Chapter 54

Millicent's POV

I got to the mansion and climbed the stairs to my room. Now that I was not in Christopher's embrace, I was feeling very fatigued. I recalled the discussion we had earlier about my parents death and I felt the rage rise in me again. I was sorry that my mates' parents had to be murdered brutally like Christopher had described but I was angry at the same time that my parents had been made the scape goat because I knew my father was not a traitor or a betrayer of trust.

Something was nagging at the back of my mind but was proving elusive. I recalled that Christopher had spoken of sending his men to investigate the case. Now that he and I were getting close, maybe I should ask him to find out about my pack and what has become of it. Alpha Sylvester had not been interested in making it his but had left it in a state of ruin. Was it still in ruins or has others inhabited it?

Unbidden, the scene replayed before me. The death scene that has refused to leave my mind. Then when I got to the part where I was holding my dying father and he was calling for his wife, it suddenly came to me. 'I did not do it', he had told me.

I stood frozen. That was what Dad had been trying to tell me, that he was innocent of the crime he was accused of and for which he was brutally murdered.

'Dad, I never doubted you. I knew you could never do that. You were made to die a senseless death. You died for what you knew nothing about and so did my beloved mum and brother. I do not even know where you were buried. I will surely teach Sylvester a lesson. He will pay for what he did to you all!' I vowed.

I was still soliloquizing when the door to my room was kicked open.

'What are you doing, Millicent?' Alpha Sylvester said as soon as he barged into my room, fury in every fibre of his body. ' I kissed you today and you could not bear my touch but on several occasions now, I have caught you almost at the point of mating with my brother! Is that how cheap you are?' he asked trembling in rage.

'Cheap?' I asked, getting angry. 'Christopher is my mate as well and if I feel drawn to him, it is no fault of mine, you should blame it on the moon goddess who mated me to him and gave us such a strong mate bond!'

'I am your mate as well and my feelings for you is not different from what you feel Christopher's is!' he bellowed. If I hadn't known, I would have thought I heard anguish in his voice. 'The both of you are cutting me off as though I am not a part of this bond and I can no longer endure this anymore'.

'How do you suppose we do it, a threesome?' I asked, still angry with his overbearing attitude.

He paused, looking at me. 'If you do not leave Christopher and come to me, if you insist and keep getting close to him, then I'll do something that will hurt the three of us!'

The way he said it caused an unreasonable fear in my heart that I tried to brush aside. 'What could you possibly do that will hurt all three of us at the same time?'

'I will murder Christopher!' he said, looking at me unflinching and I gasped, looking at him in disbelief. He must have seen the incredulity in my eyes for he added, 'You know first hand what I am capable of, so you know that I can do it and you shall be responsible. So don't dare me!'

'You will murder your own brother who cannot bear to have any harm befall you?' I asked unbelievingly, recalling how Christopher had come to his defense, accusing me of getting close to his brother because I had plans to hurt him and virtually warning me against it.

'If that were true, then he would keep away from you!' he said furiously.

'You act as though you really care. We both know you do not care a hoot about me and just wants me to retain your title', I blurted, tired of all the pretense. 'The person you care for is waiting for the time you will make her your one and true Luna!'

Sylvester's eyes went round, his mouth hung open as he stared at me. 'You know?'

'Of course I know! I have known for a very long time!' I said, frowning annoyingly at him.

'Who told you?' he asked in a deceptively cool voice. 'Was it Cathania?' This male was really incredible!

'What does it matter who told me?' I asked.

'I want to know who told you this!' he thundered.

If he thought that shouting was going to scar me, he had to have a rethink.

'Stop shouting and disturbing the peace of the pack!' I said angry at his authoritative behaviour. 'Nobody else but you told me!'

'I told you?' he scoffed, pointing at his chest in disbelief.

'I had come to confirm something from you and mistakenly went the wrong way and found myself in your previous garden', I started looking him straight in the face and daring him to deny it. 'where you were telling this to Cathania to calm her impatience!'

'Oh', he said as realisation dawned on him. 'So, you were actually the one there that day. I have often wondered why I smelled you there. How did you learn to be that fast?' he asked.

'Is that really what we are talking about now? How fast I am? There are alot of qualities I have that you do not know about!' I said.

'I can imagine!' he said, looking at me in a very funny manner, a devilish twinkle in his eyes. 'That is why you keep throwing yourself at Christopher!'

'What...' I started but he had already pulled me to himself and crushed his mouth on mine in a brutal kiss, biting and pulling at my lips. His hands moving round my body roughly. I was still unmoving because it had all been so fast, taking me unawares. I had not known he intended such a thing. His hands went under my shirt, fumbling with my breast, the pain from the way he was rolling and twisting my nipple, brought to my dazed awareness what was happening.

I raised my hand to give him a resounding slap but he was fast and caught my hand in a voice - like grip. 'Don't you dare!' he hissed. He was looking like an animal - a dangerous animal - let out of the cage.

He pushed me roughly down on the bed, pulling my shirt of me and I was exposed before his roving eyes. 'Oh, my God!' he breathed. 'You are beautiful!'

I wriggled, trying to get away from him but his hands still held mine captive and his body pinned my down. His height making it impossible me to make good use of my legs. A kick to his groin would have solved this problem but I was rendered immobile.

His mouth descended on my breasts caused me to feel electric sparks. Desire shot through me. He bit my nipple, his teeth grazing each and he sucked and I bit back a moan, it was intense.

'You want me too, don't you?' he asked, his voice rough and husky, his bulge pressing on me.

I do not know where I got the strength but I pushed him away and jumped to my feet, panting from the exertion.

'No! I do not want you!' I said in a loud voice, my trembling hands covering my chest, to hide my breasts from his view. Thank goodness my voice came out firm and confident. I was trembling inside and wondering why I had felt a rush of desire for him when he touched me against my will.

'You can deny it all you want but I know what I know and I can smell it - your desire for me - on you'.

'You are being delusional!' I said still panting.

'Ha,ha,ha...' he laughed harshly but it sounded like a bark. 'Don't lie to yourself. We are mates afterall, how can you not want me?' he asked confidently and then said harshly, 'What does Christopher have that I don't anyway? We are identical twins, and apart from his hair being darker than mine, and his eyes a lighter grey, every other thing is the same, including our shafts. Why would you want him over me?'

I could give him a million reasons but it still would make no difference, so I kept quiet. I did not know where to start.
