Chapter 3

On our wedding night, Willow gave me ovulation injections that were over the prescribed dosage. I felt abdominal pain due to the overdose, but Chase ignored that and took me more than ten times.

The two of them couldn't wait for me to get pregnant. They bought me all kinds of traditional medicine that would aid pregnancy and told me to take care of my health.

In my past life, I had not known that Chase had asthenozoospermia. I had thought that he genuinely liked children, so I had obediently taken all the medicine they gave me no matter how bitter it tasted.

This time, I poured all the medicine into a flowerpot and took out my phone. I arranged for six hot-blooded male models to come.

In my past life, I spent every single day getting injections and taking medicine so that I could get pregnant. Meanwhile, Chase went through an endless string of women behind my back.

He spent his time with all kinds of women during the day and came back at night to try to impregnate me.

Luckily, he was generous and gave me plenty of money, but he didn't bother about anything else.

That was why in this life, he didn't discover what I was doing with the six male models.

During the day, I enjoyed myself thoroughly in bed with the models, who were all full of energy. I complied with Chase at night out of necessity.

I also sent Willow WhatsApp messages to rile her up. The day after that, she married a wealthy 70-year-old man.

Everyone tried to persuade her not to take her own happiness so lightly, but she didn't care. She even announced that she would bear a healthy baby for her husband.

Everyone laughed and said that she was crazy.

However, I knew she needed to get married. If I got pregnant, the fetuses would be transferred to her womb at once.

If she were unmarried, she wouldn't be able to explain who the father of her child was.

She had been planning to seduce Chase at first, but he was always surrounded by beautiful women. Besides, he showed no interest in her at all. She had no choice but to resort to other methods, so she decided on a rich old man who was no longer able to reproduce.

I couldn't be bothered with her tricks. Every day, all I did was visit Grandma and enjoy myself with the male models I was paying for.

Four months later, Chase brought a doctor to examine me.

Willow came because she was nosy.

When Chase heard the doctor say that I wasn't pregnant, his expression turned as black as thunder, and he began cursing at me at once. "I gave you so many ovulation injections! Why is your womb so useless? I married you and spent money on you, but that wasn't so that you could just be a rich housewife!"

When Willow saw him scolding me, she turned up her nose in triumph.

She glanced scornfully at me and rubbed her own stomach with a loving look on her face. She said in a syrupy-sweet tone, "Callista, everyone in your family is so fertile. Why are you the exception?

"My husband is already 70 years old, but I still succeeded in getting pregnant. You, on the other hand, aren't even showing any signs despite all your efforts over such a long period of time."

I looked up. She had only been married to the old man for four months, but her stomach looked as if she were already eight months pregnant.

I suppressed a smile and pretended to look upset as I said, "I don't know what's happening. It's my fault for having such a useless womb!"

Willow became even more gleeful when she saw how defeated I was. She continued to criticize me.

"Pregnancy is also based on luck. Maybe you're just unlucky, unlike me. I think I'm destined to have plenty of children. Mr. Grayson, you and Callista shouldn't be discouraged. I'm sure she'll get pregnant next time!"

Chase was frustrated to see Willow's bulging belly.

He didn't want to admit that he was even less potent than a 70-year-old man, so he pushed all the blame onto me.

"Callista, I gave you so many home remedies for having children. Why is Willow doing better than you? Tell me! Haven't you been taking your medicine diligently?"

I shook my head hastily to deny it.

Chase gave me an ultimatum.

"I'm warning you, Callista. If you still can't get pregnant within the two years of our trial marriage, don't even think about marrying me!"

Ariella Quinn never imagined that survival would come with a wedding ring. Once, her life was quiet. Ordinary. Safe. Then her family's name was dragged into a scandal they did not create, their finances collapsed overnight, and every door that once opened to them slammed shut. Behind it all stood one name-Blackwood. A name whispered with fear, respect, and power. A name Ariella learned to hate without ever seeing the face behind it. Lucien Blackwood is not a man who explains himself. As a billionaire with influence that stretches far beyond boardrooms, he is known for control, precision, and results-no matter the cost. When Ariella is summoned under the pretense of a legal negotiation, she expects humiliation. What she doesn't expect is a contract that will change the course of her life forever. Marriage. Cold. Legal. Non-negotiable. Lucien offers protection, financial security, and silence in exchange for one thing: her name beside his. To the public, it will look like a fortunate match. To Ariella, it is a cage built by the very man whose decisions ruined her family. Refusal is not an option. Acceptance feels like surrender. Their marriage is not born of love, attraction, or trust. It is built on resentment, fear, and secrets deliberately left unexplained. Lucien keeps his distance, enforcing rules rather than affection. Ariella enters his world surrounded by luxury that feels more like surveillance than comfort. Guards watch her movements. Strangers know her schedule. Danger lingers just beneath the surface. And the worst part? No one will tell her why. As threats begin to surface and pieces of the past refuse to stay buried, Ariella realizes that her "ruin" may not have been accidental. The marriage that destroyed her freedom may also be the only thing keeping her alive. Every answer Lucien withholds deepens her anger-and her curiosity. Every moment of forced proximity tightens the tension between them. This is a slow-burn romance driven by emotional restraint, power imbalance, and psychological conflict. Love does not arrive easily. Trust is hard-won. And forgiveness may be more dangerous than hatred. Married to the Man Who Ruined Me is a gripping billionaire romance that blends contract marriage, suspense, and emotional depth. With carefully paced revelations and chapter-ending cliffhangers, the story keeps readers questioning motives, loyalties, and the true cost of power. It explores what happens when a woman is forced to bind herself to the man she blames for her destruction-and discovers that the truth is far more complicated than she was ever allowed to see. In a world where appearances are currency and silence is survival, Ariella must decide: remain a victim of Lucien Blackwood's shadow, or learn how to stand beside him without losing herself.
