplomatic courtesy."

"Standard," I repeated.

"Technically," Killian agreed.

Seraph stirred inside me, her approval a low, satisfied rumble.

*He fights the way we should have fought,* she said. *With precision.*

We crossed onto Silverfang grounds just as the morning training session was starting. The Gamma—Marcus, a broad-shouldered wolf with a scar across his jaw—was running drills with the Delta warriors. He saw us approach and went very still.

Killian didn't speak. He just stood there, his Lycan aura a quiet pressure in the air, and waited.

Marcus walked over. His gaze flicked to me, then back to Killian.

"Lycan Prince," he said carefully.

"Gamma," Killian replied. "I'm here to observe your security protocols. The Lycan Council has concerns about rogue activity in this territory."

It was a lie. A polite, plausible lie that Marcus couldn't challenge without questioning Lycan authority.

"Of course," Marcus said. His jaw tightened. "I'll have a report prepared."

"Appreciated," Killian said. Then he turned to me. "Clementine. Show me what you can do."

I blinked. "Now?"

"Now," he confirmed.

The training ground went silent. Every Delta warrior stopped mid-drill and turned to watch. I felt their stares like pressure against my skin.

Seraph rose inside me, her presence flooding my limbs with a heat I'd never felt before. I stepped into the sparring circle. Killian gestured to one of the Deltas—a young wolf named Evan who'd always ignored me when I was an Omega.

"Spar with her," Killian said.

Evan looked uncertain. "Sir, I don't want to hurt—"

"You won't," Killian said flatly.

I faced Evan across the circle. He was taller, heavier, trained. I was still learning how to walk in this body without wolfsbane dulling every instinct.

But Seraph knew exactly what to do.

Evan lunged. I sidestepped, faster than I'd ever moved, and my hand shot out—instinct, not thought—and caught his wrist mid-swing. I twisted. He went down hard, his shoulder hitting the ground with a thud that echoed.

The training ground was silent.

I released him and stepped back. Evan stared up at me, his eyes wide, his wolf visibly submitting inside him. I felt it—the pull of my aura, the way his body responded without his permission.

Marcus was watching me now. Not with hostility. With something closer to awe.

"Again," Killian said.

We sparred three more times. I won every round. By the third, Evan wasn't even trying to hide his submission. He bared his neck instinctively when I pinned him, and I heard the sharp intake of breath from the watching Deltas.

When I stepped out of the circle, Marcus approached me directly. Not Killian. Me.

"That was impressive," he said quietly.

I met his eyes. "Thank you, Gamma."

His wolf flickered behind his gaze—an acknowledgment I couldn't name but felt in my bones. Then he turned and walked back to his warriors, and I knew something had shifted.

Killian and I left the training grounds in silence. When we were out of earshot, he spoke.

"Dallas's Gamma just responded to your aura in front of his own pack," he said. "That's the first crack."

I looked at him. "How many cracks does it take?"

"Depends on the structure," Killian said. "But we're not trying to collapse it all at once. We're making it visible. So when it falls, everyone knows why."

---

That afternoon, Dallas called a private meeting.

I didn't attend. I wasn't invited. But Killian's Beta—Caden, a sharp-eyed wolf with a dry sense of humor—had sources inside Silverfang, and he told me everything.

Dallas convened his remaining loyal wolves in the Alpha's private chamber. His Beta. His Gamma—though Marcus looked uncomfortable the entire time. And Arielle, who wasn't supposed to be there but positioned herself at Dallas's side like she'd earned the right.

Dallas framed the problem as Clementine being manipulated. Unstable. A wolf who'd been dormant for years and couldn't possibly control the power that had surfaced. He proposed to the elders that Silverfang formally request my return to pack protection—for my own safety, of course.

The elders were receptive. They'd seen my wolf. They'd felt the aura. It unsettled them.

Arielle spoke up then. Caden's source said she smiled when she did it.

"We should wait," she said. "Let the shock of the ceremony settle. Then we bring up the rogue-violence record from her old pack. Quietly. To the right people. By the time the Lycan Council hears about it, the narrative will already be set."

Dallas agreed.

When Caden finished the report, I sat very still.

"They're going to use the fabricated record," I said.

Killian, standing by the window, didn't turn. "Yes."

"Arielle knows it's a lie," I said. My voice was flat. "She was there. I saved her life. And she's going to use it to bury me again."

"Yes," Killian said again. Then he turned to face me. "Which is why we let them."

I stared at him. "What?"

"Let them invoke the record," Killian said. "Let them build the case. Let them present it to the elders, to the pack, to anyone who'll listen." His eyes were calm. "And then we take it to the Lycan Council tribunal, where Alpha tone compels truth and rogue witnesses can't be silenced."

Seraph growled low in my chest. Not at him. At the plan. At the fact that it made sense.

"You've been planning this," I said slowly.

"I've been planning for a lot of possibilities," Killian said. "This is one of them."

I looked at him—the Lycan Prince who'd appeared at the ceremony, who'd offered me an alliance, who'd spent the last twenty-four hours systematically dismantling Dallas's authority with the precision of someone who'd done this before.

"Who are you?" I asked.

Killian's expression didn't change. But something in his eyes shifted.

"Ask me again," he said quietly, "when this is over."

Then he walked out, leaving me alone with Seraph and the growing certainty that Killian Voss had been three steps ahead of me from the beginning.
