Chapter 2

Cheating on Me

Winona and I parted on unpleasant terms that day. I knew she was only streaming to give us a better life. Still, as a man, I could never accept the fact that my wife was doing that kind of stream.

From then on, Winona no longer streamed. I took on all of the housework, thinking it would make her less stressed.

She gave me the cold shoulder the entire time. Even though she was a woman with a high drive, she never once asked me to take her to bed.

I excused her behavior as her still being mad at me. I planned to cook her a feast of her favorite food to put her in a good mood while I told her about the new job I found.

While my job as a security guard at a hotel was not as glorious as my old job, I could find an additional job once I settled down.

I would work hard to earn more money for her. I would no longer make her feel forced to do something she did not like.

I had planned to surprise Winona with the feast, but she wasn't at home.

I called and called, but she never answered her phone.

Finally, she messaged me that she would be staying the night at her friend's place instead.

It would be a lie to say I was not disappointed. Still, I did not think much about it and turned my attention to the laundry.

When Winona returned to see just how much I had done, she would surely stop being mad at me.

Winona's undergarments were delicate, and I usually hand-washed them. On the contrary, I did not find it embarrassing to be washing my wife's undergarments.

However, for the first time ever, I felt an agonizing pain shoot through me.

There were visible milky stains on Winona's underwear. It was clear that this man could better satisfy Winona.

I resisted the urge to cry and interrogate Winona over the phone.

Perhaps I was mistaken.

I wanted to hide myself away in denial, but the stains right before my eyes kept reminding me that my wife cheated on me.

For the first time, I felt extremely useless and powerless. Still, I chose to live in denial.

All of that because Winona once loved me so much that she donated her kidney to me.

Since then, I began to pay heed to this girl who was so deeply in love with me. Eventually, I married her.

That was why I did not believe she would cheat on me. However, everything that happened next made it impossible for me to continue living in denial.

When Winona returned home the next day, she was in a rare, good mood. Her disdain for me dramatically decreased.

As Winona ate her favorite food, I told her about my new job.

She gave me a rare smile. However, that smile quickly turned into an ugly look when I told her I would be working at Pinnacle Hotel.

She slammed her cutlery down in anger. "Jonathan, I don't care. You will quit this job and find some other job."

The sudden change in attitude was very strange, but I did not think much of it. I had assumed she just found it shameful that I would be working as a security guard.

"Don't worry, Winona. While being a security guard isn't a grand job, this hotel pays quite well. I'll find a second job, too. In the future, you can just relax at home."

I had spoken with caution, but something I said still sent Winona flying off the handle. She poured a glass of orange juice over my head.

I was instantly turned into a messy wreck. All I could hear was Winona saying, "Jonathan, if you keep being such an embarrassment, I'll divorce you."

I did not understand what I had done wrong. An overwhelming bitterness spread through me.

Still, I endured the humiliation and agreed to quit as Winona requested. All of that just to save our crumbling marriage.

To my surprise, Winona suddenly changed her mind the next day. She told me to keep the job and, for the first time ever, apologized to me and admitted she had made a mistake yesterday.

As compensation, she gave me a passionate kiss. Just as I tried to go further, she stopped me, claiming it was that time of the month.

Winona's periods were very regular. Still, I did not expose her seemingly logical excuse for the lie it was.

Like a fool, I was wrapped up in my delusional dream of having a happy marriage.

Yet, she shattered my delusions once more, exposing me to the bloody truth.
