Chapter 7

Have you ever loved my mother?

Ailina’s POV:

I wanted to talk about this matter with Dad. But apparently, he was not in the mood to listen to my explanation. It seemed that he had come here to talk about something else.

As expected, he sighed, saying, “Ailina, your mother has passed away for several years and I have been single for a long time now. I am old and need a company. Aunt Susan and I can get along with each other. Well, we want to get married, but your grandfather has disagreed with us all along. Ailina, Grandfather always takes your advice. Would you please help me to persuade him?”

Hearing his words, I looked up at him. “Dad, have you ever loved my mother?” I asked.

“How can I know what love is at that age? I just want to get along with your aunt.” He said, frowning.

Hearing that I could not help but laugh. “Dad, Hallie is only one year younger than me. Is she your biological daughter too?”

“Why do you say that?” He asked. His face clouded as he coughed softly.

‘Why? Of course, because Susan is an unpromising mistress!

As mom has gone, I had to guard her home for her. Now that mistress has entered the house I a, not able to drive them out yet. But one day I must drive Hallie and Susan away!

But of course, I could not say this to my father now.

After I drank the whole soup, I said weakly, “Dad, I mean, it’s only been a few years since Mom died, but Hallie is just one year younger than me. You are an adult’s affairs are so complicated that I can’t understand it and control it. Dad, you had better ask grandpa.”

Saying that I handed the empty ball to him, smiling innocently.

George POV:

Hearing her words, my face turned red, and I suddenly felt flustered. I felt that there was something else in her words.

However, if she had blamed me straightforwardly, I could still use my majesty to scare her, but with her words, there was nothing I could do about it.

I took a bowl and coughed unnaturally.

“Ailina go to bed early. Don’t play on the computer too late!”

Then, I took the empty bowl and walked out of her room.

Standing in front of her pink and tender room’s door, I signed. I didn’t know why, but I felt that my daughter had suddenly grown up.

I feel estranged and depressed while talking with her.

When I return to my bedroom, Susan has been waiting for me.

As soon as she saw me, she asked, “How’s it going? What did Ailina say?”

“I think she has changed. She seemed to understand everything in her mind. Oh, she knows that Hallie is our child.” I said, frowning.

“Did she blame you?” She asked.

I shook my head, “No, but there must be something wrong in her heart. She wouldn’t help us!”

The next morning, seeing Ailina coming downstairs, Susan walked over enthusiastically, saying, “Ailina, today I made your favorite sandwich. Come and eat.”

Ailina smiled slightly and sat down.

Seeing that Susan busily bought a sandwich for her and poured her a glass of juice.

“Thank you!” she said politely.

Then, Susan quickly picked another egg and handed it to her. “Here it is. Ailina, eat an egg to supplement your nutrition.”

“Thank you, Aunt!”

Ailina had a faint expression on her face.

Seeing this, Susan took a deep breath and said, “Ailina, I fell downstairs yesterday. It was really scary. I didn’t see it clearly and misunderstood you.”

Ailina finished eating the egg as her lips curled up in a smile.

“Aunt, the point is not getting me wrong, but the pillow under your clothes!” she said.

“Ailina, I was helpless. Your grandpa didn’t agree with me and your father, so I took an unwise step….” Susan said, sobbing.

“Aunt, you don’t have to explain to me. You should explain to Dad and grandpa. After all, you are not pregnant with my son or my grandson.” Ailina said as she stood up.

To be honest, there was nothing wrong with Ailina’s words, but it was unpleasant to hear. I frowned. “How could you talk to your aunt like that? What's son or grandson?”

She smiled sweetly. “Dad, you have been taking care of your unborn son for several months, and suddenly it turned into a pillow. Didn’t you feel furious? Well, I do not expect that my dad is so open-minded.”

“Ailina…” I shouted. My face turned red with anger, but I could not contradict her.

“I have finished. Help yourself!” Saying that she went upstairs.
