The Alpha’s Puppet and the Luna Who Defied Fate

When I was on the brink of death after failing my training, Alpha Augustine Thompson revealed that my wolf had been severely damaged, and it would take three cycles of recovery before I could fulfill my destiny. Each cycle would be filled with hardship and challenges. In my first life, I fell for Isaac Garcia the moment I caught his scent. He loved me fiercely, vowing to protect me for eternity. But in the end, I died for him, pierced by countless claws on the battlefield. In my second life, I found him again and worked tirelessly to avoid the tragedy of the past, believing we could grow old together. Yet, I was tortured to death by rogues while trying to save him. Now, in my third life, on the eve of our mark ceremony, I sent Halle Crawford into his room. Because the night before, I overheard his conversation with Vincenzo Mitchell, his Beta. "Alpha," Vincenzo said, "you only agreed to mark Aria to provoke Halle.

Chapter 2

Returning to my room, I saw the wedding dress hanging on the rack again, but this time, it didn’t bring me joy—only pain. The vibrant red, once a symbol of hope, now felt like it was stained with the blood of my past.

In every life, I had been the loyal daughter of a respected Delta, destined to suffer. At six, I lost my father. The Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack granted me the title of Luna’s ward, a hollow comfort. At ten, my mother, the pack’s healer, was taken from me. At sixteen, I met Isaac Garcia, the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, and felt the mate bond for the first time. At eighteen, I became his Luna, believing I was fulfilling my destiny.

In the first life, I poured everything into helping him secure his position as Alpha, only to die on the battlefield, sacrificing myself to protect his reputation. In the second life, I avoided that fate but was captured by rogues while accompanying him to a neighboring pack. They tortured me, and I died in agony.

This time, I was determined to break the cycle. From a young age, I begged Augustine, my mentor, to train me in combat. My hands bled from the relentless training, but I didn’t stop. When I met Isaac, I fought by his side, earning him victories and accolades, elevating him to Alpha faster than in my previous lives. But last night, everything shattered. All my efforts felt like a cruel joke.

I finally understood why Augustine always said the trials of love were the hardest to endure. If this was my fate, so be it. I wouldn’t fight it anymore.

The next morning, I went through the motions of the mark ceremony, just as I had in my past life. After the final ritual, I was led to our shared room, but instead of waiting for him, I tore off the ceremonial veil and slipped out the door.

I saw Isaac striding toward the pack’s training grounds and followed him. Behind a cluster of trees, I found him with Halle Crawford, the daughter of a neighboring Alpha. He pulled her into his arms, their kisses desperate and hungry.

“Halle, quiet,” he murmured, his voice low but carrying through the night. “Someone might hear.”

“Let them hear,” she replied, her voice filled with arrogance. “I’m the daughter of an Alpha. Who would dare challenge me?”

Her eyes met mine, and a cruel smile spread across her face. My tears fell, but she only laughed louder, her voice mocking me.

“Alpha,” she purred, “do you love her or me?”

Isaac didn’t hesitate. “You, Halle. Only you. I’ve only ever loved you.”

“Then why keep her by your side for two years?”

“Because of you,” he admitted, his voice tinged with frustration. “Every time you pushed me away, I needed someone who reminded me of you. Her scent… it was the closest I could get to yours.”

My heart shattered, the pain so intense I tasted blood in my mouth. Even that—the one thing I thought was ours—was a lie. He had never loved me. I was just a shadow, a placeholder for someone he truly desired.

I turned away, my legs trembling as I stumbled back to my room. The mate bond, once a source of strength, now felt like a chain, binding me to a man who had never truly been mine.

I traced my finger over the territory expansion documents, a smile playing on my lips. After ten years of marriage, Ethan had finally remembered our anniversary with something meaningful—new hunting grounds for our pack that would cement the Silver Moon's status among the neighboring territories. "Mrs. Montgomery-Reynolds," I murmured, searching for my name beside Ethan's on the official declaration. Strange. My brow furrowed as I flipped through page after page of legal jargon. Alpha Ethan Reynolds was listed repeatedly, but where was my name? As Luna, I should be named on all official pack documents. "That can't be right," I whispered, my heart quickening. I gathered the papers and headed toward Silas Croft's office.

I stood at the grand entrance of the Williamson pack house, watching Jeremy's rental car pull up the circular drive. The familiar weight of responsibility settled on my shoulders as I prepared to welcome his mother—a woman I'd never met but had heard enough about to feel a knot forming in my stomach. Jeremy emerged first, his Harvard-educated confidence evident in every movement. Then came Mrs. Barnes. She was smaller than I'd expected, her Omega wolf making her appear almost fragile, but something in her sharp eyes immediately put me on edge. She surveyed our ancestral home with a critical gaze that made my wolf stir uneasily. "So this is where my son's been living," she said, her voice carrying a false sweetness that didn't reach her eyes. "Quite... extravagant." Jeremy cleared his throat, adjusting his glasses—a nervous habit I'd learned to recognize.

The scent of rain and pine still clung to Austin’s skin as I smoothed the collar of his dress shirt. It was four in the morning, the hour when the Silver Moon Pack was silent, and the only time I was allowed to exist in this room. For eight years, this had been my life. While the pack slept, I was the hands that prepared the Alpha’s tonic, the shadow that organized his schedule, and the warmth in his bed. But the moment the sun crested the horizon, I became Ivy Williams, the wolfless Omega, invisible and insignificant. "Turn around," Austin murmured, his voice thick with sleep. I obeyed instantly, my body humming at the command. His hands, large and calloused, rested on my waist. For a heartbeat, he buried his face in the crook of my neck, inhaling deeply. The bond between us—that secret, golden thread that only we could feel—pulled taut.

The iron grip on my arm tightened as my father dragged me through the massive wrought-iron gates of the Obsidian Fang Pack territory. My legs trembled with each step, the weight of our pack's massive debt settling heavier on my shoulders than the rough hands guiding me forward. "Keep walking," my father whispered, his once-proud voice now fractured with defeat. "Don't give them any reason to..." He didn't finish. He didn't need to. I knew what happened to Omegas who defied Alphas. The imposing stone mansion loomed before us, its windows reflecting the fading sunlight like watchful eyes. Wolves in formal attire lined the entrance, their cold gazes following our every move. I kept my eyes downcast, focusing on the marble steps beneath my feet as we entered the grand hall. "Alpha Caspian," my father announced, his voice cracking as he pushed me forward.
