Chapter 2
Slap!
Her mother slapped her hard across the face.
She looked at her mother in disbelief.
"Why?"
"You clumsy little wretch! How dare you ruin the young lady's dress," her mother scolded.
"Even if we sold you, we couldn't afford to pay for it. Get down on your knees right now and beg the young lady for forgiveness."
Her mother pressed her down, trying to force her to kneel and apologize to the young lady.
"Have you had enough? Do you want to completely ruin Selina's welcome banquet?"
Goden shouted angrily.
Only then did Selina wave her hand at Aunt Sarah impatiently.
Upon receiving the signal, Aunt Sarah didn't dare to disobey.
She grabbed Aya by the ear and dragged her out.
As they walked, she cursed, "You little wretch, move faster! If you disturb the honored guests, I'll beat you to death."
At this moment, Aya's head was buzzing, and she could hardly hear what her mother was saying.
She turned her head and took a look back into the crowd.
Just then, her eyes met Goden's deep eyes. There seemed to be a hint of pity in them.
But before she could take a closer look, he turned his head away.
Her heart felt as if it had been struck hard, and the pain was intense. She simply gave up resisting and let her mother drag her around like an animal.
When they reached the utility room, her mother pushed her to the ground roughly.
"I told you long ago to stay away from Goden. A person as noble as him is not someone a lowly creature like you can aspire to."
"Now that the young lady has returned to the country, you're in for a tough time."
Her mother gave her a contemptuous look, as if she were some kind of filthy trash.
"Why are you treating me like this? I'm your daughter, for heaven's sake! Why are you taking Selina's side?"
Aya demanded angrily.
"You'll always be nothing but a lowly servant. Don't even think about competing with the young lady for anything."
Seemingly dissatisfied with Aya's attitude, Aunt Sarah forcefully grabbed her hair, trying to make her daughter obey.
The pain was unbearable, yet Aya persisted,
"Goden said he would only love me in this life and that he would marry me."
Upon hearing this, Aunt Sarah was so enraged that her eyes seemed about to pop out.
In a fit of fury, she picked up a broom nearby and lashed out at Aya mercilessly.
"I'll beat you to death, you little wretch! Say, are you wrong? Do you submit? Say that you'll never see Goden again."
There were already faint bloodstains on Aya's back.
But her mother's brutal beating showed no sign of stopping.
With a loud crack, the broom broke.
Yet Aya remained silent.
"Fine. If you don't admit your mistake, you won't get any dinner tonight. Stay here and reflect on your actions properly. You'll be let out when you see things clearly."
The door was slammed shut heavily.
And it was deliberately locked.
Aya's heart was filled with overwhelming grief, as if being torn apart by a thousand knives.
Looking out of the window at the moon outside, she remembered the harsh words her mother had just said.
Was she really unworthy?
At this moment, Aya's back ached terribly, and her head was dizzy.
In a daze, she thought back to every moment she had spent with Goden.
It turned out that she and Goden had met in a car accident.
That day, Aya was riding her electric scooter, hurrying to her part - time job at a milk tea shop.
Since she was about to be late, she had to speed up.
When making a turn, due to the high speed, she collided with a luxury car.
Aya was knocked to the ground.
"Ah! It hurts so much."
Suddenly, her hand touched a metal object on the ground.
She picked it up and saw that it was the Rolls - Royce hood ornament, the Spirit of Ecstasy.
Her eyes instantly widened as big as copper bells.
"Good heavens! Such an expensive car. Even if they sold me, I couldn't afford to pay for the damages."
At that moment, she wished she could find a hole to crawl into.
"Miss, are you okay?"
His voice was as melodious as a silver bell, extremely pleasant to hear. "I'm fine," she replied, feeling a bit guilty and not daring to look at the owner of the luxury car.
But at this moment, blood trickled down from under her helmet, dyeing half of her face red.
"Miss, you're bleeding. Let me take you to the hospital," the man said, sounding a bit anxious.
However, she was really terrified that the owner of the luxury car would ask her to pay for the damages.
She propped herself up on one foot and stood up.
"No need. I'm perfectly fine."
Suddenly, everything spun around her.
Unable to control herself, she fell backward and fainted.
