Chapter 1

On the day Clara forced me to sign the divorce papers, I got bound to a self-sabotaging system.

The system commanded me to slap her hard and tell her to get lost.

I trembled in fear because Clara was a ruthless person.

If I dared to stop her from getting back together with the love of her life, she would utterly destroy me.

But the system threatened me: "If you don't self-sabotage, you will die soon."

Left with no choice, I slapped her.

As soon as I hit her, I ran out of the house, terrified.

The system then told me to smash a police car on the side of the road.

I suspected the system wanted me dead.

However, after I smashed the police car's side view mirror, I realized that the system was trying to sabotage someone else's life instead.

I stared at the police car in front of me, feeling utterly incredulous.

"I'm not gonna smash it! That's a crime!"

The system in my mind said coldly, "If you don't self-sabotage, you'll die."

I did not believe it at first.

Half an hour ago, I suddenly heard the system's voice in my mind.

It told me that I was the male protagonist in a tragic story that would end in my death.

I would be kicked out after the love of Clara's life, Maxey Tyler, returned to the country.

After experiencing a series of heart-wrenching and physically-torturous plots where I would bleed and have my kidneys taken, I would be beaten to death by a group of thugs and die miserably.

I shuddered after hearing that because Maxey did return to the country last month.

During the past month, there were several nights when Clara did not come home.

She started to space out when she looked at me, and I saw a man's cologne in her pocket that did not belong to me.

Occasionally, she would avoid me when answering the phone.

I knew that this fragile marriage had come to an end.

Today, Clara handed me a divorce agreement.

"Maxey refuses to see me these days. He said I'm married, so he should stay away from me. As you know, he's not in good health, and something will happen to him if no one takes care of him. Jason, sign the divorce papers."

I looked through the divorce papers. There was no mention of any property that I would receive.

I had exhausted my savings in those two years I helped Clara make a comeback from bankruptcy.

These years, she wouldn't let me work because she found it embarrassing. If I were kicked out, I wouldn't even be able to afford dinner.

I originally wanted to talk it over with her, but the system told me to slap her.

Outsiders said that Clara, who had rebuilt her business after bankruptcy, was a ruthless devil who would use any means to achieve her goals. That slap was truly unwise.

Now, the system urged me to sabotage myself again, "Hurry up and smash the car!"

Afraid that the scenario the system told me would come true, I found a brick and smashed the car's side view mirror.

With a loud crash, the side view mirror shattered and fell to the ground.

The alarm sounded, and three police officers rushed over from around the corner.

I quickly raised my hands, ready to confess my crime.

The leading policeman gestured with his hand, and I was taken back to the police station.

In the interrogation room, a police officer questioned me while holding my blood test results.

"You're not drunk, your mental state is normal; why did you smash the police car? Don't you know it's a crime?"

I said word-for-word what the system told me to say, "I know. I did it on purpose. I know what I'm doing."

The young policewoman was speechless.

"What's wrong with you? Did you break up with your girlfriend or something?"

I told the truth. "No, I'm getting divorced."

The policewoman cleared her throat, "The total fine is 150 dollars and you will be placed in detention for 10 days. Notify your family, and don't do that again."

I took out several bank cards, but I couldn't withdraw any money.

Clara was already teaching me a lesson.

The police asked me to call my family. I made 10 calls in a row, but all of them went unanswered.

I called one more time and found that I had been blocked.

The policewoman used the landline to call. As soon as she mentioned my name, she was interrupted.

Clara's voice, which used to be gentle, was now so cold that it could freeze. "Jason Jenas? Notify me when he's dead."

The police officers looked at each other.

The female officer took a closer look at my registration details and saw the word "orphan" written on it.

Her look was unpleasant. "Let's detain him for now."

The 10 days were not as hard as I imagined.

Every day, I underwent reform education. I didn't have much time to think of Clara.
