Rejected by My Alpha, Replaced by His Luna Novel Cover

Rejected by My Alpha, Replaced by His Luna

Ezra's rise to Alpha should have sealed her fate as Luna, but instead it severs the mate bond, freezing his mark and leaving her abandoned in the corridor, the ceremonial cloak still in her hands. Replaced by a new chosen one, she must navigate a pack that no longer sees her as worthy. Yet the bond, though shattered, whispers with a dangerous, obsessive hunger—refusing to fade. As secrets and forbidden longing surface, she faces a choice: accept the rejection or fight for a love that destiny itself seems determined to destroy.

Chapter 2

Three days.

That's how long I waited before I understood what silence meant.

The mate bond was still there. I could feel it—a thin thread connecting my chest to something distant and cold, like a wire pulled taut in winter. But when I reached through it, searching for Ezra's presence the way the bond was supposed to work, I hit a wall.

Not severed. Just closed.

Like a door held nearly shut by someone on the other side who didn't want to be found.

I stood at the window of my small room in the east wing and pressed my palm flat against the glass. The mark on my neck throbbed—not with heat, the way it had the night he'd bitten me, but with a dull, spreading cold that made my skin feel numb.

I'd tried the mind-link four times in three days. Four times, nothing.

This morning, I stopped trying.

Instead, I tracked his scent.

It wasn't hard. Ezra's scent trail was still fresh along the southern corridor, threaded with pine and iron and something sharper underneath—adrenaline, maybe, or guilt. It led out of the pack house, through the main gate, and south toward the rival territory border.

I stood at the gate and stared at the trail disappearing into the trees.

He'd left the morning after the mating ceremony. Taken Parker Ellis with him. Run rival territory together while his newly marked mate sat alone in a room no one visited unless they needed something.

My wolf stirred beneath my ribs. Not the small, silent presence I'd carried my whole life, but something hotter. Something that wanted to break things.

I turned and walked back to the pack house.

When Ezra finally returned, it was late afternoon. I heard the gate open from three corridors away. Heard his boots on the stone steps. Heard Parker's lighter footsteps half a beat behind him.

I was already standing in the main corridor when he walked through the door.

He saw me. I know he did, because his eyes flicked toward mine for half a second before sliding away.

Then he brushed past me like I wasn't there.

Parker followed. She didn't look at me either, but her mouth curved at the corner—just a small, private smile, the kind you give yourself when you've already won.

I stood there with one hand pressed to the mark on my neck. It pulsed once, cold and distant, and then went another degree colder.

My wolf released a sound in my chest.

Not a whimper. Not a whine.

Something else.

I followed them.

Not because I thought confrontation would change anything. But because I needed to see it. Needed to know exactly what I was dealing with so I could plan accordingly.

The Alpha suite door was half-open when I reached it.

I should have knocked. Should have announced myself. Should have done any of the things an Omega was supposed to do before entering a space that belonged to someone ranked higher.

I pushed the door open instead.

Parker was standing in the center of the room, and she was wearing my Luna cloak.

The white silk with silver threading. The one Helen Crawford had handed me three days ago with that thin, careful smile. The one I'd dropped in the corridor outside Ezra's study the night everything went cold.

It draped over Parker's shoulders like it had always belonged there. Like she'd been born to wear it.

She turned when I walked in, and her smile widened.

"Olivia." Her voice was warm. Pleasant. The tone you'd use with someone who'd just done you a favor. "I was wondering when you'd come by."

I didn't answer. I was looking past her, at Ezra, who stood near the window with his back to both of us.

"Ezra," I said quietly.

He didn't turn.

Parker tilted her head, studying me the way you'd study something small and harmless. "He's busy right now. Pack business. You understand."

I felt my wolf rise again—hotter this time, pushing against my ribs like she was trying to claw her way out.

"That's my cloak," I said.

Parker glanced down at the silk as though she'd forgotten she was wearing it. "Oh. This?" She smoothed one hand over the fabric. "Helen said it needed to go to someone who'd actually use it. Someone who understands what it means to be Luna."

I heard footsteps behind me. Turned and saw wolves gathering in the corridor—Deltas, a few Gammas, pack members drawn by the scent of conflict the way sharks are drawn to blood.

Ezra finally turned from the window.

His eyes met mine for the first time in three days, and I felt the bond flicker—a brief, desperate pulse of warmth that died almost immediately.

Then his expression hardened.

"Olivia." His voice was flat. Alpha-neutral. The tone he used in pack meetings when he wanted to shut down an argument before it started. "This isn't the time."

"When is the time?" I asked.

He didn't answer.

Parker stepped forward, still wearing my cloak, and positioned herself just slightly in front of Ezra. A subtle shift. A claiming of space.

"Olivia, I think you should go," she said gently. "You're upset. That's understandable. But causing a scene won't help anything."

I looked at Ezra. Waited for him to correct her. To tell her she didn't speak for him. To do anything that acknowledged the mark on my neck and the bond that was supposed to mean something.

He said nothing.

The wolves in the corridor pressed closer. I could feel their eyes on my back. Could hear the whispers starting—low and eager, the pack scenting drama the way they scented prey.

My wolf snarled.

And then Ezra spoke.

Not to me. To the pack.

"Parker speaks with my authority."

The words hit like a physical blow.

I felt my knees buckle before I understood what was happening. Felt my body drop toward the floor as though someone had cut the strings holding me upright.

Alpha tone.

He was using Alpha tone on me.

On his mate.

My knees hit the stone floor hard enough that I felt something crack. Pain shot up my legs. The mark on my neck throbbed once, cold and vicious, and then went completely numb.

I knelt there, head bowed, blood seeping through the fabric of my pants where my knees had split open on the stone.

The corridor went silent.

Ezra stood above me, and I could feel the weight of his wolf pressing down on mine, forcing her into submission the way an Alpha could force any wolf ranked lower.

Except I wasn't supposed to be ranked lower.

I was supposed to be his Luna.

Parker's voice came from somewhere above me, soft and satisfied. "See? She understands."

I didn't look up. Didn't speak. Didn't move.

But my wolf—my small, silent, useless wolf—was awake now.

And she wasn't whimpering anymore.

She was calculating.
