Rejected by the Pack, Reborn in Vengeance

The Silver Moon Pack was facing a wave of demotions. Aubree, a Delta warrior, had her rank stripped without her knowledge—her mate, Matthew Simmons, a Gamma, had negotiated a severance package on her behalf so his distant cousin, Paloma Boyd, could join the pack as a trainee. "Paloma promised to repay us once she’s fully trained," Matthew said, his tone dismissive. "Besides, the pack has already decided to demote you. After you receive the severance, I’ll take care of you. You won’t need to fight anymore." Aubree, heart heavy but trusting her mate, stepped back from her duties. She focused on their pup and their home, tending to the small tasks of daily life. But one evening, she overheard Matthew speaking in hushed tones with Paloma. "Actually, the Alpha said there won’t be any more demotions for now," he murmured. "Your position will be waiting for you once you complete your training.

Chapter 1

The Silver Moon Pack was facing a wave of demotions. Aubree, a Delta warrior, had her rank stripped without her knowledge—her mate, Matthew Simmons, a Gamma, had negotiated a severance package on her behalf so his distant cousin, Paloma Boyd, could join the pack as a trainee.

"Paloma promised to repay us once she’s fully trained," Matthew said, his tone dismissive. "Besides, the pack has already decided to demote you. After you receive the severance, I’ll take care of you. You won’t need to fight anymore."

Aubree, heart heavy but trusting her mate, stepped back from her duties.

Aubree’s just a Delta—she doesn’t have the potential you do. She’s expendable."

The words struck Aubree like a blow. She confronted Matthew, her voice trembling with anger and betrayal. In response, he exiled her and their pup from the pack lands.

"Paloma’s always wanted to be a warrior," Matthew sneered. "If you hadn’t taken the last spot, do you think I would’ve stayed with you? Know your place!"

Tragically, Aubree and her pup were attacked by a rogue on their way to the border, and neither survived. Matthew and Paloma, freed from the burden of Aubree’s presence, thrived within the pack.

When Aubree awoke, rumors of another round of demotions were circulating. This time, she went straight to Alpha Wallace, her resolve unshakable.

"I’ve heard there’s an opportunity for a challenging assignment at the border patrol," she said, standing tall before the Alpha. "I’d like to volunteer for it."

"Are you certain?" Alpha Wallace asked, his piercing gaze assessing her. The assignment was perilous, set in the remote northern territories where rogues and rival packs roamed freely. Success was far from guaranteed.

"You could return with nothing to show for it," he warned. The pack had struggled to find anyone willing to accept the assignment for weeks. Even seasoned warriors hesitated.

Aubree nodded firmly. "Yes, Alpha. I want to prove myself and contribute to the pack. I hope you’ll give me this chance."

Seeing the determination in her eyes, Alpha Wallace agreed. "Very well. I’ll arrange for you to leave with Gamma Allen."

Relieved, Aubree returned to her quarters to prepare. But before she could finish, Matthew burst in, panic etched across his face. He carried a message scroll bearing the pack’s seal.

"According to the Alpha’s latest decree, the pack is restructuring," he said, his voice rushed. "With your rank and experience, you’ll be among the first to be demoted."

Aubree gave him a knowing look. In her past life, he had used this very tactic to manipulate her. The decree, while alarming, only applied to the lowest-ranking warriors and Omegas, not Deltas like herself. Yet, blinded by Matthew’s lies, she had fallen into his trap, unaware he had bribed Alpha Wallace to strip her rank.

The severance package never reached her—instead, it went to Paloma for her training.

"Don’t worry, Aubree," Matthew said, his tone patronizing. "I’m a Gamma. Our family has my position, and you’ll never go hungry."

Aubree managed their home, oblivious to Matthew’s scheming with Paloma. They weren’t even blood relatives.

"As long as I can get Paloma into the position she wants, I don’t mind having mated that plain Aubree. I can just leave her when everything’s set."

"Matthew," Aubree scoffed, tossing the scroll aside. "I’m not being demoted. I’ve accepted the border patrol assignment. Once I complete it, I’ll have proven my worth, and no one will take my rank from me."

He stared at her, dumbfounded.

I could feel every pair of eyes in the Council chamber boring into me as I stood to speak. The monthly Pack Council meeting had always been my domain as much as Stefan's. For six years, I'd sat at this table—not as decoration, but as the Luna who'd bled for every inch of territory we now controlled. The scar on my left shoulder, hidden beneath my silk blouse, was proof enough of that. "Regarding the eastern border patrols," I began, keeping my voice steady and diplomatic, "I recommend we rotate the Delta shifts every forty-eight hours instead of seventy-two. The Rogues have been testing our defenses at dawn, and fatigue is making our warriors—" "Amara." Stefan's voice cut through mine like a blade through silk. I stopped mid-sentence, my wolf stirring uneasily beneath my skin. Something in his tone felt wrong. Cold. The way he'd say my name when correcting an Omega who'd overstepped.
After My Mate Abandoned Me, I Escaped Novel Cover

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows through the human town's market square as I wandered between the stalls, breathing in the mingled scents of fresh bread and blooming flowers. Here, among humans who knew nothing of pack hierarchies or mate bonds, I could pretend to be just another woman selecting roses for her dining table. My fingers traced the velvet petals of a deep crimson rose, and for a moment, I allowed myself to imagine Ethan's face when he saw them on our table tonight. Three years together, and I still hoped for those rare moments when his cold facade would crack, revealing glimpses of the mate bond I believed lay dormant beneath. "Beautiful choice," the elderly vendor said, her weathered hands wrapping the stems in brown paper. "Someone special?" "My mate," I replied softly, the word still sending a flutter through my chest despite everything. The woman's knowing smile faltered as a chill swept through the warm evening air. The market sounds—haggling voices, children's laughter, the clink of coins—seemed to dim as four figures materialized from the crowd. Victoria Taylor stood at their center, her blonde hair catching the dying light like spun gold. Three Delta wolves flanked her, their presence turning the peaceful market into a hunting ground.

The river water rushed gently against the muddy bank, a steady, familiar sound that usually brought me peace. My hands trembled slightly as I struck another match, lighting the last vanilla candle. The soft, flickering glow illuminated the picnic blanket I had carefully laid out. On it sat a plate of Jonas’s favorite honey-glazed ribs, a small berry tart, and a velvet box holding the matching silver bands. In my other hand, I tightly gripped the worn metal of his old harmonica. Five years. Five years of quiet devotion, of learning his every habit, of supporting the future Beta of the Black River Pack with every ounce of my soul. I had poured my entire heart into building our bond. Tonight, I was finally going to mark him as my chosen mate. I hummed a low, nervous melody—'Always Together Under the Moon'—trying to settle the excited, restless pacing of my inner wolf.
