Chapter 1
That year, my hatred for Chloe Lynn burned hotter than ever.
Chloe, to shield her assistant Miles Benedict, had my dog-my companion for a decade-brutally killed.
To settle the score, I drove a blade into Miles five times, savoring his unhinged screams like they were a masterpiece.
Everyone thought Chloe would end me.
Instead, she just tossed me a paper to break our bond, her voice ice-cold. "You're nothing but the Lynn pack's mutt. If you're gonna lose it, then get lost."
That night, I vanished.
Five years later, I showed up at a gala in my father's place and ran into Miles.
Miles splashed his red wine across my shirt. "Well, look who it is-the Lynn pack's discarded mutt."
I snatched a champagne bottle and smashed it over his head. "Five years, and you still haven't learned to act wolf. Guess I'll teach you today."
Miles' screams echoed.
His posse jumped in front of him, barking at me. "Who the hell are you? Do you even know who you just hit?"
"Let me spell it out," the loudest one jabbed a finger at me. "He's the chosen mate of the Lynn Business she-wolf! You mess with him, Chloe's gonna tear you apart!"
Another blocked my path, smirking. "Let's see who this fool is, daring to cross Chloe's heart. Everyone knows she's crazy for her mate. If Miles so much as bruises a finger, Chloe'd burn the world down-let alone with his head bashed in!"
Miles clutched his bleeding forehead, glaring. "Listen up, Caleb Dawn. Five years ago, I was soft and let you slide. Don't think I'm scared of you now! You're just a dog Chloe kept in her den. I crushed you back then, and if you dare show your face now, I'll crush you again!"
I eyed the changes in Miles after five years. Gotta hand it to Chloe-she'd raised him well. The wolf who used to stammer "Mr. Dawn" in my presence now had the guts to threaten me with "crush you" in front of a crowd.
Too bad I'm no pushover.
Not five years ago.
Not now.
Surrounded by his crew, I stared at the shattered glass on the floor, bent down, and picked up a jagged shard, grinning under their stunned gazes. "Miles."
I stepped toward him. "Five years ago," I said, gripping the bloodied shard, "I gave you too much credit. What's that?" I eyed his gut, dragging the shard from his face downward. "Stabbing out one kidney back then didn't teach you a thing. If that's how it is."
My grin turned feral. Before anyone could react, I raised the shard to plunge it into Miles' stomach.
But my wrist was seized mid-strike, a scream piercing my ears, followed by Miles' tearful whimper, "Chloe, I'm scared."
Five years ago, when I pinned Miles to the ground and stabbed him over and over, he'd worn that same terrified look, crying, "Chloe, I'm scared."
Time folded over itself. A familiar, long-lost voice growled behind me.
"Caleb, five years. Still haven't learned your place?" Chloe's voice was venom.
My wrist was yanked back, pain shooting through me. But unlike five years ago, I didn't back down or submit. The fire in my blood roared. I gripped the shard tighter, feeling it bite into my palm. As Chloe reached to rip it away, I spun, flashing her a grin. "Long time no see, Chloe."
The shard sank into her arm. Blood sprayed, blurring my vision.

"I don't share my women, Adele. Breeder or not. Go on your knees." He instructed, his hands going to unbuckle his trousers.
My heart burned with hatred as I clutched the knife behind me. "Of course, Alpha Loic. I was wondering... If you were to choose between a quick death and a slow one, which would you choose?"
I smiled brightly. He was taken aback for a moment. Then his face twisted in anger. "Have you forgotten your place so soon, Omega? Go down on your fucking knees."
"Omega? Aww. Adele would be so hurt. Tonight, I'll pronounce your death. The Alpha of the Vanguard pack, killed by fire. Touchè." I snapped my hands, and fire sprang up from all corners, encircling the room, with us in it.
"Y-you are not Adele. Who are you?" His eyes widened.

My mother repeatedly told me that I reminded her of him. She always says, "I am a carbon copy of my father, and possibly worse."
"Like a father, like a son," they always say.
But this time, I returned to show him that "A son can defeat his father."
And to do so, I had to be better. That is why I, Knight Angelo Knight, decided to become a gynecologist.
But, in order to break his heart, I had to get my hands on either his wife, Bella, or Julia, the young girl he had raised for years.

A spiked martini at her second-anniversary party led Amelia to stumble into a dark VIP suite, where she unexpectedly lost her virginity to a stranger.
Returning home, the morning light revealed her husband, Kyler, reeking of another woman's perfume, with red lipstick on his collar and a fresh scratch below his ear.
The suffocating guilt of her own mistake instantly vanished, replaced by a cold, sharp block of ice. Kyler, instead of apologizing, mocked her and threatened to cut off her ailing mother's nursing home funding if she didn't play the loving wife.
His two years of coldness and refusal to touch her, claiming stress, were exposed as a pathetic, disgusting lie. Amelia, refusing to be a victim, filed for divorce and began a digital hunt for the IP address that had wiped the club's security servers.
Amidst this escalating fight, she encountered Kyler's formidable half-brother, Jonas Brown, her old academic rival. The familiar scent of crisp cedar and dark tobacco, combined with a fresh scratch on his hand, sparked a terrifying, impossible suspicion.
Then, trapped in his car, a phone call confirmed her custom Cartier ring was missing from the very penthouse suite where she'd spent that fateful night. I stood at the edge of the red carpet, my pulse a steady seventy-two beats per minute. I wasn't the girl they broke eighteen years ago; I was a machine of flesh and bone, calibrated by the sterile lights of the operating theater.
But the moment I stepped inside the Hamptons estate, the trap snapped shut. Belle Estrada stood on the stage, her emerald dress shimmering as she pointed a blood-red nail at me. She accused me of corporate espionage, flashing "stolen" lab data across the massive screens for the entire elite crowd to see.
The room turned into a shark tank. When the family patriarch collapsed from a massive stroke, Bentley—the man who once watched them ruin me—didn't see a doctor rushing to help. He saw a criminal. He lunged at me, hissing that he would have my medical license revoked and blacklist me from every lab in the country.
"This is over," he snarled. "I'll bury you until you're broke and begging."
I looked at him and felt nothing but cold, analytical curiosity. They really thought they could steal my life's work a second time. They thought I was still the girl who would cry and beg for mercy while they carved up my future.
"You can't blacklist the patent holder, Bentley," I said, my voice cutting through his rage like a scalpel.
I held up my phone, displaying the official filing from the USPTO. I wasn't just a guest; I was the sole owner of the very drug they were trying to sell. And standing in the shadows was Julian Vance, the most feared venture capitalist in the city, waiting to collect on his investment. The Everetts wanted a war, but they didn't realize I had already bought the battlefield.
