Chapter 1

A homecoming banquet was organized for my wealthy boyfriend’s first love. At the banquet, he forced me to drink an entire glass of Whisky, even though I was pregnant, just to make his first love happy.

My abdomen was in excruciating pain, and blood was seeping through my white dress.

He kissed his first love in front of me as his friends cheered him on.

As I was losing consciousness, I heard a cold remark.

“Ignore her. She’s just a mistress. She won’t be able to live without me.”

When I woke up in the hospital, I caressed my flat stomach and wanted to send him a photo of the medical report detailing my miscarriage.

However, I realized that his profile picture had been changed to a photo of his first love’s side profile. He even blocked me again.

However, this time, I did not beg him as I had in the past.

Instead, I booked a flight ticket to leave the country.

I had just reached home when I heard a loud noise.

Ivy Anderson was standing in the middle of a mess of porcelain shards, and she immediately teared up when she saw me.

She then cried and threw herself into Liam White’s embrace.

“I didn’t mean to drop it, but Olivia looked so angry. She looked like an old witch…

“I got scared.”

The item she dropped was the first present Liam had bought me.

It was a porcelain doll that he personally crafted for me.

Liam caressed Ivy’s hair comfortingly with loving eyes. He used to dote on me like that.

“Don’t worry. It’s just a doll. I’ll smash it with you.”

He bent down, picked up the doll’s head, and smashed it forcefully against the floor.

The porcelain shards smashed into smaller pieces.

The doll was unsalvageable.

Ivy was delighted as she clapped and laughed.

My hands started to tremble.

Back then, when he gave this doll to me, Liam pinched my face with a smug expression.

“This is the first time I’ve made something like this for a woman I’m seeing.

“I’ll break up with you if anything happens to this doll!”

However, he was the one who ended up breaking it.

I expected this of him, though. After all, he was willing to sacrifice our child just to make Ivy smile.

I grimaced and started to sweep the pieces away with a broom.

Suddenly, Ivy coughed.

Liam asked anxiously, “Are you alright? Did you hurt your throat from all the crying?

“Olivia, you made Ivy cry! Hurry up and make her a cup of her favorite mango juice.”

I paused in disbelief.

“Have you forgotten that I’m allergic to mango?”

Liam’s expression froze. He did not dare to look at me out of guilt.

Then he turned his attention to the beautiful woman in his arms as they flirted with each other.

I swept the pieces away and tossed them into the trash along with the last bit of longing in my heart.

At the same time, I heard Ivy’s sugary sweet voice.

“I’ll head off first. Wait for me in the hotel tomorrow. It’s the same one as last night.”

Liam glanced at me subconsciously.

He explained stiffly, “Ivy and I are lifelong friends. I’m just catching up with her. Don’t overthink it.”

I did not bother to expose his lies.

I pretended that I did not see the hickeys on his neck.

Ivy waved goodbye to Liam shyly.

I immediately noticed the bracelet around her wrist.

Three years ago, Liam got involved in a car accident because he was trying to protect me. As a result, he ended up in a coma.

I searched high and low for a good luck charm. After a difficult period of searching, I finally bought that bracelet.

After Liam woke up, he teared up from my gesture. He pulled me into a tight hug.

“I’ll wear this bracelet forever, and we’ll never be apart!”

However, he had gifted that bracelet to another person.

I turned away from them as he lovingly bid goodbye to Ivy. I turned around and went to the master bedroom to pack my bags for my overseas trip.

However, when I entered the room, I immediately saw that the photo of Liam and me had disappeared from the wall.

In its place was one of Ivy’s paintings.

It was the same painting shown on Liam’s phone screen saver.

It turned out that throughout the years when Ivy was away, Liam had never forgotten about her.

However, it had nothing to do with me anymore.

I switched on my phone and set a reminder for my flight.

Suddenly, a news article popped up in my phone’s notification bar.

[Liam White Appears on a Reality Dating Show, and It Seems Like He’ll Propose to Ivy Anderson Soon.]

In the video, Liam and Ivy were kissing passionately.

That was why he had not checked on me, though I had been hospitalized for an entire day due to my miscarriage.

It turned out that he was busy making out with Ivy.

I recalled last year when the paparazzi took photos of us on a trip.

In order to stay out of the public eye, he blocked me and gave me the silent treatment for a month.

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it-she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother's trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent-or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father's entire empire.
