When My Alpha Chose Her Over Me

7.9 / 10.0
By the fifth year of our mating, my pilot husband had been with every flight attendant in the packs. After I was hospitalized to secure my pregnancy, he managed to insult the Beta of the Silver Crescent Pack at a promotion party due to his ongoing affair with Delilah Porter, a flight attendant from the rival Moonstone Pack. Desperate to save his position, Quinn Scott, Alpha of the Silver Crescent Pack, demanded that I drink coffee, urging me to beg for forgiveness on their behalf. I looked at him in disbelief. "I’m carrying your pup. How can I drink coffee? What if something goes wrong—" He interrupted, his voice cold with a hint of contempt, laced with the commanding tone of an Alpha. "It’s just coffee. Stop being melodramatic." He tightened his grip on my jaw, forcing the mug to my lips until it was empty. Soon after, a warm sensation spread through my body, staining my white Victorian-style dress red.

When My Alpha Chose Her Over Me Chapter 1

What if something goes wrong—"

He interrupted, his voice cold with a hint of contempt, laced with the commanding tone of an Alpha. "It’s just coffee. Stop being melodramatic."

He tightened his grip on my jaw, forcing the mug to my lips until it was empty.

Soon after, a warm sensation spread through my body, staining my white Victorian-style dress red. Delilah, tucked under his arm, turned her face away in disgust.

"Can’t even hold coffee in down there?" she mocked, her voice dripping with smug superiority.

That night, I was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, and we lost the pup. Meanwhile, news of Quinn and Delilah checking into a hotel that evening made the headlines.

What he didn’t realize was that I wasn’t merely an orphan. My father had been a warrior who died honorably in battle, his medals and legacy a testament to his sacrifice. I submitted my father’s medal of honor along with the mate rejection papers. "Quinn Scott’s infidelity is undeniable. Can I leave now?"

---

"Mavis, it’s Quinn who’s hurt you and the pup. Can you give him another chance?"

Under the sterile, white lights of the hospital room, Celeste, my mother-in-law and former Luna of the Silver Crescent Pack, cradled the tiny body of the lost pup, trembling as she covered it with a blanket.

I couldn’t bear it any longer. I yanked the IV from my hand and stood, blood droplets scattering on the floor. Struggling to the door, I saw Quinn holding Delilah at the nurse’s station, his hand gently resting on her waist, while a healer gave careful instructions.

"Ms. Porter is just two months along; she needs plenty of rest and regular medication," the healer advised.

Delilah glanced at me from the corner of her eye, flashing a smug smile, as if to say, "I’m not the only one who can give the Scotts a pup."

I turned to leave, but Quinn’s soft voice stopped me in my tracks. "The pup is small now, but it’s worth it. The Silver Crescent Pack will take good care of you."

Sharp pain gripped my chest, tears welling up despite my efforts to hold them back.

Throughout my pregnancy, it was the first time I’d heard Quinn refer to the pup as "pup." When I talked to him about our child, he was always impatient, never showing interest in the new life. Yet now, his voice was full of tenderness.

Delilah wiggled her fingers as if to demonstrate something, and Quinn leaned in to kiss her. Applause and cheers erupted around them, celebrating the impending new life.

Celeste wrapped me in an embrace, shielding me from the sight. "I’m sorry, Mavis. I insisted on bringing you into the pack. It’s my fault."

"Would you like to see the pup one last time? I’ll make sure they have a proper farewell..."

A surge of emotions overwhelmed me, drowning my reasoning. "That’s enough, Celeste!"

She suddenly broke into tears. "Alright, I won’t force you anymore. If you want to leave, then leave."

I pushed her away, my world blurred as my heart threatened to give out—a sign of the impending panic attack. Frantically, I pulled a pill from my pocket and swallowed it, regaining a bit of control. Yet my body continued to shake uncontrollably, forcing me to lean against the wall as I waited for the medication to take effect.

Even with my eyes closed, the nightmare replayed over and over in my mind. Celeste went over to separate the embracing couple. "How long are you going to continue this charade? Mavis is your mate!"

Quinn glanced my way with contempt, his lips curled into a mocking smile. "Did she run to you, crying, and making a fuss again? Always boasting about being a warrior’s orphan but never daring to reveal her parents’ names."

"Probably her family tree is crooked the whole way down. You’re the only one who buys into that baloney!"

Celeste shook with rage. "Those are classified details. They were pack heroes. Stop with this nonsense!"

Quinn let out a disdainful laugh and walked away with Delilah.

I slid down the wall, hugging my knees tightly, as my parents’ last words on the phone echoed in my mind.

"Carry our honor, and live on..."

I fled the hospital like escaping a nightmare, wandering aimlessly into the night.

Only one thought consumed my mind.

Mavis Scott, you need to leave.

Leave this abyss that will swallow you whole.

And never look back.
