Two Weddings on the Same Day
Chapter 4
I went back to Andy's place with my stuff. He excitedly asked what kind of wedding dress I wanted.
As I lay on the bed, I suddenly remembered a moment back when I was in love with Mark. I had asked him if he would marry me and whether I should get my wedding dress custom-made in advance. Mark promised to marry me after his company had stabilized. I had yet to receive his proposal even after three years, and Sharon had even returned.
"I'll go with whatever you like," I replied impatiently, rubbing my aching eyes.
I had been crying so much lately that my eyes were sore and dry, making it hard to bear.
"Okay, I'll take care of everything!" Andy said, gently patting my shoulder. He tucked me in and quietly left the room.
His careful movements made me sad. I felt like crying.
Everything about being with Andy indicated Mark did not love me.
The next day, I went shopping and saw Mark and Sharon at the supermarket picking out items for their home.
I felt sad, but I could not find the words to speak.
Just as I was about to leave, someone stopped me in a corner.
Mark's lips came close to my ear. "Claire, this is the key to the new house.
"I have business dealings with Sharon, but you're my only love."
He placed a set of keys into my hand, kissed my neck quickly, and left in a hurry.
I found his retreating figure laughable. I wondered what that even meant.
A week later, I wore my wedding dress and walked down the aisle with Andy.
Sitting in the Rolls-Royce, I stared at the bouquet in my hands, lost in thought.
I realized I was cherished by someone, too.
I would need to forget Mark from that day onward.
Andy held me close, afraid I might feel uncomfortable in any way.
I gently leaned against him, closed my eyes, and listened to his heartbeat. Suddenly, my restless heart calmed down.
I was not aware that Mark and I shared the same wedding day.
"Keep an eye on Claire today. She's been ignoring me for days because she's angry with Sharon. I'm afraid she might try to ruin the wedding," Mark told his friend, asking him to guard the door.
However, his friend looked at him with a complicated expression and replied, "But Claire and Andy are getting married today, too!"
Mark's bright smile froze on his face. He turned pale and looked around, not seeing me.
He asked in disbelief, "Say that again. Claire is getting married today?"
