This Time, I'm Winning the Lottery Chapter 1

When I got reborn into my youthful years, I turned down the marriage proposal of Seth Klein, the future major general. Instead, I chose to be with Nathan Prescott, who lived a poor life.

My mother thought I was possessed. After all, the entire village knew that I, the village chief's daughter, used to follow the well-educated Mr. Klein around all the time. Apparently, I was willing to do anything just to marry him.

I soon recalled what happened in my previous life. After I married Seth, we never consummated our marriage. He even brought back a child, claiming that said child belonged to a fellow soldier who had passed on in the war.

I viewed the child as my own and made an effort to raise him. It wasn't until our fiftieth anniversary that I discovered a secret after barging into Seth's study, which had always been forbidden to me.

It turned out that the study was plastered with photos of my older cousin, Catherine Parker—the most beautiful woman in the village. The thing was, she had been dead for a long time.

The truth was, Seth has always been capable of performing in bed. He was merely practicing abstinence because of Catherine.

Furious, I collapsed and was admitted to the hospital. But my son, whom I treated as my own, was the one who unplugged my life support with his own hands.

"If it weren't for you taking over my mom's position as the actual wife, she wouldn't have died as an unknown mistress!"

After my death, I witnessed Seth getting a joint burial with Catherine as husband and wife. As for my ashes, they were randomly scattered into a dried-up river.

Now that I was reborn, I chose to fulfill their wish!

On the third day after I changed my marriage prospect, I happened to meet Seth Klein on a slow wagon that was set toward the town.

As soon as Seth and some other well-educated people from city saw me, they began mocking me.

"Hey, Seth! Callista really is your lapdog! She's using your scent to track you down!"

"Callista, why are you still following Seth around so closely even though your wedding is already set in stone? Must you tag along with him even though he's traveling to town just to buy something?"

Upon seeing me, Seth's patience vanished.

"Callista, are you that eager to marry me? To think that you gave your family the green light to proceed with the wedding preparations without obtaining my permission! Now, the entire village knows that I'm about to marry an uncultured bumpkin! You really are something!"

My heart froze momentarily when I saw the look of disgust on Seth's face. A moment later, I retorted, "I never needed your permission anyway. You're not the one I'm marrying, after all."

As soon as my voice fell, they began guffawing loudly on the wagon. A few of them, who were quite close to Seth, were laughing so hard that they were starting to tear up.

"Hey, Seth! You should coax your future wife! Otherwise, she'll use other methods just to attract your attention!"

Meanwhile, Seth's frown deepened.

"So, you even learned how to play hard to get, huh? Since your family's hosting your wedding in the village, who else can you marry but me?

"Not to mention, you've been following me everywhere ever since I first came to the village! The entire village knows that you're bent on marrying me!"

Then, Seth lowered his voice. "Stop pulling all these stunts, and I might consider sparing your pride by showing up at that wedding of yours. I don't want you to think about anything else."

Cold sweat rolled down my back the moment I heard his words. Could it be that he was reborn as well?

In my previous life, I only got to go through a wedding ceremony with Seth without obtaining our marriage license for a very long time.

Before I could dwell on my thoughts, my older cousin, Catherine Parker, appeared next to the wagon. Tears began rolling down her cheeks when she saw Seth sitting close to me.

"Seth, I know that you're about to marry Callista. I'm here to wish you a lifetime of happiness…"

After that, she ran away while crying.

Seth glared at me angrily before jumping off the wagon in pursuit of Catherine. Their receding silhouettes reminded me of what had happened in my previous life.

After Seth and I held our wedding in the village, he joined the military army with the recommendation letter left by my father's old comrade. With said comrade's help, he was able to rise through the ranks.

Seth and I never consummated our marriage. Even our child was an orphan belonging to Seth's dead comrade, whom we ended up adopting.

I thought Seth had fertility-related issues, so I devoted my blood, sweat, and tears to raising the child. Only when I accidentally entered Seth's study did I find out that he had loved Catherine all this time.

His virility was perfectly fine—he was just saving himself for Catherine!

After I collapsed out of fury, my son took it upon himself to unplug my life support.

"If it wasn't for you taking over my mom's position, she wouldn't have died as an unknown mistress!"

It turned out that I had been raising Seth and Catherine's child over the past few decades!

After Seth died, he was buried with Catherine as husband and wife. My ashes, on the other hand, were scattered into a random dried-up river.

Since Seth and Catherine shared such a close-knit relationship, why must they involve me in their romance and cost me my entire life?

Now that I was reborn, I wanted to witness their destruction with my own eyes!
