Chapter 1

Erica:

"You? Show up as my Luna? No way, I don't want people identifying me as the Lycan King who got married and still has nothing to show."  Dante's words pierced my heart so hard that they made tears build up in the corner of my eyes immediately. I held the shirt I was folding tightly.

I fixed my eyes on Dante, my husband. He was seated on his work table in his room and he had a file in his hand.

Dante is a very tall man and his looks were to die for, he looks like those huge tall basketballers, only he was bigger and a slap from him would probably kill me.

I was the exact opposite of him, I was very tiny, and could barely stand for myself.

While I was a useless Luna who couldn't bear a child, Dante was a strong Lycan king, who wanted a child badly.

"Dante." I tried to speak but he shut me up immediately. He probably knew what I wanted to say, I wanted to tell him that his words had hurt me but he was tired of me saying that to him.

"If you are tired of me telling you this, put yourself to good use, put your womb to use, and give me an heir, I am not getting any younger and my pack needs an heir, Erica." I had wanted to say something to him but it would be useless, I had been married to him for four years and in these four years I had not given him a child. He had all the right to be mad at me but he was hurting me with his words and I could do nothing about it.

"When you're done folding my clothes, get out of my room." His words were very harsh and it broke me.  I placed his clothes in his closet and I walked out.

We were having a party in the pack house today and it was getting really busy as the maids were getting the ballroom ready for the party.

The first year of our marriage was not as rocky as this, I wasn't always verbally abused by him, he was just a normal husband and he made me happy, although I was an orphan and Lycan Kings never got married to omega or weak wolves I was surprised that when he found out I was his mate he accepted me.

I was surely not a Lycan because of so many reasons, I barely had a scent, I hadn't shifted at the age of 23, which was so weird, every normal werewolf or Lycan had their shift at age 18 and I was 23.

I couldn't hear from my wolf and the only reason I was identified as a wolf was because I had wolf blood. When you finally get a hint of my smell, you'd get the wolf smell, but I am not a Lycan nor am I human, I am not even an omega, it was safe to say that I was a defective wolf that was saved from drowning by the pack's lake.

Four years into my marriage with my mate, we have no child and I have suddenly turned into something he vents his anger on and someone he talks down on but I have hope that if I give him a child, he would treat me like normal and he would love me.

I was headed to the kitchen when I heard Laura call out my name. I kept walking as I didn't want to have anything to do with her, I was already having a bad day and if I spoke to her, she would ruin it.

"I am talking to you Erica, listen to me." I took a halt and finally turned to look at her face.

There she was, the tall beautiful cousin of my mate, 'Laura.'

Laura was everything a Lycan like Dante wanted in a mate, too bad she was his cousin but that didn't stop him from comparing me to his lousy cousin all the time.

"What is it this time?" I asked, glaring hard at her.

"I want my necklace now!" she ordered and I sighed, what nonsense was she up to again?

"What are you talking about?" I rolled my eyes and made to walk out of there but she pulled me back.

"I want my necklace back, don't make me call Dante." I pushed her off me.

"Why do you think I have it? I don't have it." Dante walked out of his room and met us yelling at each other.

"What is happening here?" he asked and immediately, Laura began to explain.

"The necklace, you had gotten for me, Erica has stolen it from me." hate and anger laced in her voice.

"Is this true?"

"No, Dante. I would never."

"She did Dante, she stole from me," Laura yelled back, almost crying.

"You know what, Robert, search Erica's room."  Dante gave others to the beta, who had also found himself in the hallway probably because of our screams. Robert's eyes enlarged in shock. I was puzzled, and my husband asked to search for me.

"Alpha but she's my Luna, I cannot search my Luna's room," Beta replied sharply with uncertainty in his eyes and Dante glared at him.

"I am your Alpha and I command you to search her room now." Dante raised his voice at the beta and the beta had no other choice, Dante was his King after all.

I should be used to this since this was what he did all the time, he took his cousin's side all the time.

After a while of searching my room, Beta walked out of the room with a piece of jewelry in his hand.

"Is this it, Miss Laura?" I was surprised to see it because I knew that I had not taken it.

"Yes, it is." She grabbed the necklace from Beta Robert, while I watched all of this unfold.

"She took my necklace, I always knew she wanted it and was upset that you got it for me and not her."  I was unbothered by whatever Laura was saying, all I wanted to know was what Dante thought about the situation.

