Chapter 37

Alpha Sylvester's POV

I had gone to wish Millicent a good morning but after knocking and it seemed like she was never going to invite me in, I had gone in anyway, but she was not in her room nor the rest room.

Where has Millicent gone?

For a moment I considered that she had run away without anyone knowing. God knows she had ample reasons to do that, especially seeing me with Cathania in Christopher's room.

That reminds me, I thought. I had planned on running with Christopher this morning

'Daniel, look round the grounds for Millicent', I said, ' when you find her, tell her that I would like to see her when I get back from my runs'.

'Right away, my Alpha', he said and moved away.

I went into Christopher's room to call him but his Beta told me Christopher had gone for his run. I was going to go for mine, believing that I would catch up with Christopher when Cathania accosted me.

'Good morning, my Alpha', she greeted.

'Good morning, Cathania', I replied. 'What are you doing here? I thought I asked you to return to your parents till everything settles?'

'But how can I, Sylvester?' she asked, looking forlorn. 'You know I love you and I am missing you terribly'.

She came close to me, placed her hands about my neck, tilted her head to the side in readiness to capture my lips in hers. I grew irritated and pushed her away. 'Stop that!' I said fiercely. 'We could be seen!' I could not believe that I didn't want Cathania. In the past, she only had to touch me and I would have shifted my run to another time and carried her into my room to ravish her but surprisingly, I had no such inclination.

'When has the mighty Sylvester become so fearful of people and what they thought about his actions?' she asked, anger darkening her features. 'You pushed me away because of that maid, didn't you? No female can love you better than I', she said.

'Cathania, just go and stop being a fishwife', I said getting ready to brush her aside and be ony way.

'The girl for which you are sacrificing our love, does she really love you?' she asked.

I could not be sure that Millicent had grown to love me especially with all the implications and complexities of our relationship but I was sure she would come around. I started going out without giving her an answer.

'Of course!' Cathania continued. 'You know she does not live you but just in case you are deluding yourself that she does, forget it!

'Cathania, why are you like this?' You are now so bitter, I can barely recognize you!' I said, not able to hidey disgust. 'What has the poor girl done to you now ?'

'Listen to yourself! What has the poor girl done to me?' she said, her tone rising. I pushed pass her as I made to start my run.

'But that poor girl is not really that poor because she has made you start eating out of her finger and caused rifts between you and your brother. So if you are thinking of winning her heart, I must advise you to save yourself the effort for she is not worth it and she can never love you', Cathania spat out forcefully.

'You seem so sure!' I said getting furious with her. 'I could almost believe you are the owner of her heart to know it this well'.

'If she really loves you, why would she be with another?' she said and I stopped in my stride.

'Oh, that got you didn't it?' she mocked, laughing hysterically.

'You better watch your tongue', I said. 'You are speaking to the future Luna of this pack!'

'Of course! I beg your pardon, Alpha, for speaking this way about your Luna, but dear Alpha, your loving Luna is at this moment rolling in the hay with another and I have evidence!' she said looking me fiercely in the eye.

My heart started thumping. I was going to kill Cathania if this was one of her sick jokes. How dare she malign Millicent's character this way. But if it was the truth, I'd give the male who dates touch my Luna a slow death that would make him beg for death.

'Who dares touch my mate?' I asked thunderously, turning towards Cathania.

'I cannot tell you that', she said and I raised my hands to strike her but she hastened to continue. 'but I can show you. This way, please'.

I followed her, bothy heart and footsteps thumping like an elephant.

'I was running when I saw them go into this place, at first, I did not think it was our prim and proper Luna but when I heard her voice, begging her partner to take her already, I needed no other confirmation'.

'You talk too much!' I said. 'Show me!'

Then she entered into a familiar place. It had been long since I went in there. It belonged to someone I knew, someone... Oh my God! It couldn't be..

I rushed forward and barged into the room.

I could not believe my eyes as I burst into the room and beheld the scene before me. Christopher was straddling a very willing Millicent, he was unzipping her shorts, and her chest were bare. I quickly took in the scene and before I could think, I gave Christopher a mighty punch on his cheek. I felt a moment's satisfaction as the punch caught him on the jaw and I saw his head become woozy but like always, Christopher was fast in recovering and with his fast reflexes, he leaped out of bed, covering Millicent at the same time and before I could see it coming, had returned the punch to my jaw as well and I spat out blood.

Both of us faced each other growling, ready to do battle.

'How dare you touch my mate?' I asked, baring my teeth at him.

'She is my mate!'

'We agreed there would be no mating till the matter is resolved', I shouted.

'I never agreed to any such thing. And what's all this sudden love? You had your chance with her but lost it. Now it is my time with her and I intend to keep her for ever!' Christopher said and his words antagonized me further. I have never felt like killing anyone, the way I felt towards him in that instant.

Our claws were raised and our beasts were veering to be released. I was only too happy to oblige Ezra and Christopher did not want to be undone. I clawed at him and he clawed back. The place was becoming crowded. Our raised voices had alerted others.

'Lets go to an open space!' I suggested furiously.

'Yes, let's. We have to settle this once for all!', Christopher. Before we could step out however, Millicent came between us, 'Stop this for goodness sake!'
