Chapter 2

In my previous life, Jill had just been found and reconciled with the Shaw family. When she found out that our grandmother needed surgery, she offered to take my place to operate on her.

I secretly conducted a background check on Jill and discovered that she had attended a vocational nursing school for only three years. She had almost failed to graduate for skipping classes and getting into fights.

To protect the Shaw family's reputation, I refused her offer without any hesitation.

However, Jill thought that I was eyeing the Shaw family's wealth and did not want her to gain credit for the surgery.

After a huge fight, she followed our grandmother to the hospital. I thought they would listen to the doctor's advice, so I did not tell my adoptive father, Robert, about this.

The next day, when I arrived at the hospital right on time, Robert slapped me on the face angrily right by the entrance of the surgery theater.

"You filthy brat! Your grandmother is dead. Are you happy now?"

Before I could process what was going on, Jill threw herself into Robert's arms, sobbing. "Dad, I never thought that Janice would be so afraid of me taking her spot as the attending physician that she'd break hospital rules and operate on Grandma in the middle of the night! She didn't even tell us after the surgery had failed! You didn't even get to see Grandma one last time."

I could not believe that our grandmother had just passed away just like that.

She had never liked me since I was young, just because I was a girl. She did not like my presence, so she often punished me by making me stand on the staircase.

Later, when Jill was found and reconciled with the family, our grandmother loathed me even more.

If she had not had a tough life and single-handedly brought Robert up, not to mention how technically challenging the surgery was, I would not have accepted to operate on her.

I just did not expect her to pass away, even before I got to treat her. I had been asleep the entire night before, so I could not have operated on her.

However, before I could explain, Molly accused me, saying, "Janice, who would've thought that just because Grandma is usually stricter with you, you'd kill her just like that! You're a monster! You ungrateful brat!"

Robert's eyes widened with fury when he heard what Molly said. He immediately put me in a chokehold, tightening his hands around my neck. I was on the brink of suffocation when he shoved me down from the 36th floor.

Only after my death did I find out that Jill was afraid that I would successfully treat our grandmother, so she persuaded her and Molly to proceed with the surgery earlier than planned.

Once the surgery had problems, Jill blamed it all on me.

Robert could not accept the death of his mother, and he aimed all his hatred toward me. After he killed me, the police arrived.

Robert was arrested and sentenced to death, while the Shaw family's wealth fell into Jill and Molly's arms.

The reason Jill was so eager to operate on our grandmother was that she was not the Shaw family's biological daughter at all!

She was worried that the truth would come to light, so she set this all up to get rid of everyone.

Everyone in the Shaw family was a monster! I would make all of them pay in this life!
