Sight Unveils His Lies

A week before the wedding, a car accident unexpectedly restored my eyesight. Thrilled by this miracle, I went in search of my fiancé, Alejandro. Let's keep going,” Alejandro whispered. “Besides, isn't this exciting?” That night, in the hotel bathroom, I found perfume and lingerie that weren’t mine. Back in the bedroom, I removed my wedding dress, tore up our photos, and calmly dialed a number. “Aunt Camilla, I’ve made a decision. Chapter 1

A week before the wedding, a car accident unexpectedly restored my eyesight. Thrilled by this miracle, I went in search of my fiancé, Alejandro. To my dismay, I stumbled upon him and his assistant, Lakelynn, in an intimate moment.

“Don't worry, she can't see us. Let's keep going,” Alejandro whispered. “Besides, isn't this exciting?”

That night, in the hotel bathroom, I found perfume and lingerie that weren’t mine. Back in the bedroom, I removed my wedding dress, tore up our photos, and calmly dialed a number.

“Aunt Camilla, I’ve made a decision. I’m going abroad to continue my studies next week.”

Later, I heard Alejandro went frantic trying to find me.

---

Standing behind the slightly ajar door of what was supposed to be our wedding suite, I heard unmistakable sounds of passion. As I stepped inside, the sight froze me—Alejandro, locked in a heated embrace with Lakelynn.

The spiced honey cake fell from my hands, crashing to the floor. The sudden noise startled them, and they both looked up in shock. “Who’s there?”

Their breathless tension was palpable. After a brief pause, Alejandro signaled Lakelynn to stay quiet, placing a finger to his lips in a silent 'shush'. He cautiously spoke, “Hattie, you're back? What did the doctor say?”

The light behind me cast shadows over my face, hiding my eyes. I feigned blindness, tapping my cane as I replied, “The doctor said everything's fine.”

Seeing my calm demeanor, Alejandro sighed in silent relief. He patted Lakelynn's thigh, urging her to stand. With a mocking grin, he said, “That's great to hear, I’ve been worried all day.” His so-called worry had been clearly preoccupied with his assistant.

I clenched my fists to maintain my composure. “It's a shame about the cake. I went out of my way to get it for us.” I had intended to celebrate the return of my sight with him, but now there was no need to tell him.

Upon hearing I’d gone to buy a cake, Alejandro's face softened with feigned emotion. He walked over, drawing me into a hug. “Don’t worry, I’ll get you another one.”

I stood rigid in his embrace, catching the familiar scent of Lakelynn’s perfume. My peripheral vision caught sight of faint red marks around his neck, and a wave of nausea hit me. Fighting the urge to pull away, I claimed I needed to use the bathroom.

Once the door was closed, tears silently fell down my cheeks. Looking down, I was startled by lingerie tossed carelessly by the sink and a nearly empty box of condoms in the cabinet. For the past six months, Alejandro and I had been distant. My heart felt clenched in a vise, leaving me gasping for air.

Their affair was clearly not a recent development. As I closed the cabinet, I accidentally knocked a bottle of perfume from the counter. The next moment, Alejandro burst in, urgently pulling me aside.

“What are you doing? Blind and knocking things over everywhere!” I thought he was concerned for me, but he was fixated on the perfume. It was the latest women’s fragrance from his company, with Lakelynn’s name engraved on it—created just for her.

His rough handling caused me to stumble, hitting the edge of the sink. A sharp pain shot through my leg, and I winced. Alejandro picked up the broken pieces, scowling, on the verge of anger. But when he saw my pale face, he bit back his words.

“Are you okay? You can’t see, you should be more careful.”

The man before me had shed the youthful innocence of five years ago. Now, maturity and a certain seriousness defined him. Alejandro, seemingly indifferent, examined my leg and applied a balm to the wound. Since losing my sight, I'd often bumped into things, and caring for me had become a routine for him over the years.

But the concern in his voice was diluted with disdain as he looked at me. His love had always been an illusion.

I stood in my family's study, the afternoon sun casting long shadows across the antique Persian rug as my half-brother Pablo leaned against our father's mahogany desk. His expression was unreadable as always, but I knew that look in his eyes—calculation mixed with the cold precision of a chess player about to announce checkmate. "You can't avoid this forever, Gwen," Pablo said, his voice eerily calm as he examined the family portrait hanging behind the desk. "The arrangement with Arthur Roberts has been years in the making. Father was quite clear about his wishes." I clenched my fists, feeling the familiar rage bubbling up inside me. "I don't care what Father wanted. I'm not a piece of property to be bartered away for some business merger." Pablo's lips curved into something that wasn't quite a smile. "Sentiment doesn't change reality. The Walker-Roberts alliance will stabilize both families' holdings across three continents." "I won't do it," I said, my voice low but firm. "I've known Arthur since we were children.

The white lace caught the October wind as I smoothed my hands over the dress one more time.
