Chapter 4

He indicates the location of the chair and says, "There's a chair here." After spending some time gazing at it, I sat down on the edge and turned around to face the entrance, where my parents were waiting.

They both gave me nods.

When I eventually turn around to face the Alpha again, he is looking at me with a menacing expression.

"Your name is Katrina?"

"Yes, Alpha"

"You can call me Antony," he says quickly, and I nod.

"How old are you?"

"Just finished my 17th birthday. "

He checks at some documents that I can see are my parents' and my birth certificate, indicating that I am 17 years old. He leans out to pick it up for a closer look.

"You haven't wrapped up school yet, have you? "

And I nod my head.

"It is very surprising that you changed schools at such a young age; often, students don't switch schools because they are concerned about how doing so would impact their academic performance. Then you will have completed your study through our wolf pack."

My lips close in a tight seal.

"Your parents had already divulged your cause for leaving, that you had an incident with the Alpha's daughter, and your mother beat her?" His mouth forms the inquiry. Because I didn't want to be caught in a lie, I let my mother take the blame for it, even if what she was saying was technically true and wasn't why we left.

"You got it, man,"

"That's OK with me, Alpha Nkosi, that jerk, has to be thrown down,"

He is showing contempt for my previous Alpha without trying to hide it. I like his frankness though.

"Come here," he says, standing up.

I jump out of my seat, taking a step back. His eyes snapped to mine at my sudden movement.

I shudder.

"I assure you, Katrina, that I will never hurt you."

To place my faith in him would be a huge risk.

He pricked my finger with the needle, and blood began to trickle down the glass on surface of the table.

My hand retreated since it was experiencing a painful feeling.

When he finally let go of my hand, he apologized and said, "Sorry, that stings a little bit." His explanation was followed by a charming grin that danced over his lips. I glanced up, and sure enough, he was watching me once again. His height exceeded mine by a considerable margin; I could only reach his center with my shoulders.

He offers me his wrist, and I do nothing except look at it in silence as he chews on it. I glance down at the table and see two bleeding cups, I know exactly what he wants from me: for me to drink our blood. Why did I turn into a vampire overnight? I am a werewolf, not a vampire, despite the fact that I have not yet undergone the shift.

He put his arm around me and his wrist to my mouth, saying, "Go ahead, now."

I came to the realization that I really like the flavor of his drool despite the fact that what I was about to do was quite horrifying. It was a delectable experience for me. Surprisingly, the flavor of his blood did not leave behind an awful aftertaste in my mouth. The sweetness was quite appetizing.

He releases his grip on my wrist but keeps his arm around my waist, which continues to draw me in. He bent down so that our faces were near to one another and so that his voice was close to my own. In this position, our voices were more audible to one another.

As I feel the warmth of his strong chest on my back, he adds quietly, "You now need to pledge to me."

I nod.

"In the name of the great Alpha Antony, I, Katrina, pledge everlasting loyalty and the fulfillment of all of your wishes. "

When I turned back to face him again, I gave him a cursory glance. Because his nose is so close to mine, I get a momentary shock from the intensity of his scent. His nose is just a few inches from mine.

When I turned my back on him, I thought I caught a whiff of a grin on his face as he looked at me. If he hadn't been able to tighten his grasp on me, I most certainly would have fallen to the ground. The incessant chatter of my previous Pack, which I was able to hear via Mind-link, caused my ears to ring, which in turn prompted me to scream.

It ended with a snap, much like a rubber band.

When I hear Alpha Antony exclaim, "It's done now," I immediately glance up expecting to see him. As my consciousness begins to wane, I stupidly reciprocate his smile and glance at him.

"Is it safe for me to release you? "

I feel his arms around me as he asks, and I look down to see that they are just below my breasts. At once, I am acutely aware of his hands on my body, and my cheeks reddens in embarrassment. Oh, my! I had developed feelings for my new Alpha.
