Reborn: I Matched Two Scoundrels
Chapter 3
Back then, Yvonne's foolishness had left me disfigured and bleeding out on the floor.
Now, though, I had decided to let her and her cheating husband stay together. I'd let her see Julian's true colors for herself.
Whatever happened afterward wouldn't be my problem.
That night, I stayed over at our parents' house. I couldn't help but smile when I heard the noise coming from her room.
The next morning, I teased Julian, "Busy, huh? It didn't sound like you were lacking energy last night. You two kept me up half the night."
Yvonne instantly turned red. Julian hid his face, embarrassed.
Before I left, Yvonne grabbed my arm. "Thanks, Xena. Your suggestion really worked. Julian was like a possessed man last night. But he said that the pill shouldn't be taken often. He doesn't seem too willing to try it again."
I encouraged her, saying, "You're not asking for anything unreasonable. You're his wife; it's normal. Besides, you're doing this for a baby. If he won't take it, just slip it into his food or drink."
Yvonne was convinced.
As for me, the moment I returned to the office, I started working on a transfer application to one of the overseas branches.
I made sure to come home for dinner every night to keep an eye on Yvonne and Julian. Yvonne couldn't stop bragging about her perfect marriage. "Julian's so drained, he doesn't even have the energy for business trips anymore. It's great. At this rate, I'll be pregnant in no time."
I told her to post more on social media to show off her sweet married life. She couldn't resist and did as told. Every day, she would post either about how much she loved Julian or how much Julian adored her. She even hinted at what happened in the bedroom in some of her captions.
Time passed, and Yvonne asked me to go to the hospital with her. Sure enough, she was pregnant. Everything was going according to my plan.
"Good news calls for a proper celebration. As your sister, I'll make sure it's done in style," I said with a fake smile.
Over dinner, I deliberately brought it up with Julian. "You should invite all your coworkers. We have to share the news with everyone."
"I don't think we need to invite them. It's a private matter…" he hesitated.
I pressed him, asking, "Why do you sound like you don't want them to find out that Yvonne's pregnant?"
I remembered how, in my past life, Tristan had thrown their love in Yvonne's face. He said Julian only ever loved him and that she was the real homewrecker. He had even mocked her, shouting, "Julian doesn't want kids with you because he loves me. He can't even stand touching you!"
Yvonne had fainted on the spot.
That was when I realized that Tristan wasn't a pushover. Now, I wanted Julian's affair to go up in flames.
Julian forced a smile. "You're overthinking it. I just don't want to waste your money."
Yvonne kissed his cheek and said, "Oh, honey. You're always so considerate."
"Julian's so thoughtful. He'll be a wonderful father," my parents chimed in.
I waved it off, making it clear that money wasn't a problem. I was just happy to do it for my sister.
"Yvonne has wanted this for so long. Now that all the tests have come back normal, I want to share this happiness with the whole world."
Since I was footing the bill, no one objected. Not even Julian.
Later, I spoke to Yvonne in private. "While I do trust Julian, I have to look out for you as a sister. It's only natural that other women might try to throw themselves at a man as outstanding as he is. Plus, you'll be tied down for months with the pregnancy."
Men cheating on their wives while they were pregnant happened all the time.
Yvonne's expression grew tense. "You're right. What should I do?"
"Why don't you visit his office yourself? Invite every last one of his coworkers. That way, everyone knows he has a pregnant wife waiting at home. A little social pressure should keep him in check."
I even offered to tag along so that I wouldn't miss the show.
Yvonne was over the moon, praising me for being a genius.
…
On the big day, we stepped into Julian's office. Tristan was practically glued to him, whispering in his ear. If it weren't for all the people around, Julian's hand would've already been all over him.
I leaned over and whispered to Yvonne, "Sneak up on him and cover his eyes. Give him a surprise."
My love-struck sister lit up at the idea.
