The Ruthless Female Alpha Regin Novel Cover

The Ruthless Female Alpha Regin

Lucia Mclean did not rise to become the first female Alpha in three decades by believing in fate. She rules the oldest and most feared territory in Varron with blood, fear, and an iron will that has never once wavered. To her pack, she is a goddess. To her enemies, a monster. And to herself, she is untouchable. Until her fated mate turns out to be the one man who could destroy everything she's built. Jacob Hayes is a quiet cook from the Northern Pack-human-hearted, soft-spoken, and completely unprepared to be bound to the most ruthless Alpha in the four territories. Their bond is forbidden, dangerous, and politically explosive. Loving him could cost Lucia her throne. Rejecting him could spark a war. As rebellion stirs and the obsessive Northern Alpha sets his sights on claiming both Lucia's land and her mate, Lucia must choose between the power that made her untouchable and the bond that makes her human. In a world ruled by fear, even fate can become a weapon-and a broken bond can be deadlier than any blade.

Chapter 3

Lucia's POV

I had never been one to sleep with all my senses down. You learn the hard way when you live in my world.

The screams were the first thing that got me out of bed. Looking around for him and hoping he was safe, I saw him lying face down, buried in his blood. I knew he hated me, but I didn't hate him.

The loud explosion brought me back to reality. Pulling my robe on, I rushed out only to see my people being killed and raped.

An ambush. Who dares to enter my territory and do this?

With a blade in my hands, I rushed over to the young lady who was bent over by some brute. I drove my blade straight into his heart.

We fought for hours until sunrise, when we finally managed to vanquish the enemy.

I had accumulated enemies-plenty of them-from the moment I was born. People were always gunning for my head or after what they could take from me.

Over the years, I had learned to rule with an iron fist and an iced heart-one that nothing could hurt or kill so easily.

Standing in front of the leader of the ambush, I recognized the face and the symbol. This attack was from an old acquaintance from the north.

And this was only a sign.

I had never been one to fear anyone or anything-but I feared him. He had always been a hard rock in my path, with his obsessive love for me.

I felt my heart rate increase so much that I grew dizzy. The thoughts ran through my mind-the what ifs.

Where are you, my darling?

Jacob's POV

I kept running, going as fast as my legs would let me. The farther I got away from her, the better my chances of survival.

Walking for what felt like an eternity, exhausted and hungry, I knew I needed to find shelter before sunset.

I sat under a tree, hoping to catch my breath and maybe get a little sleep.

The first sound was a twig snapping. The next was my head slamming against the tree.

"How desperate are you to get your wolf back? And what will you do to get it?"

That was the first voice I heard when my eyes opened. I tried to understand my surroundings, wondering why everything was almost pitch black.

"I don't like being kept waiting."

My attention immediately shifted toward the direction of the voice.

"I would do anything, sir."

"Anything, you say? Does that include conspiring against your own mate?"

At the mention of mate, my heart raced and my nerves tightened.

"Yes, sir. Like I said, anything-as long as I can get my wolf back."

"Very well, then. My special healers will come to you later and take a look at your soul to see how badly it is damaged.

"Until then, go and wash up and eat."

I was led into a large, beautiful room, with servants at my beck and call. I could really get used to this life, I thought.

That night, I stood by the window, my mind filled with thoughts of her and how she was doing.

As much as I told myself I hated her, I couldn't stop my heart from wanting her.

A light knock came at the door. Before I could reach it, they were already inside-palms out, eyes not visible.

Lucia's POV

I had searched for over two days and found nothing. It was like he had disappeared from the surface of the earth.

I couldn't eat, sleep, or think properly. I was worried and scared that someone might have taken him-or worse, hurt him.

Patrol guards were scattered everywhere and ordered not to return until he was found. But I knew they wouldn't find him. Something in my gut told me he had been taken, and my instincts never lie.

"Guards! Send word to the south. I need an audience with one of their Alphas."

I will find you, my dear.

Jacob's POV

"Your wolf was deeply asleep due to the shock from the incident. Since it is weak by nature, it couldn't survive such trauma."

So that meant I was weak by nature-so fragile that even a little trauma could either kill me or send my wolf into a coma.

An empty laugh, filled with pain and disgrace, escaped my lips. What an unfortunate being I was.

"Sir. My lord seeks an audience."

I stood in that same dark room, and then came that voice.

"I hope you can tell I am a man of my word. Your wolf will be restored. But before that-how well do you keep your word?"

"Whatever it is you want from me, I will deliver."

"Very well, then. How deep can you drive a knife into someone's heart?

For two years, I played the role of the "Midwestern mistake," the mousey wife Julian Ford-Sterling IV kept hidden like a shameful secret. The day our marriage contract ended, the headlines were already screaming about his affair with Hollywood’s sweetheart, Lana Vane. Julian didn't even grant me a final conversation; he simply sent his legal team to hand me divorce papers that gave me nothing—no alimony, no shares, just a non-disclosure agreement and a one-way ticket out of his life. I signed the papers and walked away, but a drugged encounter in a dark club that same night led me back into his arms. We collided in the shadows, two strangers stripped of their titles, but I fled before dawn, accidentally leaving behind my vintage silver locket. By the time I reached my secret design studio the next morning, I discovered Julian had executed a hostile takeover of my entire life’s work. To my horror, Lana Vane was already there, clutching my stolen locket and shamelessly claiming she was the woman Julian had spent the night with. Julian stood before me in his charcoal suit, looking at me with total lack of recognition. To him, I was just a "gold-digging" architect he had bought along with the furniture. I watched them together, the man who had discarded me and the woman who had stolen my identity, realizing that Julian was obsessed with the genius of "Rose" while despising the woman who stood right in front of him. He had no idea that the wife he’d just divorced was the very person he was now desperate to control. I straightened my spine, my violet-blue eyes cold and lethal behind my new designer frames. "Mr. Ford-Sterling, you wanted the best designer in the city? You’ve got her. But you should know—I don't just build empires. I know exactly how to tear them down."

At 3:12 AM, a call from the NYPD shattered the silence of my dorm. My childhood sweetheart and the city’s golden heir, Liam Sterling, was in custody and needed me to bail him out. I rushed to the precinct, trembling as I swiped my father’s emergency credit card for five thousand dollars, only to watch Liam walk out and head straight for another woman. He had landed in a cell because he’d started a brawl to protect Jade—a girl with pink hair and a jagged attitude—while I was just the "best friend" he called to clean up his mess. In the backseat of the cab I paid for, I watched the man I loved pull her into his lap, treating me like an invisible chauffeur. When I finally demanded the truth, he didn't apologize; he reminded me that our families were tied by a multi-million dollar merger and that I was "like a sister" to him. My own mother echoed his coldness, telling me to stop being dramatic because our family was secretly bankrupt and we needed the Sterling money to survive. I spent years being his "good girl," even recording a fake video for the press claiming he was a hero who fought to defend my honor. But the illusion shattered when I saw the photos of him with Jade on my birthday—the same night he told me he was working late to secure our future. "I love you, Zoe. Like I love my dog. You’re loyal, but you’re boring." I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was his shield. He used the trauma of the day he "saved" my life to keep me in his debt, never realizing that the chains of gratitude had finally snapped. As the Sterling empire began to crumble under a sudden leak of scandals, I didn't run back to Liam. Instead, I looked at the encrypted message from his dangerous, outcast brother, Julian, who had been waiting in the shadows. He didn't just offer me a way out; he offered to buy my family's debt and claim me as the collateral.
