My Husband Chose My Sister Over Me
My Husband Chose My Sister Over Me Chapter 1
My brother-in-law totally wrecked Thanksgiving dinner by playing a video that blew the lid off my twin sister Naya's cheating—making her infamous for all the wrong reasons. When my parents confronted him, he just scoffed and said, 'Your daughter lives off my dime and cheats on me. Doesn't she deserve to be called out?'
A voice from the crowd shouted, 'The woman in the video isn't Naya. It's Eliana.' You could hear a pin drop. 'Eliana? Naya's twin sister?'
'She's sleeping with her own sister's assistant while framing her sibling. What kind of monster does that?'
My parents nodded, sounding resigned. 'We know airing our dirty laundry isn't ideal, but we can't just stand by and watch our eldest daughter's life fall apart.'
Even my husband, Kayden Sanchez, stood up and pointed a finger at me. Three accusations, and my own brother-in-law sided with Naya. Within half an hour, the headlines were all about me.
That day, I got slammed with hate from total strangers online. The company wasted no time announcing my firing. When people found out I had been pregnant once, the mockery got even crueler. 'Must've been some bastard kid.'
The memories hit me like a freight train. Kayden had once asked me, point-blank, 'Naya hasn't even gotten pregnant yet, and your sister already has?' The very next day, I had a tragic fall—and lost my baby.
Now, my husband and my parents had once again sacrificed me on Naya's altar. While they waited for me to show up, Kayden barraged me with threats: 'Come out and confess, or I'll make your life a living hell.'
But here I was, right next to him, laughing bitterly. 'You got your wish. I'm already dead.'
Three days ago, they dumped me on some godforsaken hill in the Alps to 'reflect on my actions.' 'When you realize your mistake, we'll come back for you.' That's what they said.
Three full days passed. Forgotten. I froze to death. When I opened my eyes, my soul was standing among them. Kayden was still trying to reach me.
He demanded I come back. My mom said, 'We dislike you because of your disgraceful behavior.' My dad added, 'You've got one day to show up, or I'll make sure you regret it—big time.'
Watching them scramble to track me down, I couldn't help but laugh. It's true—the unloved are always to blame, no matter what they do.
Fast forward to now. My parents, realizing I wasn't picking up, quickly suggested, 'Eliana must be too scared to answer. We should question the other person in the video.'
Beckham Washington, my brother-in-law, thought about it for a second, then sent someone to grab Naya's assistant. I had only met Moises Garcia once, and he was with Naya at the time. I frowned, remembering.
'Naya, do you even remember you're married?' But Naya just brushed it off. 'I do whatever I want.'
'Moises, who was the woman you were with?' Moises answered calmly, 'It was Eliana. Why?'
His words were gasoline on a fire, and the insults against me exploded. Kayden dropped to his knees, anguish all over his face. 'I love her so much—how could she betray me like this?'
'Wait, what? You two aren't divorced? But she told me you were. I wasn't cheating—we were just dating normally,' Moises said, panic creeping into his voice.
His words sent the outrage into overdrive, and I just stood there speechless. Once the mob decides you're guilty, the accusations keep piling on. Now I'm painted as some conniving woman, scheming against Moises, while Beckham and Naya make up.
In that whole public mess, my reputation was the only body count. As my parents left, they nudged Kayden. 'Keep an eye on Eliana. Don't let her stir up more trouble.'
'Don't worry. I won't let Eliana ruin Naya's marriage,' Kayden promised as he saw them off.
He tried my number again. Phone off. So he fired off more furious texts. 'You dare turn off your phone, Eliana? You really think I won't do something?'
I let out a deep sigh. 'Kayden, do you even call yourself human? You took my phone—even if I were alive, I couldn't answer. How dare you blame me?' I rambled on, but of course nobody could hear.
Eventually, I saw Kayden show up at my friend Ariana Boyd's place. A chill slithered down my spine.
Ariana met him at the door, face like ice. 'What do you want?'
'Where's Eliana?'
'How would I know? I can't reach her either. Honestly, I'm starting to think you've got her locked up somewhere!' Ariana snapped, clearly ticked off. Her anger made my stomach clench.
'Ariana, don't fight with Kayden because of me—he's not worth it,' I worried, afraid he'd lash out at her.
Kayden used to always needle me: 'Why are you so tight with Ariana when you have a twin sister? Seems like you and Naya don't get along.'
I opened up to Kayden plenty of times about how my parents always favored Naya. At first, he took my side. But bit by bit, his tune changed.
He started pushing back whenever I complained about Naya. 'Honestly, I think Naya's pretty nice. Maybe it's your personality that's the problem? Why else would your parents treat you different?'
If he caught the hurt on my face, he'd just laugh it off. 'Relax, I'm just kidding.'
Maybe back then, I should've seen that Kayden was changing. But hindsight's a bitch that never fixes anything.
'I don't care where Eliana is. Just tell her she has to hold a press conference within a few days and own up to everything, or I'm divorcing her. End of story.'
'Then just file the damn papers already! I've never seen a man trash his own wife to defend his sister-in-law,' Ariana shot back.
Kayden stormed off, empty-handed. In the days that followed, with me still a ghost, he kept playing the wounded protector. But Naya stayed completely unrepentant.
