Chapter 2

Chase asked doubtfully, "You agree? Really?"

I nodded. "Don't worry, honey. I'm confident."

When Chase saw how understanding I was being and how confident I was about getting pregnant, his tone softened. "Don't worry, Callista. If you can give me a son within two years, I'll marry you at once."

Chase slid a ring onto my finger. The diamond on it was as big as a bird's egg.

At the emcee's urging, he closed his eyes and leaned over to kiss me.

There was no trace of happiness on Willow's face, even though she was my bridesmaid. Instead, she was filled with a wild jealousy.

I looked sideways at Willow, who was gritting her teeth, and I sneered inwardly.

As I had expected, Willow could not restrain herself. She rushed forward and smiled as she forced Chase and I apart.

She brushed against Chase with her chest on purpose and almost fell into his arms as she said playfully, "Oh, Mr. Grayson! Why are you in such a rush? You can't kiss the bride so quickly!"

Willow was fairly good-looking; she began to seduce him openly.

However, Chase was a wealthy heir and had dated all kinds of women.

The only thing he was fixated on was having children. He had heard that Willow was infertile due to having had too many abortions, so he had no interest in her at all.

Chase pushed Willow roughly away, and hurt flashed in her eyes.

She didn't blame Chase and held a grudge against me instead.

She pretended to be curious. "Callista, is your family really as fertile as they say? Are you exaggerating? You're going to be kicked out if you aren't able to have children."

Chase heard her and looked doubtfully at me. Willow stared at me, her lip curling in disdain.

I did not panic; I just kept nodding. "My family's fertility has been proven over five generations. Don't worry, I won't let you down. I'm sure I'll have a son very soon!"

I pulled out a pouch right in front of them. It was already filled with ovulation injections and drugs that would increase the chances of pregnancy.

Willow's eyes lit up at once.

Chase took my hand eagerly and said immediately, "Callista, let's forget about the rest of the wedding. Let's go to our room right now and get a son on our first try!"

Willow laughed and took my hand as well as she pushed me toward the marital bedroom.

"Callista, hurry and make a baby with Mr. Grayson. I can't wait to carry your child very soon!"

When I saw how eager they were to make use of me, I scoffed.

In my past life, Chase had pulled out all the stops to court me and marry me, just so that he could use me as a breeding machine.

He knew how damaging it was to my health to have too many ovulation injections, but he forced me to have them every single day. He didn't care how much pain I was in, or that my ovaries ended up irreversibly damaged.

As for Willow, she had taken everything that belonged to me using the system, and she was the reason for the tragic deaths of my entire family.

He was a monster, whilst she was his evil lackey. They had joined forces to squeeze me dry and forced me to my death.

Now that I was reliving my life, I would make them pay the price!

Ariella Quinn never imagined that survival would come with a wedding ring. Once, her life was quiet. Ordinary. Safe. Then her family's name was dragged into a scandal they did not create, their finances collapsed overnight, and every door that once opened to them slammed shut. Behind it all stood one name-Blackwood. A name whispered with fear, respect, and power. A name Ariella learned to hate without ever seeing the face behind it. Lucien Blackwood is not a man who explains himself. As a billionaire with influence that stretches far beyond boardrooms, he is known for control, precision, and results-no matter the cost. When Ariella is summoned under the pretense of a legal negotiation, she expects humiliation. What she doesn't expect is a contract that will change the course of her life forever. Marriage. Cold. Legal. Non-negotiable. Lucien offers protection, financial security, and silence in exchange for one thing: her name beside his. To the public, it will look like a fortunate match. To Ariella, it is a cage built by the very man whose decisions ruined her family. Refusal is not an option. Acceptance feels like surrender. Their marriage is not born of love, attraction, or trust. It is built on resentment, fear, and secrets deliberately left unexplained. Lucien keeps his distance, enforcing rules rather than affection. Ariella enters his world surrounded by luxury that feels more like surveillance than comfort. Guards watch her movements. Strangers know her schedule. Danger lingers just beneath the surface. And the worst part? No one will tell her why. As threats begin to surface and pieces of the past refuse to stay buried, Ariella realizes that her "ruin" may not have been accidental. The marriage that destroyed her freedom may also be the only thing keeping her alive. Every answer Lucien withholds deepens her anger-and her curiosity. Every moment of forced proximity tightens the tension between them. This is a slow-burn romance driven by emotional restraint, power imbalance, and psychological conflict. Love does not arrive easily. Trust is hard-won. And forgiveness may be more dangerous than hatred. Married to the Man Who Ruined Me is a gripping billionaire romance that blends contract marriage, suspense, and emotional depth. With carefully paced revelations and chapter-ending cliffhangers, the story keeps readers questioning motives, loyalties, and the true cost of power. It explores what happens when a woman is forced to bind herself to the man she blames for her destruction-and discovers that the truth is far more complicated than she was ever allowed to see. In a world where appearances are currency and silence is survival, Ariella must decide: remain a victim of Lucien Blackwood's shadow, or learn how to stand beside him without losing herself.