"I didn't take it, Dante," I replied.

"If you didn't take it then how did it end up in your room?" Dante immediately took Laura's side and didn't even try to give me a chance or believe that his wife would never take what never belonged to her.

"I promise you Dante, I would never take what doesn't belong to me, I don't know how it got into my room." I kept trying to explain but it felt like my words were not enough.

"You're lying, Erica, it was found in your room, meaning you had taken it," he yelled aggressively and I found myself almost crying.

"Dante, do not tell me that you believe her," I raised my voice in anger, he better not take the side of his cousin, I am his wife.

"You know what Erica, you will not attend the party, that's your punishment for taking Laura's necklace and then lying." Dante's horas voice ordered and I looked at him and finally let the tears fall from my eyes.

"You cannot do that to me, I am your Luna, I am your wife Dante and for goodness sake, I did not take her stupid necklace," I yelled at the top of my voice, I tried so hard to defend myself.

"Watch me!" he turned and faced Beta Robert.

"Robert, take her to her room, and don't let her out until I say so. I do not want a thief running around my party." I could sense the hate in the way he stared at me and in the way he spoke, the beta stared at me perplexed. He didn't know what to do, I am his Luna, yet he has to lock me up, for something I didn't do.

"But Alpha."  Robert tried to insist but Dante gave him in hard glare

"Do not let me say it again"

***

I stayed in my room for as long as the party went on. I couldn't believe that Dante had stopped me from coming to his party because his cousin had accused me of stealing her jewelry.  I didn't want to overreact or cry so much in front of Laura but the moment I got into my room, I cried for a while, then pulled myself together.

It had become very dark and I was sure that no one was watching my room, everyone was busy with the party, and I was getting thirsty and I had no water in my room. I got down from my bed and took slow steps to the door.

Opening the door, I poked my head out, trying to scan the lobby, my eyes flashed through the end and the beginning of the hallway to check if anyone was coming. When I noticed that the hallway was empty, I walked out of my room.

Walking down the hallway, a pain stung my heart and I almost let out a scream but I sucked it back in and I let it out as muffles.

The pain stung and I fell to the ground and held my chest, it was the pain werewolves or Lycans got when their mate was sleeping with someone, Dante was having sex with someone that wasn't me and he didn't care that I could feel the pain.

I had begged him countless times to not hurt me in that way but he didn't stop. As I stayed in the hall dying of the pain that Dante was causing me, I heard muffles, cries, and moans coming from Dante's room. With the pain in my chest, I crawled to the door of his room. I had tried to stop myself from going to see him and his mistress having fun but I just wanted to confront him and maybe he would stop. I pushed his room door open without any regret but my jaw dropped in disgust and irritation.

"Dante," I called in disbelief. I tried to understand how and why he was having sex with his cousin. The person on the bed with my mate was his cousin.

On my daughter's fifth birthday, Yareli posted a photo on Instagram with the caption: "Before bed, my little one was crying for her dad, and the wonderful dad immediately dropped his work to be there." In the photo, the man next to her was none other than my husband—Sean Harrison. I glanced at the message received ten minutes ago: "There's something going on at the office tonight. You and Braelynn don't need to wait for me." I liked the post, then called my divorce attorney. --- Sean came home at two in the morning. The harsh light made me shield my daughter's eyes immediately. Sean leaned against the doorframe: "Miriam, I'm back. Let's wake Braelynn, and I'll celebrate her birthday with her." In the past, I cherished these family rituals deeply. Whether it was a birthday, Thanksgiving, anniversary, or a preschool event, I insisted Sean be involved. I didn't want Braelynn to go through what I did—only seeing her dad through videos on WhatsApp. But now— I straightened the blanket and replied in a flat tone: "No need." A flicker of frustration crossed Sean's face: "Miriam, I only went over to help Miguel sleep.

Instead, I walked into a limestone fortress to find the Kensington and Van Der Woodsen Engagement Party in full swing. Spencer wasn't there for a romantic dinner; he was standing under a crystal chandelier, announcing his "business merger" with a blonde heiress. When I confronted him in a service hallway, he didn't apologize. He offered to buy me a brownstone and keep me as his "side project" while his mother, Victoria, watched from the balcony like a queen. "The Kensingtons are panicked," he said, his eyes cold and calculating. "And panicked people make mistakes. You have a reason to watch them burn. I want to see what you know."
