The Act of Cheating

After being secretly married to me for five years, my husband, a famous actor, suddenly reveals his relationship on his Twitter account. Promotional accounts find out who I am and make me out to be a woman who refuses to let the relationship die.

My husband's fans criticize and mock me all over the Internet, but I'm unfazed. My husband's the one who cheated on me, yet he's acting like he's deeply in love with another woman.

Does he think I'm nothing but a regular businesswoman? Sometimes, some people get ahead of themselves because they forget their roots. I bet he's forgotten who funded his success!

I had only just finished up a business meeting and gone back to my hotel room when my family suddenly started blowing up my phone with calls.

"Ally! What's going on?" The first to call was my sister, Anastasia Vaughn.

"Huh? What do you mean? What's going on?"

I was still very confused when she called.

"Oh, okay. As long as you're alright then. I was just asking you how the meeting went," she said with a relieved sigh when she heard my confused voice.

The second person to call was my best friend, Cindy Hertz. "Ally! Are you okay? Don't get upset, okay?" She sounded very anxious on the phone.

"Huh?"

Again, I was confused.

"Oh, you don't know about it yet? It's alright then! I was just asking you what it was like on the other side of the world!"

Cindy then made a few jokes and laughed for a while before hanging up.

Next, my mother called me.

"Alyssa! Are you okay?" she asked while hiccuping with tears.

"Okay, what's going on?" I asked, finally unable to hold it in anymore.

Mom went silent for a few seconds like she was stunned. Then, she exclaimed, "Alyssa, don't you know about it yet? Darren and that actress just made it official! Someone even managed to dig up your information and called you a homewrecker! The whole internet is on fire and calling you names now!"

"Darren Miles? How dare he?" I asked, frowning.

"Alyssa, don't mind him, okay? Your father and I and your uncles are already planning to blacklist him!" Mom said with a growl.

I held my head in my hands while feeling a little helpless. "Mom! Don't rush into things just yet, and tell them to hold their horses too! Let me see what's going on first. I'm sure this is something I can solve by myself!"

After talking to her for a long time, Mom finally promised me that she'd stay out of this.

I opened up Twitter and saw the list of trending searches and hashtags at once.

"A-List Actor Darren Miles' Relationship Exposed!"

"Award-Winning Actor Darren Miles in Love."

"Top Actor Darren Miles Gifts Flowers to Top Actress Eunice Gray."

As it turned out, Darren had just posted a Tweet earlier with a photo attached to it. The photo showed a bouquet of 99 red roses and a woman's back. Meanwhile, the caption read, "The prettiest flowers for the prettiest you."

Meanwhile, Eunice also posted another Tweet after that, along with a photo of their intertwined hands. Her Tweet read, "The flowers were pretty, but I think I prefer you."
