I stared at my phone, Nathan's name flashing on the screen. Three days into his business trip to Boston, and I'd barely heard from him. I missed him—his touch, his voice, even his annoying habit of leaving his socks on the floor. Our marriage wasn't perfect, but I thought we were solid. Happy. "Maybe he's just busy with meetings," I whispered to myself, pressing the call button. The phone rang three times before he answered. "Phoenix?" His voice sounded distracted, papers rustling in the background. "Nathan, I was just checking if you landed safely. You didn't text me back last night." "Sorry, babe.

Wife Unveils Husband's Fraud Chapter 1

I stared at my phone, Nathan's name flashing on the screen. Three days into his business trip to Boston, and I'd barely heard from him. I missed him—his touch, his voice, even his annoying habit of leaving his socks on the floor. Our marriage wasn't perfect, but I thought we were solid. Happy.

"Maybe he's just busy with meetings," I whispered to myself, pressing the call button.

The phone rang three times before he answered.

"Phoenix?" His voice sounded distracted, papers rustling in the background.

"Nathan, I was just checking if you landed safely. You didn't text me back last night."

"Sorry, babe. Late meeting ran until midnight. Just got back to the hotel."

I smiled, relief washing over me. "I miss you. I thought maybe we could talk for a bit? I could use some... connection."

There was a pause, and then a woman's voice drifted through the speaker. "Nate, is that her again?"

My blood froze. The voice was sultry, intimate—definitely not his secretary or business associate.

"Wait a sec," Nathan said, his voice muffled as he covered the phone.

I pressed my ear closer, heart hammering against my ribs.

"Jesus, she's so clingy," Nathan's voice came through clearly now. "Always needing reassurance."

"Can't you just tell her you're busy?" The woman's voice was amused, teasing.

"Not yet. The Lewis Group still has connections I need."

"And she's so... unattractive. How do you stand it?"

My stomach lurched as Nathan laughed—actually laughed.

"You have no idea. Sometimes when she touches me, I feel disgusting afterward."

The world tilted beneath me. I gripped the edge of our marble kitchen counter, my knuckles white.

"I need to shower after every time we're together," he continued, his voice dripping with contempt. "But I can't afford to lose the Lewis connection yet."

I couldn't breathe. Couldn't move. The phone slipped from my fingers, clattering onto the counter.

Nathan's voice called out, "Phoenix? Hello?"

I let it ring until it stopped.

---

Three days later, Nathan returned home to our Manhattan penthouse. I'd spent those days in a fog, moving through our apartment like a ghost. I'd considered confronting him immediately but decided to wait, to see if I could find proof of what I already knew in my heart.

"Hey, sweetheart." He kissed my cheek, his cologne—Tom Ford, my Christmas gift to him—filling my nostrils. How could he act so normal?

"How was your trip?" I asked, my voice surprisingly steady.

"Productive. Exhausting." He loosened his tie and headed for the bar cart. "Don't wait up. I need to finish some work."

After he disappeared into his study, I stood in our bedroom, staring at his suitcase. My hands trembled as I unzipped it. Nothing unusual—shirts, socks, his toiletry bag.

But his suit jacket was still in the closet.

I slipped my hand into the inner pocket and pulled out a handful of receipts. La Perla. Agent Provocateur. Designer lingerie stores I'd never visited.

Size extra small.

I wasn't extra small.

My fingers shook harder as I examined the other receipts. Dinners at Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernardin—places we'd never been together. A weekend reservation at the Four Seasons in the Hamptons. All from the past month.

The dates matched perfectly with his "business trips."

I sank onto our bed, the receipts scattered around me like fallen leaves.

---

"I need your help," I said, pushing through Madison's office door without knocking.

Madison Wilson—my best friend since college and one of New York's sharpest divorce attorneys—looked up from her desk.

"Phoenix? What happened?" She was on her feet immediately, guiding me to the leather couch by the window.

"Nathan's cheating on me." My voice cracked as I handed her the receipts. "And he thinks I'm... disgusting."

Madison's eyes narrowed as she examined them. "These are recent. And expensive."

"He's been going to Boston, supposedly for work. But there's a woman..."

Madison's expression hardened. "Let me make some calls. If he's using company resources for personal affairs, we can find out."

I nodded numbly as she picked up her phone.

"Marcus Chen still works with Nathan, right?" she asked, dialing. "Good. He owes me a favor."

As Madison spoke in hushed tones, I stared out at the Manhattan skyline. The city looked the same as it had this morning, but everything had changed.

Madison hung up and turned to me, her expression grim.

"It's worse than we thought, Phoenix. Nathan's not just cheating—he's been systematically transferring assets from your joint accounts. And he's using Lewis Group resources without authorization."

The room seemed to spin around me.

"How bad?" I whispered.

"Bad enough that we need to move quickly." Madison squeezed my hand. "But first, we need to know exactly who we're dealing with."

She pulled out her laptop and began typing furiously.

"The woman's name is Alexa Kennedy. His executive assistant."

Of course it was. The beautiful, young assistant I'd met at company functions. The one who always seemed to know exactly what Nathan needed before he asked for it.

"What do we do now?" I asked, a strange calm settling over me.

Madison's smile was cold and determined. "Now, Phoenix, we plan your revenge."
