Raising The Ruthless Billionaire's Stolen Heir Summary
My husband forced me to sign divorce papers over my supposed infertility, so I left New York with nothing and adopted an abandoned baby boy named Leo. For four years, we lived in peace—until a fleet of black SUVs surrounded my apartment. Damien Montgomery, a ruthless billionaire, threw a DNA test at my feet, insisting Leo is his stolen heir. His bodyguards dragged us to his fortress estate, and the trauma left Leo fighting for his life in the hospital. There, I ran into my ex-husband and his new wife, holding a boy nearly four years old. Divorced exactly four years ago for being "barren," the math was impossible. My infertility was a calculated lie. Now, caught between a tyrant trying to take my son and the truth of my past, I'm done being manipulated—and I'm ready to make them all pay.

Raising The Ruthless Billionaire's Stolen Heir Chapter 1

"Just sign it, Deana."

The lawyer's voice was smooth. Polished. Like the mahogany table between them.

Deana Porter stared at the line of text. It felt like a physical blow, knocking the air from her lungs.

Divorce granted on the grounds of the wife's infertility.

Infertility. The word was cold. Clinical. A brand stamped onto the end of her four-year marriage.

Across the table, Evan wouldn't look at her. His gaze was fixed on a spot on the wall just over her shoulder. His fingers nervously adjusted his rimless glasses, pushing them higher up the bridge of his nose. It was a small, familiar gesture. The one he always made when he was guilty.

"Evan." Her voice was a raw whisper. "Please. Look at me."

He flinched but didn't obey.

The lawyer, a man whose name she couldn't remember, cleared his throat. He tapped the signature line with the tip of a gold-plated pen. A sharp, impatient sound in the suffocating silence of the conference room.

"Ms. Porter, we don't have all day."

Deana picked up the pen. It felt impossibly heavy in her hand. Her fingertips were numb, ice-cold. Flashes of their life together flickered through her mind. Laughing in their tiny first apartment. Painting the walls of the house they bought. The way he used to hold her at night, whispering plans for the future.

All of it felt like a movie about someone else's life.

"Is there really no other way?" she asked, her last shred of hope clinging to his answer.

Evan's lips parted. For a second, she thought he might finally say something real. Something from the man she married.

Instead, he ducked his head, the familiar excuse tumbling out, weak and practiced.

"I'm sorry, Deana. My mother... she just wants grandchildren."

That was it. The final cut. Her heart, which had been aching, simply went still. A cold, heavy weight settled in her chest.

She didn't hesitate any longer.

The pen moved across the paper. The ink was black and final. Deana Porter. Her name, stripped of his.

She placed the pen down gently on the table. The click was soft, but it echoed like a gunshot.

Without another glance at Evan, she stood up. Her movements were graceful, almost serene. She walked towards the door, her heels making no sound on the thick carpet.

As she passed his chair, she felt him shift. A small, aborted movement. The ghost of a touch he didn't have the courage to make.

She pulled the heavy door open and stepped into the hallway.

The door clicked shut behind her, sealing her away from that life.

She leaned against the cool, marble wall, dragging in a shaky breath. She would not cry. Not here.

Her left hand felt strangely light. She looked down at the simple gold band on her ring finger. A circle meant to mean forever.

Slowly, she twisted it off. The skin underneath was pale, a faint indentation marking the place it had occupied for four years. A ghost of a promise.

She slipped the ring into the pocket of her coat, a small, cold weight against her hip. A piece of her past, buried.

She walked to the elevators and pressed the down button. The doors slid open, and her reflection stared back at her from the mirrored walls. A stranger with hollow eyes and a pale face.

Outside, the New York wind hit her like a slap, sharp and unforgiving. It cleared some of the fog from her head.

She found her car in the parking garage, the engine turning over with a familiar rumble. She sat behind the wheel, hands gripping the cold leather, with nowhere to go. Her home was no longer her home.

Her phone buzzed in her purse. A text message.

It was from Mrs. Price. Her now ex-mother-in-law.

"Deana, I hope you'll be able to get your personal things out of the house today. Amber is moving in tomorrow."

The words blurred. Nausea rose in her throat, hot and bitter.

Amber.

So, it was all arranged. A neat little transition. All they needed was her signature to make it official.

The humiliation was a physical thing, a fire spreading through her veins. The grief she'd been holding back twisted into pure, cold rage.

She started the car.

She didn't drive towards the house she had shared with Evan. She couldn't.

Instead, she turned onto the ramp for the highway, heading out of the city. Away from everything.

Her hands were shaking as she pulled out her phone and dialed the only person she could.

"Jess?" Her voice cracked.

"Dee? What's wrong? You sound awful."

"It's done, Jess," she said, the words tasting like ash. "I'm divorced."

Jessica's gasp was followed by a string of curses directed at Evan and his mother.

"I'm not going back to the house," Deana said, her voice flat. "I'm leaving New York. Tonight."

"What? Deana, wait. Don't do anything crazy. Come to my place."

But Deana's mind was made up. There was nothing left for her here.

"I can't," she said. "I just... I have to go."

She ended the call before Jessica could argue further. Then, she turned her phone off completely, severing the last tie to her old life.

She pressed her foot down on the accelerator. The car surged forward, merging into the river of red taillights flowing into the darkness.

The glittering skyline of Manhattan receded in her rearview mirror, until it was just a distant, indifferent glow.
