My Revenge Began When I Exposed Their Lies
My Revenge Began When I Exposed Their Lies Chapter 1
As the wedding ceremony drew to a close, a group of armed men suddenly stormed the hall. My fiancé, Calvin, instinctively shielded Teresa behind him. Before I could even process what was happening, someone clamped a hand over my mouth and dragged me into an abandoned warehouse.
They restrained me, intent on taking my kidney. A sharp pain shot through my right side, and all I could do was struggle helplessly as blood pooled beneath me. Once the assailants left, Calvin burst in, finding me sprawled on the floor, drenched in blood. In a frantic rush, he called for an ambulance. My father clenched his jaw, determined to report the crime to the authorities.
I was taken to the hospital, barely conscious, when I overheard them talking. "With this kidney, Teresa's surgery can be scheduled sooner," Calvin's voice echoed, cutting through my hazy mind.
My father sighed heavily. "Emory's health has always been frail. Now, missing a kidney, she’ll likely suffer for her entire life."
"Please, sir, don’t blame yourself," Calvin continued. "Teresa is your daughter and my rescuer. We have to save her, no matter the cost. Once her surgery is a success, I'll marry Emory again and spend my life making it up to her."
Their words hit like a ton of bricks. The woman Calvin cherished, his so-called childhood friend, was actually my father’s long-hidden illegitimate daughter. The wedding I had dreamt of was nothing but a carefully orchestrated trap by the two people I loved most.
The knife’s blade twisted cruelly in my abdomen, and the warmth of my blood soaked through the wedding dress, spreading into a dark pool beneath me. The pain chewed relentlessly at my nerves, and I curled up on the floor as my consciousness slipped.
When Calvin broke the door down, I was barely hanging on. He rushed over, panic-stricken at the sight of me covered in blood. "Emory," he implored, "the ambulance is coming. You have to hold on!"
His voice was like a flicker of light in the dark, offering a glimmer of hope. I bit down, the taste of blood thick in my mouth, and summoned all my strength to respond, but managed only a weak whimper.
Time seemed to crawl. The antiseptic smell stung my nose, pulling me back to consciousness, but my eyelids felt like lead.
Calvin's voice echoed in my ears. "With this kidney, Teresa's surgery can be scheduled sooner."
A shiver ran through me, disbelief surging. Then my father sighed. "Emory's health has always been fragile. Missing a kidney, she's bound to suffer for life."
"Please, sir, don’t blame yourself. Teresa is your daughter, and my savior. It’s right to save her," Calvin reassured him. "Once her surgery is successful, I’ll remarry Emory and dedicate my life to making amends."
Their conversation shattered what little strength I had left. It was all a carefully laid plan. The kidnappers who took my kidney had been sent by the very people I loved most. My head throbbed as the truth sank in.
Calvin had once confided that his parents died when he was young and that Teresa's mother took him in, saving him. He had treated Teresa as his own sister, always showering her with care. I had accepted this "sister" into our lives, never imagining she was my father's hidden daughter.
With my heart shattered and trust destroyed, I plunged into a deep, chilling void. The dual betrayal from love and family left me reeling. In a haze, the butler, Ricardo, rushed in to report, "Sir, Miss Teresa is very upset. Her emotional state is unstable."
Before the words even registered, Calvin was on his feet. "I’ll go to her right now," he exclaimed.
"I’ll come with you," my father replied urgently. "We can't let anything happen to Teresa!"
In an instant, they rushed from the room, leaving me alone. Overwhelming grief engulfed me, and a surge of blood erupted from my mouth, staining the sheets.
Tears mixed with blood trailed to my lips as I clutched the bed linens, my nails digging deep into my palms. This couldn’t be real. The man who swore to love me forever and the father who'd cherished me—how could they use my wedding as bait to steal my kidney? How could they be so heartless?
There had to be some mistake…
