Chapter 1

On our wedding night, my CEO wife’s assistant barged into the bridal suite with a crowd behind him.

He wrapped an arm around her waist and grinned in front of all the guests.

“I've gotta thank Shawn for being so generous. Over the past year, Chloe and I tried all 1,000 positions in the Karma Sutra, won a $10,000,000 bonus, and even ended up with a baby.

“Don’t feel too bad, Shawn, even if all you got was one dollar.

“And of course, I should thank my future in-laws and everyone here for thinking so highly of me. Tonight, I’ll definitely make sure Chloe has the time of her life on our wedding night.”

The room fell silent.

No one said a word. Even my father-in-law, who always claimed he treated me like his own son, lowered his head and avoided my eyes.

Chloe glanced at me and said casually, “He’s young and insecure. He just wants to spend the wedding night with me. That’s all.

“Jason even gave me his first time because he wanted this baby so badly. I have to take responsibility for him.”

My heart instantly turned ice-cold.

I finally understood why she had given me that envelope with a single dollar in it.

I made my decision as I looked at the woman before me, who suddenly felt like a complete stranger.

I did not want her anymore.

Chloe Hayes noticed my expression darken and gently cupped my face.

“Shawn, even if you didn’t get my first time, it doesn’t matter. You’ll always be my most beloved husband.

“Since you already know about me and Jason, just stay nearby tonight while we consummate our marriage. After he’s finished, you can have your turn.”

I looked at Chloe in disbelief. I had loved with all my heart for ten years, and for the first time, it felt like I was looking at a complete stranger.

Forcing down the bitterness in my chest, I replied, “Whatever.”

Chloe smiled in satisfaction and leaned in to kiss me.

My stomach churned violently as a wave of nausea rose.

Just as I was about to step back, Jason Wade pulled her into his arms.

His hand gripped Chloe’s curves as they kissed deeply in front of everyone.

Their lips pressed together, their breath mingling as they kissed deeply.

“Chloe, I can’t wait any longer. Can we go to bed now?”

“You always keep me busy the entire night.”

Chloe let out a soft laugh as she returned his kiss, then turned to look at me. Her tone carried a hint of helplessness.

“Young men have strong urges. It’s hard to hold back. I’ll go to the bedroom with Jason first.

“Honey, remember to make some soup later. Don’t let Jason go hungry after we’re done.”

She gave the order so naturally, as though I were nothing more than an old servant of hers.

Without another glance at me, she took Jason’s hand and walked quickly into the master bedroom.

The mocking stares around me felt like needles stabbing my entire body.

I stood frozen. My chest was tight and aching.

Chloe and I grew up together.

Back when she said she wanted to start a business, I quit a job that paid over $1 million a year without hesitation to help her realize her dream.

I joined her company and threw myself into endless work and networking.

In the end, it took three stomach bleeds and two collapses to help her build the Hayes Corporation into what it was today.

Once, she said she loved the soup I made her.

After that, no matter how urgent the project was, I insisted on delivering it to her every single day, wind and rain be damned.

People in the company even mocked me as a gold-digger trying to climb the ranks.

Now, I realized that Jason was probably the one who loved drinking that soup all along.

Four years ago, Jason was just a broke student who could not even afford tuition.

He knelt in front of me with red eyes, begging desperately for my help. I softened and funded his education.

I paid off his $30 million in online loan debt and personally gave him an internship position at Hayes Corporation.

He used the resources I gave him to sleep with my wife and humiliate me in public.

After hastily dismissing the guests, I sent a message to my lawyer.

[Draft a divorce agreement for me. I’m going to take back the core technology patents and go abroad with my sister, Vivian, to get away from all of this.]

Just after I sent it, Vivian walked up from behind and nudged my arm.

“What are you standing there for? Go prepare dinner! Jason has a weak stomach. He can’t go hungry!”

I shuddered violently, as though ice water had been poured over me.

I slowly turned around and stared at her.

“You already knew Chloe was cheating?”

“Cheating? Chloe and Jason are in love.

“Jason is so considerate, too. He takes me shopping and to beauty salons. He’s so much better than you!”

Her eyes lit up whenever she mentioned Jason, while there was only disgust in them when she looked at me.

“Chloe is even pregnant with Jason’s child now. She’s happier than ever. If you ask me, you’re the third wheel in their marriage!”
