One Million to Disappear Chapter 1

I accidentally spent the night with a wealthy heiress from Kingscourt after she was drugged.

The next morning, I panicked and slipped away before she woke up.

The following day, her childhood friend came to find me. He handed me a check for one million dollars and told me to leave the country.

My eyes practically lit up.

Just as I was about to take the check, I suddenly heard his thoughts.

"Once he accepts the money, I'll report him for extortion and send him straight to prison.

"Then I'll tell Valerie Cooper that I was the man from that night, marry into the family myself, and let him rot in jail."

A chill ran down my spine.

Well, he should've said so earlier.

I can still tell the difference between one million dollars... and a lifetime of wealth and luxury.

When I did not take the check, Tristan Blake urged impatiently, "Hurry up and take it."

I pulled my hand back. "I thought about it. Taking someone else's money for no reason doesn't feel right."

The expression on Tristan's face stiffened for a second before he forced out another smile.

"Not enough?

"I'll add another million. Leave right now."

I stood up and opened the door.

"My house doesn't welcome you. Please leave."

The next second, I heard his inner thoughts through gritted teeth.

'What the hell is wrong with this b*stard? Don't tell me he thinks two million still isn't enough? Poor trash like him is always greedy.

'Whatever. Sooner or later, he'll spit every cent back out.'

He looked at me with open contempt.

"Fine then. Name your price."

I rejected him coldly. "No matter how much you offer, I'm not taking it."

Tristan's face flushed red with anger.

"Don't be so ungrateful! Once the Cooper family finds you, you're dead. I'm trying to help you!"

Help me?

More like kill me so he could impersonate me and marry Valerie Cooper himself.

I was just about to speak when a wave of hurried footsteps echoed from the stairwell. A moment later, dozens of bodyguards appeared in front of me all at once.

Holy sh*t.

I had only ever seen scenes like this in TV dramas.

The middle-aged man leading them looked at me and said respectfully, "Mr. Whitmore, our young miss would like to see you. Please come with us."

Before I could answer, Tristan leaned close to my ear and whispered urgently, "Don't go with them. If you do, you'll never come back."

The memory of my horrible death in my previous life sent a chill down my spine.

There was no way I was stupid enough to trust him again.

I turned to the middle-aged man and said, "I'm willing to go with you."

Tristan lunged at me like he had gone insane, trying to grab my arm, but I dodged him immediately.

"I don't know you. Stop interfering in my business."

Then I left with them.

Behind me, Tristan stomped his feet in frustration and jealousy.

They brought me to a luxurious villa.

My family had always been poor. I had never seen this kind of wealth growing up, so even after stepping into the magnificent living room, my mind still felt dazed.

Valerie sat on the sofa wearing a wine-red dress that perfectly outlined her figure. Her temperament was cold and distant, almost untouchable.

She lifted her eyes and looked at me indifferently.

"The person who entered my room last night was you?"

I nodded hard.

"Yes. It was me."

In my previous life, after taking Tristan's check, I lied to Valerie and denied everything.

Tristan stepped forward and claimed he was the one who had entered her room. Valerie believed him completely. Not long after, they got married.

As for me, I died with my eyes still open in resentment.

Valerie looked at me calmly.

"What happened last night was an accident. But I'll take responsibility for it.

"One month from now, we'll hold the wedding.

"You'll marry into the Cooper family."

The moment Tristan walked in, he heard those words.

His expression twisted so badly it looked like his lungs were about to explode from rage.

However, I had no time to care about him.

My entire mind was consumed by one thought:

Valerie was really going to marry me.

The thoughts I heard were real.

In my previous life, Tristan killed me before I even had the chance to learn the truth.

But this time, I was going to marry Valerie and become the live-in son-in-law of a wealthy family.

Meanwhile, Tristan kept desperately signaling at me with his eyes, trying to get me to refuse her.
