When My Alpha Lost His Title for Betraying Me

The crystal chandeliers cast a warm glow over the grand ballroom of the Silver Moon Pack house. I smoothed my hands over the silver-threaded ceremonial Luna gown that had taken three seamstresses six weeks to create. Fifty years. Half a century of service, sacrifice, and love—all culminating in tonight's celebration. "Are the moon lilies arranged properly at each table?" I asked the young Delta wolf who was adjusting the centerpieces. "Alpha John specifically requested them." "Yes, Luna Sylvie," she replied with a respectful nod. "Everything is exactly as you planned." I nodded, though my stomach tightened with that strange unease that had been plaguing me for weeks. John had been... different. Distant.

When My Alpha Lost His Title for Betraying Me Chapter 1

The crystal chandeliers cast a warm glow over the grand ballroom of the Silver Moon Pack house. I smoothed my hands over the silver-threaded ceremonial Luna gown that had taken three seamstresses six weeks to create. Fifty years. Half a century of service, sacrifice, and love—all culminating in tonight's celebration.

"Are the moon lilies arranged properly at each table?" I asked the young Delta wolf who was adjusting the centerpieces. "Alpha John specifically requested them."

"Yes, Luna Sylvie," she replied with a respectful nod. "Everything is exactly as you planned."

I nodded, though my stomach tightened with that strange unease that had been plaguing me for weeks. John had been... different. Distant. Often disappearing into his study for hours, claiming Alpha business. The man who had once looked at me with adoration now barely met my eyes across the breakfast table.

"It's just pre-anniversary nerves," I whispered to myself, straightening my shoulders. "He's planning something special."

The ballroom was transformed into a vision of silver and blue—our pack colors—with delicate white moon lilies adorning every surface. Five hundred place settings gleamed under the light, each one representing a member of our pack or a visiting dignitary from allied territories. This was no small feat for a woman of seventy, but I had insisted on perfection.

"Luna Sylvie," came a deep voice behind me. I turned to see Marcus Rivera, Alpha of the Mountain Ridge Pack and head of the Pack Council tribunal. "Your attention to detail is impeccable, as always."

"Thank you, Alpha Marcus," I replied with the practiced smile of a Luna who had hosted countless diplomatic events. "I trust your journey was comfortable?"

As we exchanged pleasantries, I scanned the room for John. He stood across the ballroom, tall and commanding even at seventy, his silver-streaked dark hair catching the light. My heart swelled with pride despite my unease. This man had been my world for fifty years.

The orchestra began playing our mating song—the same melody that had filled the room when we completed our bond half a century ago. John took the microphone, his Alpha voice silencing the crowd instantly.

"Brothers and sisters of the Silver Moon Pack," he began, his voice carrying that familiar authoritative tone that had guided our pack through decades of prosperity. "Tonight we gather to celebrate fifty years of leadership and loyalty."

I stepped forward, ready to join him at the podium as we had done countless times before. But something in his eyes stopped me cold.

"However," he continued, his gaze sweeping the room but deliberately avoiding mine, "tonight is also about truth. About following the path the Moon Goddess has truly intended for us."

A murmur rippled through the crowd. My wolf stirred uneasily within me.

"It is with great conviction that I stand before you to announce..." John paused, his voice dropping to a reverent hush. "I have found my true mate."

The room spun around me. True mate? After fifty years?

"I, Alpha John Kelly," he continued, each word driving into me like a physical blow, "reject you, Sylvie Kelly, as my mate."

The formal rejection words hit me like ice water. The bond between us—that invisible thread that had connected us for half a century—began to tear. Pain unlike anything I'd ever experienced ripped through my chest.

"Our bond was never blessed by the Moon Goddess," John declared, as if explaining a simple business transaction. "My true mate has returned to me after all these years."

On cue, the grand doors opened. A woman with flowing dark hair and a face unlined by time glided in. Livia Flores. The name hit me like a physical blow.

"Luna Livia," John announced, extending his hand to her. "My true mate, returned to me at last."

The crowd erupted in gasps and whispers. Some faces showed shock, others pity—all directed at me as I stood frozen, the pain of the breaking bond bringing me to my knees.

"Mother," I heard Brody's voice as I struggled to breathe through the agony. I reached toward my son, expecting comfort, protection—anything.

But Brody stepped past me, moving to stand beside his father.

"Mother," he said, his voice cold with disappointment, "you must respect the Alpha's decision. Father has shown great courage in following his true mate bond."

The betrayal of my own son cut deeper than John's rejection. Through tear-blurred vision, I saw only condemnation in Brody's eyes—not for his father, but for me.

"You're being bitter," he continued, loud enough for nearby pack members to hear. "This takes courage, and I won't have you making Father's special night difficult."

A hand touched my shoulder—gentle but firm. I looked up to see Danielle, Brody's mate and the Future Luna, her eyes blazing with protective fury.

"Come, Luna Sylvie," she whispered, helping me to my feet. "You don't deserve to be treated this way."

As Danielle shielded me from the staring crowd, I felt something shift inside me—not just the breaking bond, but something deeper. For the first time in fifty years, I felt my wolf stir with something other than submission.

Something that felt dangerously like rage.

I stared at the financial records spread across my kitchen table, my fingers trembling as I traced the columns of numbers. Three years. Three years since I'd forgiven Oliver for his affair with that rogue she-wolf, Summer Wilson. Three years of rebuilding our mate bond, of raising our daughter Hope, of believing we'd moved past his betrayal. And now this. "Large withdrawals," I whispered, circling the figures with my pen. "Every month for... two years." The amounts were substantial—more than what we spent on pack supplies. More than what we allocated for Hope's education. The destination was always listed as "security expenses," but the pattern was too regular, too consistent.
