Rejected Mate's Revenge
Chapter 2
The moon stones scattered across my desk seemed to pulse with a cold light, mocking my shattered dreams. I stared at them, my tears drying as something hardened inside me.
"He thinks he can just discard me?" I whispered to my wolf, who growled in agreement.
My fingers trembled as I reached for my private communication crystal—the one reserved for my secret identity. Three years I had supported Zander, three years I had believed in our future. Now, I would use every resource at my disposal to make him regret this betrayal.
"Activate the Storm Wolf network," I commanded, my voice steadier than I felt. "Priority one."
The crystal warmed in my palm, glowing with a soft blue light as it connected to my carefully cultivated network of pack strategists across the territory. My father had built these connections during his years as Beta, but I had transformed them into something more—a web of influence that spanned every major pack in the region.
"Storm Wolf requests immediate broadcast," I said, my voice taking on the measured tone that had made me legendary among pack strategists. "Encode level seven."
I closed my eyes, gathering my thoughts as the network prepared to transmit my words directly into the minds of thousands of pack members.
"Attention all allies," I began, crafting the narrative that would shape public opinion. "This is Storm Wolf with an urgent alert. Today, we witnessed the betrayal of a devoted mate by the so-called 'Heartless Alpha Graduate.'"
I paused, letting the words sink in across the network.
"Zander Campbell, who graduated today with highest honors from Crescent Academy, has rejected his fated mate—the daughter of former Beta Marcus Nichols—in favor of political advantage with the Lycan King's daughter."
I felt the ripple of shock across the network as my words reached pack members across multiple territories.
"For three years, this mate supported him through his training, providing resources, strategic counsel, and unwavering loyalty. Yet today, he discarded her without remorse."
I could sense the outrage building as my message spread. This wasn't just about my pain anymore—this was about something sacred being violated.
"Storm Wolf calls upon all honorable wolves to recognize this betrayal for what it is: a stain upon the sacred bond of mates."
---
I was still connected to the network when my private line activated. The intrusion could only mean one thing—someone important was trying to reach me.
"Adelaide Nichols," a formal voice announced. "This is Alpha Chen from the Silver Moon Pack Council."
I straightened, surprised to hear from our current Alpha so soon.
"Yes, Alpha Chen?"
"We've received an official request from the Lycan Court," he said, his tone carefully neutral. "They're requesting an investigation into your pack status and activities."
My heart skipped a beat. "On what grounds?"
"They're claiming irregularities in your father's former position and questioning your eligibility for continued pack protection."
I knew immediately who was behind this. "Zander," I whispered.
"The request came through his channels," Alpha Chen confirmed. "The Lycan King's influence is... substantial."
I closed my eyes, understanding washing over me. This wasn't just rejection—this was systematic erasure.
"I understand," I said, my mind already calculating my next moves. "Thank you for the warning."
---
By nightfall, my study had transformed into a war room. Maps of pack territories covered my walls, with red markers indicating where my messages had taken hold.
"Storm Wolf has received reports from seventeen territories," Elena Storm, my former mentor and the woman who had first inspired my secret identity, said as she entered with fresh reports. "The support rallies are already organizing."
I nodded, scanning the latest responses. "What about the Silver Moon Pack members?"
"Over ninety percent have expressed outrage," Elena confirmed. "Your father's old connections are particularly vocal."
I traced the patterns on my desk, a habit from my Beta training days. "And the other pack leaders?"
"Divided," Elena admitted. "Some are staying neutral, waiting to see which way the wind blows. Others are openly supportive."
I picked up one of the moon stones, watching it catch the light. "Zander thought he could bury me," I said quietly. "He has no idea what I'm capable of."
Elena placed a hand on my shoulder. "The network is yours to command, Storm Wolf."
I nodded, turning to the communication crystal. "Prepare phase two," I ordered. "Document every response, every rally, every declaration of support. We're building a case that even the Lycan King can't ignore."
As night deepened around us, I felt my wolf stir with renewed purpose. The pain of rejection still burned, but now it fueled something stronger—something that would make Zander regret the day he ever thought he could break me.
Outside my window, I could see pack members gathering in the distance, their voices raised in support of the betrayed mate of the "Heartless Alpha Graduate." My story was spreading faster than even I had anticipated.
And somewhere out there, Zander was just beginning to realize what he had unleashed.
